  • Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) remains one of our favourite, and one of the most popular, racing simulators on the market at present. Replicating the GT3 and GT4 cars and tracks seen in the GT World Challenge series, it’s spawned multiple esports series, console versions and a large community of dedicated fans.
    But, once you’ve got past the initial learning curve, finding those last few tenths can be a dark art.
    Worry no more though. Stop getting lost in your damper settings, or wondering if those tyre pressure values are correct, we’re here to help.
    This is part one of a detailed, yet approachable, three-part video series where we show you how to be faster in Assettto Corsa Competizione - the ultimate set-up guide.
    In this episode we focus on your car’s wheels, so that means tyre pressures, toe angles, camber angles, the last readings box and caster. Then we cover the electronic driving aids, including traction control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), ECU maps and telemetry laps.
    In part two, we look at the brakes, tyres, and fuel in more detail: • Assetto Corsa Competiz...
    Part three takes a look at the final two pages on the setup tabs: • Assetto Corsa Competiz...

    great video. 1 mistake though. at 9:55 you stated that the table shows to adjust abs as your brake pads wear but that table is in fact showing tire wear not brake pad wear. as pads wear out, they will become more difficult to lock up. this is inverse to tire wear which will become easier to lock up as they wear out.

    Caster directly effects the effectiveness of the rear anti roll bar, more caster will mean more effect of the rear ARB on turn in. More caster Effectively helps to unload the rear inside wheel on turn in, especially under braking. As Too much rear grip, will cause under steer on turn in.

  • @scotthiland5521
    @scotthiland5521 Před rokem

    Generally, really nice job with this... just one addition regarding the tire temps across the contact patch (I M O). Tire pressure influences this as well... if M is higher (temp wise) than the I and O... that means your tire pressure is too high and should be deflated. On the flip side, if tire pressure is too low the I and O will run hotter meaning you need the pump up the tire pressures. The ultimate goal should to try to maximize your tire contact patch before you really start diving into any other car settings by getting the tire temps across the tire (I M O) as close to one another as possible. You get I M O temps close and your car will feel much more stable. I find the stock setups give us way too much negative camber out of the box and is the first thing I change. I typically get get it to a 2 degree temp difference between Inner and outer (M falling in between). My biggest challenge is the brake pads... last three laps of a 25 minute race I'm struggling getting the car to slow down.

    • @bickettryan
      @bickettryan Před 11 měsíci +1

      thanks for sharing this tip! I've been afraid to mess with anything other than the basics like pressures and brake balance because I don't know what I'm doing. but your goal of 2 deg difference between inner and outer makes perfect sense and gives me a more objective thing to look at for changing the camber, it feels like I have a confidence foothold in figuring the rest of this stuff out so it will actually start to click for me someday.

  • @DaxMoon
    @DaxMoon Před rokem

    Well explained, however, caster has a bigger role than only steering feeling. It's called dynamic camber, or camber gain when turning. Basically, the more caster you have, the more negative camber you will have on the outside tyre, and positive camber on the inside, when turning the steering wheel. However, too much caster can bind the steering geometry and make it too difficult to steer. This is 100% related to each car geometry. That is why not all cars run maximum caster and low static camber angles, which would be ideal.

  • @ZoltanF1LH
    @ZoltanF1LH Před 3 lety +8

    I use the Lamborghini GT3 with high Caster and it gives me a lot of laptime. For every 2 degrees of caster you add you can remove 1 degree of negative camber angle.
    The caster gives you increased camber angle during cornering which is great because a large static camber isn't best.

    Good videos! Can anyone help? I have a Thrustmaster 300 RS - and the Ferrari wheel. I’m reasonably experience with ACC, but I have an issue I just cannot get to the bottom of, after about five or six laps, my grip just goes and turning requires far more manipulation of wheel. Is this a thrusmaster glitch? It ruins the enjoyment of the race. I try to set the pressures correctly, but I suspect I’m breaking too late and sliding, as anyone else had this problem? I am using coach Dave set ups as well as a normal safe set ups. But I’ve never changed camber or any settings …. many thanks ! Happens with different cars but I mostly drive Lexus.
    I notice that two bars icons between the rear wheels are generally a blue green whereas the tyre bars themselves are green.
    It’s really annoying me !
    I’d gladly buy a tune from you !

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks very much! On a personal level, I don't. Maybe if the track conditions changed or it started raining for example, but I find that spending too much time thinking about changes mid-lap can be distracting. Possibly the only other time I might do this would be a corner such as the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. The car goes very light under braking over the crest and because of this it's easy to lock up. On this occasion if I was doing a qualifying lap, I might consider changing the ABS just for that corner if I felt the car needed it.

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  Před 2 lety +1

      No, normally you'd stay in the same ABS unless you found you were locking up more then you'd turn it up 1.

    So look this has been bothering me. Both you and Dave Cam and everyone else says to set the wheel settings to 0% road feel. How is this? This makes all your setups and lap times and everything illegitimate. I didn't think it mattered until i ran a few laps at Bathurst. The long back straight is anything but smooth, and I've been running 50% road feel. Try it. You'll need to adjust your setup to keep from having the wheel snatched from your hands. This made me realize as well, that none of these setups are legitimate, because without the bumps in the road affecting your steering, your setup can be much more stiff, and therefore quicker. I turned off road feel and went out and even though you can clearly see the car bouncing aggressively you can't feel it and it doesn't affect you at all in regards to steering. Even at 50%, however, your steering is drastically affected, which changes your inputs quite a bit and affects your top speed on that straight. There is a path, a line you can take that slightly minimizes the problem, but you don't even know to look for it if you have road feel off. For a sim that makes its name off of realism and immersion, turning this off is paramount to cheating. Your setups are all too stiff if a person is running with at least 50% road feel especially at bathurst. Every video I've watched of hotlaps on this track you see absolutely no movement in the wheel on that back straight. This is impossible with road feel on at least 50%. Try it. You'll see I'm not wrong. My point in bringing this up is not to criticize, but to bring up an issue that needs resolving: we need setups that work properly with realism turned on (road feel). None of these setups (yours, Dave's, anyone's who run 0% road feel) are legitimate in this circumstance.

    It's probably the most impossible game to play. The settings for the control of the machine cannot be made. Now I understand why only the guide for uncepators takes almost two hours. Those who made this game did not take into account a basic thing in the world of video games.... the friendlier the interface, the more you sell. They have unnecessarily complicated things and no matter how much this game costs, the time spent just to be able to control a vehicle is far too precious.
    Too bad for the graphics and the work done... probably the authors had to look more at those who built the Race Room game.
    I wasted time in vain to play Asseto... the difficulty of the settings make it impossible to play.
