- A new ad featuring Jenner appearing to bring a protest to an end by sharing Pepsi has been slammed on social media, with some calling out the scene for exploiting the "Black Lives Matter" movement.
that guy studied commercials for 30 years LoL what a life
andrew parente lol if he gets paid for it what's wrong lol
andrew parente man has a verified account so...
Understanding how to create effective commercials is important. On this video, I thought that shouldn't need to be said.
i don't think its important, we get bombarded by ads they are everywhere I look, Its like people are getting constantly conditioned to buy sh*t. I get that it makes a lot of people money, but I am still sick of seeing ads and commercials. And to the guy who thinks I'm still in an English class....? f*ck english class lol
+andrew parente Well then you're nit picking at the wrong thing lol. You're tired of the frequency of ads (we all are). I'd rather have clever or funny ads rather than the TV ads you'd see in the 50s, especially since we get so many of them.
This ad aged like fine milk.
🤣🤣🤣
Whether you like it or not, it's simply not a very good ad to begin with.
Gary E Holt I know right. It is horrible.
Gary E Holt too long. too many "i'm cool" look. but that's what pepsi ads been selling. hmm.
The music for the commercial was just cringe enough
I love how at the end at 4:39 a pepsi trucks goes past haha
Omg lol
You must have been studying commercials for 30 years how the hell did you see that
You must have been studying commercials for 30 years how the hell did you see that
Full of KKK
@@nicholasdickens2801 What's full of KKK?
70 people were killed in a chemical attack, but the thing Americans are outraged about is a Pepsi commercial.
1. ASSAD DID JENNER'S PEPSI AD
2. I heard about the chemical attack on the radio.
Did u know people can multitask about different problems?
Who's the girl with the camera...??
Good to know. I figured she was a stealth Mercenary looking to capitalize on Kendall and selling her photos to CNN.
cc22ful bcoz its america..fucking trump😂😂😂😂
I wish people and media would react with the same passion about the chemical war in Syria!
Gaia Fox Fuck Syria. Not our problem. The fact that Obama even git us into that shit in hopes of a regime change just shows we haven't learned shit from Iraq. There will never be peace in the middle east, so let them kill each other until stability is achieved in the region, making the world a little more stable, or until they're all dead and we can get cheap real estate.
FUCK.YOU.
Bella Lautner Maybe. Later.
virgin_legend27 source Nah man I'm not even American. I just firmly believe that the Middle East should learn to fix itself, one way or another.
Donald L. They wanted to destabilise the middle east.. Part of a bigger plan.. Its not about 'fuck Sayria' its about humanity, its very sad!
"Can a commercial tap into a movement successfully without offending?" NO. IT ABSOLUTELY CANNOT. MOVEMENTS AND CORPORATIONS ARE AT ODDS WITH ONE ANOTHER. Young people do not protest because it is fun and enjoyable they protest because THEY HAVE TO. It is not because they WANT to, it is because they are tired of injustice and want their voices heard! And Pepsi trying to exploit this is what pissed people off. They missed the point of protest ENTIRELY.
@@Mark-oo1vo First off it's "systemic", not "systematic".
Secondly you don't have to tell us you're a young person. We can tell you're like 15 by how stupid that take was.
@@Mark-oo1vo
1.) America's the only OECD nation in the world that doesn't have universal healthcare.
2.) America's one of only 3 nations in the world that doesn't offer maternity/paternity leave.
3.) If you immigrate to another country, America will still tax all of your yearly income for the rest of your life, even if you renounce your citizenship.
4.) If, as an American expat, you renounce your citizenship, move to another country, have a child in that country with someone who's not American, your child will STILL have to file their taxes with the U.S. once they turn 18. This is literally taxation w/out representation.
5.) The price of college tuition has quadrupled since 2001 yet the value of the degrees has lessened, while other countries encourage their citizens to attend university for free.
6.) While other countries matched up to 95% of their citizens' wages during Covid lockdowns, Americans received one $1,000 check, then one $1,200 check months later.
7.) 60% of small businesses are now permanently closed due to the pandemic. These numbers aren't reflected in other countries.
8.) Minimum wage cannot afford you rent in 93% of U.S. counties.
You are literally given crumbs by your country and you say "oh no please, I don't deserve it". You are the socio-economic equivalent of a masochistic gimp. America isn't the standard, but because it's the baseline for all you know you assume it's the norm. It's not 1960 anymore. America's current standard of living is laughable compared to any OECD nation.
@@Mark-oo1vo Your essay reads like a true idiot's. Who do you think funds the R%D subsidies given to private corporations? Investors? Because it's taxpayer money. Since the year 2000 over 80% of vaccines developed were funded through taxpayer dollars. Leave it to our good ol' U.S. of A. to make you pay for something twice only for you to say "yeah but this is probably the best way".
Also yes, the U.S. is number one in cancer treatment survival rates, but only those who are treated. In case you didn't know, chemo is incredibly expensive, especially with private insurance. How many people do you think can't afford the treatment though? Because it's 1/4. 25% of Americans with cancer can't afford treatment.
So if you still go by number of patients treated yes, America is at the top, but if you go by gross number of individuals with cancer that survive the U.S. ranks near the bottom (going by OECD nations). You are given nothing but crumbs by your country and you say "no no please, I don't deserve it". It's pathetic.
@@Mark-oo1vo We weren't talking about the nation's taxes or the IRS, we were talking about the private innovation of medicine, and when you were given information you can't refute you moved the goalposts. Try to pick up some reading comprehension so you can stay on topic next time sweady 💅
@@Mark-oo1vo You said they make up 1/3rd, that's not "overwhelming". That means the majority of citizens "overwhelmingly" pay for it. If they earn more, they should be paying more. In fact most corporations and their CEOs pay little to nothing in income tax, by either basing thier operations offshore, or tying up their value in stocks and other unliquidated assets, meaning they have no salary and don't have to pay any income tax. Their wealth grows, while yours and my taxes grow. Idk why you people lick their boot so much, thinking you'll one day be the factory owner. You won't. So instead of advocating for the person you hope to be and have little to no chance of being, why not advocate for the person you are now? People like you get so wrapped up in self ambition and greed you forget what can actually make your life better now, and it's sad really. Even though you're delusional, I still think you deserve free healthcare and education 🖤
Who's now watching this after watching episode 4 of season 3 of the Boys 😂
Oh America....outraged by a fucking Pepsi commercial. Leave it to America to find a way to get outraged over a soda commercial
Americans rolled their eyes about this and went to work. Marxists are the only ones actually outraged, and they aren't Americans. They aren't even human beings.
I can tell you're very out of touch with American culture or have never set a foot in this country. I'd say about 99% of us could care less about this commercial. The other percent are these SJW's that get offended by any little thing.
Mike Hunt Lol I've lived in America my whole life. I can tell you right now everyone here is offended by everything. I mean Jesus Christ people are still crying about a football player kneeling down
Mike Hunt So your saying your apathetic to the murder of black people at the hands of police? 😒
GrandmasSaltyTits 69 420 Yeah, the murdering of Innocent people includingv13yo tamir rice simply for holding a toy gun tends to offend people
people need to fucking relax
Cameron Pearce yes! Exactly, I'm not a Kendall Jenner fan, but I saw nothing wrong with this commercial, it's just showing current problems in our society. Why do commercials have to be high end classic cool music, awesome dancing, with an important celebrity in it like the older ones. It has to have a meaning.
Says Cameron the comment nazi.
Agreed
we need enjoyment, so we f**k the internet like this
Cameron Pearce Pepsi recalled the ad since the Syria attack
No one wants their pepsi served in a glass of controversy and stirred with politics. Honestly its Pepsi's fault to begin with. Just stay out of politics pepsi.
neonlights777 Perfect comment.
neonlights777 No this is good, because I know where they stand and i won't give them a dime as a result. Why would I knowingly buy products from a company that has the money to push for agendas detrimental to my way of life?
Sound about white and racist
AllstateIts Inyourhands Not an argument.
Please stay out of politics. You obviously know nothing about politic propaganda.
I swear, People just search for whatever excuse to be angry.
People are always looking to turn something simple into something complicated, goodness gracious
rosa veliz you're not black. I don't expect you to get it.
I don't have to be black to understand something.
You do.
Typical. America.
Laetitia Vambili you're victimizing yourself for no reason. Pepsi did not intentionally make this ad to anger others. Sometimes, people blow things out of proportion. The black community was not targeted in this ad, im sure they had no intentions of offending anyone.
What REAL MOVEMENT has this young lady been apart of to represent ANYTHING besides a model? Has she EVER been to or even hash tagged a protest? Has she even used her platform to SPEAK on behalf of the oppressed? I can answer all - NO! Pepsi wished to touch on a very sensitive subject but did it in an insensitive manner and with the wrong LEADING LADY.
I came back to this after the new boys episode who made a joke about this lmao 😂
what if this was reverse psychology where they said lets make an ad that is so terrible it will be talked about by everyone. i think it worked.
I am person that likes to think I'm very receptive to what's ignorant or offensive and I tried but I can't see what's wrong with this commercial. They are using a social justice theme, which is common in recent marketing and it's just promoting soda as a common as a common interest which is weird but not unheard of in marketing. They're not really trying to say that soda is going to solve social issues. It's very similar to the "I'd like to buy the world a coke" commercial. It was diverse, it was timely and it was attention grabbing. I'd be very interested to hear what people find offensive about this because I wasn't picking up anything.
Freya Baldwin-Stuart
I agree. Seriously what is going on p, this outrage culture really needs to stop.
Freya Baldwin-Stuart I thought the video was corny. kendal never even showed up to the woman's March or did any protesting. That makes her appearance tasteless but it's Pepsi fault she was only hired.
Freya Baldwin-Stuart I really like this comment!
It was a long drawn out sequence that led to a shitty climax. That's pretty much it, there's nothing too much to complain about
I thought it was kind of comical that this is so controversial. I think as much as anything it's backlash against Kendall and the Kardashians. She's trying to show she can relate to real strife and she's completely spoiled. Still the Kardashians will spin this and probably have an entire episode devoted to Kendall's reaction and then they will bring in some writers to show how she really is apathetic to the struggles of the common millennial.
I understand why people are mad at this ad, but it looks like a lot of people are blowing this up because she's a kardashian sister.
katherine sifuentes I totally agree.
katherine sifuentes well it's not only that but this girl is gonna walk up and lead this March all of a sudden? she isn't a role model and hasn't done anything to contribute to society. so I find it absurd to have a spoiled girl play the part of a protester when she hasn't done anything of it. yes it's an ad and it wasn't depicted like an actual protest, but Pepsi just wanted a way to be "hip" with the younger generation by picking every social issue going on rn and mix it up to sell you fuckin soda.
LilSpinna97 how old are you?😂 kendall was the actress there, how can you expect them to put her in the back? And she was a character, that means she was assuming a role. You basically based your criticism on her personal life as a kardashian. You probs dont even get the ad, just that kendall is on it and that's where you have something to say about
katherine sifuentes no its because pepsi is making the black lives matter look useless because they apparently think all you need is a pepsi
Alegna Ahsram there's many ways to view this ad as tasteless. would you let someone like Bill Cosby play the role of a gentleman knowing what we know of him now? Yes I hate the Kardashians but this clearly shows that all the issues going on in the world (which was the point in the beginning you dumb old bitch) can be solved buying a fucking soda.
This is how fucked the world is people getting uptight over a fucking commercial. We as people are NEVER gonna get along smh
I'm drinking a coke right now.
"I've been studying commercials for 30 years"???????????????
if Pepsi want to give that message about 'being a unity, becoming one, bringing all races together and having peace' they should have done it differently.
A commercial banned just because a few Twitter folks got pissed? Unbelievable.
And this is why every other country thinks we are a joke because of people getting butt hurt over b.s like this...
eh? the commercial didn't make sense and the outrage is even more baffling.
Joshua Rey Molina I agree. The ad was stupid but the outrage is crazy.
You see, black people own protesting now....
Dirk Mcgriff you are the problem. You have no empathy to anyone that looks nothing like you. Black never said we owned protesting but to make light of a serious situation is wrong.
No "empathy to" or empathy for? Either way, you tend to make the same sweeping generalizations of which you accuse me....so you appear to be the same problem no? Please tell me, what situation is the Pepsi commercial making light of? BLM? You know people have been protesting since the dawn of man, so it is quite entitled to state that this commercial is making light of something which concerns you only.
Dirk Mcgriff the commercial was stupid because it made light of protesting. Everyone including whites have said it was similar to the BLM protests. That does not mean blacks feel we own everything including protesting. Having a lack of empathy is not seeing another persons point of view despite your differences. So that I am not generalizing you: I ask you: do you every feel at anytime where a black person did not deserve to to killed by a cop? Just one example. I can name you several in which a white person should not been killed or hurt. I'll wait
Can we realize that she was paid? Who’s the one who came up with the smart idea to use real time issues as a ploy to advertise?
Controversy = more views = more money
Oh come on now, don't act like you don't do that yourselves ABC.
If they made this commercial back in 2000, with any celebrity that was big at the time, everyone would say "That's a nice commercial" but because we live in a time where people wanna take everything out of proportion and twist shit up, they get triggered and offended by it
The GMA roundtable is about as offensive as the ad. How daft and out of touch can these corporate media types be?
And I'll join the chorus on the Pepsi ad. Take a rich, socialite, air-headed model who has probably never protested a thing in her life (maybe her allowance?), and have her cozy up to the cops during a protest. What part of that did Pepsi think was smart?
Conservatives: um wow people get OFFENDED by everything these days! lol just a commercial :)
Conservative: DID CAMPBELLS HAVE TWO GAYS IN THEIR AD???? BOYCOTT EVERYTHING!
Special Snowflakes: WHAT!? THE PRESIDENT OF MY CHOICE DIDN'T WIN?? LET'S TEAR DOWN EVERYTHING!!
Hey Special Snowflakes: What?! People don't like my president?! Call everyone libtards!
I will NEVER drink another pepsi EVER
Pepperoni, snickers, and grapes haha
why are people crying over this? i just don't get it... i see nothing wrong but everyone is so sensitive, it's ridiculous.
Somebody explain why this commercial is getting backlash
...yes
Like they say, "bad publicity is better than no publicity."
I still don't see what's wrong with the ad
I honestly don't see anything wrong with the commercial.
you must not be a minority
I'm black. It's a commercial that actually touched on equality, and if people take their shades off, they'd see the message, not the product.
gymnastifan I'm a minority and it's obvious people are overreacting. Yeah, it's a dumb commercial, but shit, get the fuck over it.
Rashan Reeves same. I'm a gay Muslim immigrant and I thought it was a great commercial. People just get butt hurt too easily.
I do. It's full of degenerates.
kendall is getting all the hate what about all those extras.
As an extra. We are not told the whole scope of the scene. They just tell us what to do and we are required to sign non disclosure forms plus they take away our cell phones.
I'm outraged! For what, I have no idea.
What is the freaking problem with this commercial exactly! I think people really need to relax 😩!
I think their ad worked, people are talking about it and giving free publicity and getting Pepsi in the heads of many people.
i wouldnt drink pepsi if it was free
you might be right, but I will drink coke if I have a soda. blm + kkk = smh. boo pepsi sooo political that the ad will cost them. they bite the very hand that feeds them. not a good business decision.
Not all publicity is good publicity. You are probably too young (and stupid) to know that. Tip from an adult: You don't have to post everything that happens in your life on social media under your name. A potential employer may see it.
yeah but no matter what ads they do pepsi still tastes like shit
The wrong type of publicity. People will actually boycott Pepsi for this and rightly so. Who brings political agenda to a fucking soft drink... Oh that's right, Ameretards.
Damn, just saw this and dumped my Pepsi out on the ground. I'm going back in the store for a Coke now.
Watches Pepsi Commercial sips Coca Cola
I personally think the commercial is about letting go, but it wasn't done the right way. Thinking a drink will make people stop protesting when their friends, families and lovers are being killed for no reason is really just irresponsible
It's a Pepsi commercial, it's not supposed to be deep, or meaningful. It is supposed to show that Pepsi can solve any problem, not to offend anyone.
lol. did you even watch this video numbnuts? Pepsi says it aimed to show people in all walks of life uniting, so, yes they intended this to be deep and meaningful. You're as dumb as Pepsi.
Queen B Exactly!
Queen B - fucking dumbest comment in the section right here
If Pepsi wants to show it "can solve any problem," it should start with diabetes, obesity and tooth decay.
Vinky
🙌🏾🙌🏾
why are they blaming kendall? SHe didn't write it.
I don't think people are being over sensitive, this advert completely missed the mark saying that Kendall could fix a protest with a Pepsi for gods sake
all I can say is you can tell no black people work for Pepsi 😂
Theyre starting to eat their own now lol
Oh it will be grand 👍
Love how we pay more attention to a commercial than what's happening in Syria, unbelievable.
At the last second of this video you actually see a Pepsi truck passing by the studio in the back
they're reaching... i'm not offended and i'm black
there's nothing wrong with this add. it's sending a message of peace. nothing to do with black lives matter. nothing else to worry about
The AD is perfect!!!! Mindless outrage is all it is...
I swear people would complain about everything
People will complain about anything. Shut up and drink a Pepsi
Woulda been better with Caitlyn Jenner instead of Kendall.
Pulls off the wig to reveal his liver spotted oldman head.
It should have been a Gay Pride Parade and have Bruce Jenner hand the Pepsi to the Gay cop.
Mar10 It would actually have been perfect if Caitlyn hadn't openly been homophobic
OH, THE IRONY!
yeah bruce would kill it
Small minded people
And here I thought there were more important things to get upset over...smh
I wish I had a better word than tone deaf for how far that ad was from appropriate...
Kendall should've had some thought on the fact that the commercial desensitizes the seriousness of the Black Lives Matter movement(as well as other movements). I guess money means more to her than morals do.
Iman Lee nobody gives a shit about black lives movement, any normal person
Iman Lee FUCK BLACK LIVES MATTER
Yankees1215 NJ what??? Keep liking your own comments buddy☺️
Lisa Weaver
I don't agree with them 100% but I know that they don't go around killing white people. I can't say the same for White Lives Matter cough cough *KKK cough cough.
Lisa Weaver I'm wondering where on earth you've found the evidence to support your claim. That is, if you have any, which I assume you don't. Supporters of BLM just want equality and justice for black people. I can't see how anyone would want any less.
This ad isn't tone deaf, it's spot on. It shows a bunch of clueless young people who are joining in some sort of protest for the fun of it and because it looks cool, hip, and edgy. Most young protesters have no clue what they are protesting they just know the jist of it. This ad points that out quite well. Not one of the characters in the ad is seen to be doing any research whatsoever before they join in the protest. All ti took for them to join was seeing people marching toward a police line holding signs that say "Join the conversation" and "Peace". So of course they join in because conversations, peace, and standing up to the establishment (the police) can only be good things. But in reality for all they know they are protesting for Kim Jon Un's plan/"conversation" to have South Korea peacefully surrender and join North Korea so he can be dictator over an unified Korea. This ad is a slam against the mindless masses of young people who are still living in their bubbles but think they have the world all figured out.
What if the cop getting the Pepsi was a Black women, instead of a White man? Would there have been backlash then?
My only complaint is that this should have been Pepsi Man, not Jenner.
This proves that people will do anything for money 😕
No, this proves that you need to stop being such a sensitive bitch
Guillermo Claudio Shut your bitch ass up!
I agree with you. Probably didn't matter to her as long as she got paid.
She's a celebrity. Obviously she is going to take a job acting in a commercial for money. I don't think that says anything about her character.
Guillermo Claudio I agree. How many other people there on that set got paid too?
Dude iv drink Pepsi and coke ca cola and I think this ab is a good message to know that we need to stop this dumb racism stuff because not in the 60's anymore this is 2017 already we shouldn't be wasting our time with this racism crap I'm just saying ok ok ok ✌️✌️✌️✌️👍👍👍👍
Preach brother! Peace ☮❤️
Thank you brother at least someone understands because I got attack by some people on comments for saying that how dangerous el chopo is 😔😔😓😓😰😰
Simon Moran El Chapo? Yeah he's an animal. The reason of why so many people in Mexico were killed and slaughtered like cows :(
Thats a pretty naive thing to say.
So we should be blind towards racism and just ignore it because its just a loss of time, its still very much alive but lets just ignore it
the only thing offensive about this ad is how happy all these protesters look
along with the drama can someone tell me the song that was used in the commercial
E.g linsay Smith Skip Marley - Lions
I am from India and I had to youtube a lot of videos before I could understand why this ad is offending so many people.
*goes into kitchen to make Snickers, sausage and grapes together*
No ads make any sense this is just another one of them
This is Beyond stupid! It's just a damn commercial. Not a shot or demeaning the blm.
That moment when you realize Mad Men showed you that Pepsi commercial first 😂
ummm look at that 1970s history
Shaun White "I'm talking about Mountain dews baby"
This reminds me of the misguided unaware nature of companies on Twitter that John Oliver had a segment on once. Like one where a microwave pizza company (I forgot the name) joined in on a hashtag called 'why I stayed' which was about the psychological damage inflicted by domestic abuse (hence why people still stayed) and the pizza company said "because he had pizza". It's that level of misunderstanding and desperation to seem relevant that's being seen in this stupid Pepsi ad.
Typical people going batshit crazy over absolutely nothing.
how is called the song?
What Pepsi does to your body is much worse than this commercial... lol
who tf drinks pepsi over coke?? i dont drink soda but this ad was HILARIOUS. it coulda been kendall or ne body...it would have been ridiculous. smh. congrats, Pepsi. u played ya self.
People are overly sensitive nowadays. They want to dig so deep to find fault in the dumbest shit.
My God Kendall has NO ASS!!!
oh please people always got some shit to say. its a freaking commercial. there are more important things going on in the world than a soda commercial.
But the most important about this issue that people speak and the line that divide about the ethical issue or commercial issue, but it´s in deed in the commercial effect it´s amazing but ethical is so controversial because touch the in the moral or feeling about the essence of the fight movements ( this one on this commercial resume almost of all) in an good cause, but it´s very good to speak about.. well done
I don't get this commercial plz someone explain to me
We have altogether boycotted pepsico...Aunt Gemima (Pearl Milling) products, Gillette, Quaker, pepsi products. The list keeps growing by their own doing.
Everything woke turns to garbage.
lol I don't get why people are making such a big deal about this commercial, people need to relax.
wait i thought that meant she was joining the fight . I dont get this ad lol
it's just a commercial, come on it's not that big of a deal.. the only reason why this is stirring so much drama is because a Kardashian/Jenner stars in the ad.. anybody else could have done this and it wouldn't have gotten this much hate
I simply don't get it. Must be because I'm white. But I seriously fucking don't.
Never even saw the commercial, to start complaining. I dont even think it was streamed on tv at all.
Remember back when David Bowie accidentally made a black Tina Turner by spilling his Pepsi on the copy machine?
Wow if they only had Pepsi at Kent State .
When Minneapolis needed her most...she disappeared
Everyone has to be offended over everything now. What has happened to this generation?
Everybody is saying black lives matter when us asians are like, "why WHATS WRONG WITH THIS!"
The biggest loser is the dude studying commercials for the last 30 years.
i can't remember when was the last time i saw a coca cola ad. makes sense, coke doesn't need to spend $$ to convince us they are better than pepsi lol
Never defend something like that. Doubling down just makes it worse. Just apologize, and move on, and never do anything like that again. Learn from the mistake.
The pot example was very actuate. I hope Pepsi really wanted to defend the issues and were not just trying to exploit them...
The thing lower than the commercial was hiring Kendal Jenner.
