What is the MAJOR change for the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

  • The Corolla has been a compact car standout from Toyota for many years. The hatchback adds extra versatility to the Corolla lineup. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 that is producing 169HP & mated to a CVT transmission. On the outside you will find an all new color, upgraded wheels, and blacked out roof. On the inside you will find more cargo space than last year, comfortable seats, and all the tech you could ask for. What the MAJOR change for the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

    The toyota corolla actually feels like a compact hatchback. So many compacts have gotten so big for better or worse. If your looking for reliability and comfort with a dash of utility, this seems like a good option.

      What are some good things and bad things with your corrolla? Hows the acceleration?

    • @NoelKunz
      @NoelKunz Před 2 lety +2

      @@MrChickenspit don't buy this for speed. It's straight up economy but honestly VERY fun to drive. Acceleration will be disappointing to most but you have to understand what you're buying. I came from a Challenger R/T Track Pack, so in comparison the acceleration is extremely disappointing.. but only if my mindset was to buy the Corolla for speed. I didn't. And because of this, it's honestly not bad. Just need to remember that this small engine loves and needs revs to get peppy. It's not a drag racer, so off the line it won't win any races, but once it's going, it'll be fun. My Corolla Hatchback is registered for the SCCA in the H-Street class. It won't be fast, but can and will be FUN (just give it revs).
      My only complaint, single complaint, is that the economy Japanese paint is thin. Looks beautiful, cleans nicely, but is thin. Rock chips will inevitably happen, as with any car, but the paint is noticeably thin on these. Clear bra/wrap it if you can, but it's a point to mention. Otherwise I can't complain. I LOVE this car as an economic daily driver that's still nimble and fun.

Im speaking from experience as i own the sedan version of this. Its way easier once you actually sit on the driver's seat then you will appreciate it and it does not even distract you with the driving. Honda has been going down the toilet with their quality, l was initially going to get one before I ended up with toyota corolla. Oil dilution is an issue with 1.5 litre and as for the 2.0 litre especially the LX it lacks some standard features that are found in all toyota trims and no lumbar support in civic as well.

But it would be cool if manufacturers made traditional sedans like the Accord and Camry lift backs. I think what ever manufactures their midsize sedan like that or compact first will get a ton of press and it would bring some people back to the car market instead of getting a CUV. they are candy bars disguised as health food, as is any granola. the healthiest bars would be those with egg whites, dates, and nuts and even those are calorie dense because the water fiber content just isn't there compared to fresh low glycemic fruits and vegetables. i used to be a potbellied cow. i know nutrition very well. those nature valleys are trash.

    I never need an SUV for my whole life all I want is a hatchback, even better for a wagon. The Corolla hatchback is definitely the best car I can buy in the US.
    I rented a Corolla wagon in Japan from Toyota Rent-A-Car in 2020 and it's perfect! Not a fan of CVT but don't mind having one with Toyota.

    Looks cool. The pricing is a bit high for what it is though. You can get a decently equipped Crosstrek with AWD for the same price, I live up north so with snow that's a major consideration. I wonder if they plan to make a hybrid version of the Corolla which looks this sporty, I actually might consider one. My ex wife had a new Corolla Sport around 2005 or so. It drove really well, better than my new Camry of the same year, it was one of her better choices. She followed that up with two Scions (XB and XA) that were some of the worst new cars I have ever driven.
