Simracing is more serious than people know as a beginners. There are couple Golden rules in simracing. Obey real life racing rules, overtaking, fighting, defending rules. Treat your car as in real life. In real life you don’t drive mad or uncontrollably taking chances. Any accident will cause damage to other drivers, people will not like you. They can ban you. Be respectful and clean driver. Clean means driving without causing accidents and dangerous situations. Never ever touch, hit other drivers. You will ruin your but more important somebody’s elses race, more likely many peoples race. Respect is sportsmanship and obeying rules. If you god forbid crash somebody, wait for him and let him go ahead. Don’t cover track for much faster car approaching. Don’t brake check :) Don’t cover line twice if defending. Leave space when fighting, don’t go in his driving line if both side to side. Let the faster cars go pass. Letting it go works as a strategy to catch other cars. Cruicial is to follow blue flags. If you’re a backmarker, always let the leaders go, let them overtake you safely, move away from racing line or stay on racing line if you’re in slower class car. Depends on situation. You can indicate which way you’re going. Don’t ruin somebody’s race blocking. It’s not uncommon when racers are fighting for 30 minutes and more following each other. Trying to gain few tenth a second per lap to catch the car ahead. Don’t ruin the race, watch blue flags on track, the rear mirror and follow race list to know if you have to let somebody pass. Also slow down and look ahead during yellow flags. There is an accident ahead and faster cars are rejoining track, track is blocked. Don’t damage your car. Don’t divebomb. Join track after accident safely (wait till others pass and road is clear). My advise for beginner is NOT to go online till you get good with consistent laps, no mistakes. Learn in single player with computer cars (AI). AI is well behaved (mostly) and fluid with making no mistakes. As a beginner following AI cars you’ll learn your car dimensions, correct braking points, acceleration and driving line, also keeping distance from each other and how close you can get to each other. If you hit AI car that’s fine. But if you hit somebody online, you’re a bad man. You’ll hear many bad words coming at you, people will call you names :) . Braking points and acceleration changes when following cars closely. Don’t rush when you drive. Drive safely and nicely as in real life. Build your consistency. Being consistent is more important than being fast. Stay on track and you aways will have somebody to race even if you’re slower. In ACC do career, you’ll learn a lot. Also get one of your mates to practice following each other and overtaking each other through corners. Simracing is not about winning the first place. I enjoy driving my own pace, my car control, a good race/fight with no mistakes. If you pushing, taking risks in ACC you will be slower and will not gain places or finish race many times. All you’re fighting is ONLY the car in front of you. Not the 2 or 5 cars ahead. So be patient, don’t rush overtake, make it safe, learn your opponent. When you’ll make a nice clean overtake that is very rewarding. Even if it is for the last places. And remember no race is won on first corner. Good luck guys.

There are other great games like wreckfest, driveclub, forza, need for speed, where you can have fun and taking somebody off track is even encouraging :) . Definitely try a good simracing game, it might grow on you. You can’t deny a real car racers are having fun abiding by race rules or without taking each other out ..

Cant think of it this way. Videos like these are valid for years if the games they represent are still popular enough. Not everyone started their youtube/twitch/Instagram.... account when they already had a following.
If u are in it for money then it makes less sense to go from zero, its still viable tho as eventually u either get a following or u change your point of interest.

The beginer online tracks so far have had those who can do monza in 1.48s - well this newb at 1.55s gets in their way and the abuse begins... what can be done?

  • @Manc268

Its a game that is cruel on mistakes, once you sort tyres out, lots of errors can go away then laptimes become a thing. There is no push & go car, presets are good but tyre temps always wrong. Learn tracks & tyre temps - One car all tracks, then all cars one track - Patience is needed when new, forget racing & dont rush for a few days !!! Find a comfy car, do all tracks, set the tyre temps.. name all saves the same. Whatever you do, do the same on all saves. Practise mode seems to be consistent - Aggressive preset, reduce fuel to 7-10 laps, go test tyres, adjust temps, do more laps, adjust, save it, test it, adjust/move on.. do that fresh every track, then the car is suitable for racing every track (once you loaded the save & checked weather!!). The 7-10laps of fuel also covers most basic public lobbies so i use that, you can use less. I did all this after trying the game 2 or 3 times previous & had zero confidence in any car & couldn't enjoy lobbies, I now know i have one old fav car capable of all tracks & others are easier to prepare. You can mix the tyre-temp setting with the Driver Stats 'Track Competence' - it needs 4 clean laps for 3 stars, after the tyres are right you can also do that easier. Adjust the AI so you cannot win easily. Dont use driver line, learn the visuals/instinct. Be patient with the tyre pressures, it felt like a years job but 1 car was done in 2 days, sometimes it only takes 10mins per track. When the Ambient air/track temps is 10'30' (the left numbers when the 2 sets of temps are displayed before the race), then the tyres in dry should be 27.5 on most GT3. One degree weather changes are one click either way. Later on, include air/track ambient temps in the tune save file or the weather changes when racing make you think your last tune was garbage & you can ruin or delete a good tune. Keep it simple, you can end up with many tunes on one car.

I agree with the Wheel choice, I started using this with Iracing and it is enjoyable. I would mention however that from my experience, the driver software you have to use with it is absolutely trash tier. I have had one issue after another with it. Sometimes it won't detect my wheel, sometimes FFB won't work, sometimes it doesn't save my settings (e.g for f1 2020 I have my rotation limited to 360 degrees, but sometimes its uses the full 900 degrees anyway). A reinstall fixes all of my issues, but I have to do it frequently. I am willing to put up with this, but many will not which is completely fair.

But after a few laps it switch automaticaly to a out of the car view and have been unable to switch back to the in dash view. Hey Boonatix, good Video! Short and on point but your FFB settings are wrong. If the gain is on 100% you will have a lot of clipping. Allways when the FFB HUD is filled completely you lose information which is normally the case when your car starts over- & understeer. Also the Minimum Force has to set to a minimum. Good wheels allways on 0 and entry level wheels on 1 or 2 (if it goes off when u are on a straight).
You can strenghten the FFB when you turn up the driver to the maximum and increase the Caster Setting (Car Setup).
    An sonsten weiter so! :-)

Maybe you can point me in the right direction to get an answer
. I loaded Assetto Corsa, got the wheel, peddle set and shifter all configured. The monitor works perfectly. But once I started a drive, it loaded and I couldn’t start the car. I noticed that when I went to Options/Controls, it has the Input Method as an XBox 360 game pad, although I am running it on a PC. I can’t seem to find anywhere to change that. I’m guessing that might have something to do with my problem, but I’m new to all of this. Any ideas?

But if it wasn't for that I would still jump to ACC as the audio and graphics are incredible on my rig. Using Brian Koponen's guide for my wheel to get the setting right made a world of a difference and enjoy my first true practice session following your video. I was pretty happy with myself that I was able to clock in a lap at 1:58 after several laps of practice and then turning off the line guide on the Monza circuit.
