Another story about Vol. 3 by Slipknot (or really, the band that recorded before them): When Slipknot were first getting settled in at Rubin's mansion, another band was finishing up their sessions. Their lead singer had a freakout one night, and refused to sleep *anywhere* other than the control room. They gave him a cot and let him sleep by the mixer. Whenever Corey tried to ask him about what happened, he said, *"I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING TALK ABOUT IT!!"*
As for Vol. 3 itself, apparently the spirits in the house did a remix of one of their songs. Every time they tried to record one particular song and get it mixed down, they'd find it turned into a jumbled mess the next day. Then they'd try to fix it, and get it back to the way it was. Next day, it's a jumbled mess again. So they decided to put it on the album. Once they made that decision, the problem stopped.
Ever wondered what that weird interlude between Before I Forget and Vermillion pt 2 was about? Now you know
The intro to “Sleep” on Black Parade is a chopped-up recording of Gerard Way describing his own experiences in the mansion:
“Like last night, uh, they're not like tremors, they're worse than tremors, they're-they're these terrors…and it's like, it feels like as if somebody was gripping my throat and squeezing and-“
Motley Crew: You can't make an album with the devil, you'll get destroyed!
Ghost: Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer
Ngl, when I was typing those Ghost lyrics I spoke them under my breath and my bedroom door unlocked by itself lol.
I may or may not have brought the bad juju into my house playing the remix of that line over Funky Town
that story of Meat Loaf makes sense when you consider the amount of his music mentions or suggest ghosts in some perspective :P
He definitely never backed down about his belief in the supernatural.
I never get tired of hearing the story behind The Bedlam In Goliath, it was also my first ever look into The Mars Volta!
Same! Hearing Goliath for the first time blew my mind.
that opening clip for motley crue is a banger.
That was from this past year. Vince Neil is still shouting at the devil.
@@RockedNet
Some say he is still shouting at the devil to this very day.
Not sure what he's shouting anymore but he's shouting alright
@@benamisai-kham5892 He's shouting his Arby's order
@@TimmyTickle I'd still go to Arby's with Vince ✌️
The amount of legendary albums that have haunted stories is fantastic.
The Blood Sugar Sex Magik album could be because of Houdini spirit but Frusciante said he felt good vibes when recording 😊 unlike Chad who spent the night in a hotel 😮
If I die in a mansion, does that mean I'll be a VIP for the recording of a future rock or metal band's album?
I think that’s how it works now lol
Yeah, but it'll be Imagine Dragons.
There is also the story behind Marilyn Manson's "Portrait of an American Family", which was recorded at Trent Reznor's house in LA that also happened to be the site of Sharon Tate's murder. He describes the strange occurrences in "Long Hard Road Out of Hell".
Dang I need to know more about the Killing Joke recording !

Lessons learned:
Naming the album with “Devil” on it, making internationally Devilish music and collaborating with Rick Rubin releases Hell.
I know that these aren't ACTUALLY haunted albums, but I think an honorable mention should go to Medicine at Midnight/Dream Widow, love Studio 666
Given that Dream Widow came out the day Taylor died, definitely cursed.
Is The Downward Spiral haunted? I know it was recorded at the Sharon Tate house
Trent talked about that before and if I'm correct he tried to get out of recording there as well. Not sure on the whole story.
Holy cow, that must ve horrible after all the hell happened there 😮
@@manueltapia1859Apparently when he bought the place, he had no idea about the history behind it. And he got scolded by the Tate family for "exploiting Sharon's death for recognition" (something he said was never his intention, but regretted in retrospect)
@@ideitbawxproductions1880 to think the original owner could said something to Román Polanski and Sharon Tate about Manson!!!
Spooky times rock edition
Spooky month is best month
‘One of Slipknot’s members is a total prankster.’
“SID!”
A lot of these stories are like a scene from South Park: "Ok, kids, you need to remember: drugs are bad, m'kay?"
The ultimate haunted album, for me at least, is "Spiderland" by Slint. It's a deeply unsettling sounding album and two members of the band has to be briefly institutionalized after its recording because as it turns out, recording an album in 4 days pulling all nighters is bad for your health
they recorded it in 4 days?????? i can see why they were institutionalized
@@wozaow yes. They apparently relied entirely on energy drinks to get through it
Lol the first Motley clip
Another one would be the Concrete Blonde album Walking In London. Its lead single, "Ghost of a Texas Ladies' man" was based on an incident that happened to lead singer Johnette Napolitano in an Austin, Texas hotel. The hotel was said to be haunted. Johnette had just taken a shower in the room's bathroom and stepped out to see the ghost of a man there. She, of course, screamed and covered up then the ghost vanished. Some accounts of this story state the hotel was the Driscoll hotel, but I can't confirm that; this aspect of the story is most likely an urban legend.
I thought for sure you would include Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast! Part 2, please!
The Iron Maiden stories about 'Number Of The Beast' were a publicity stunt to keep the band name in the press while they got Bruce Dickenson up to speed with the old stuff.
Love the video! Definitely needs to be a part 2. People on drugs see things but I also think being messed up makes you easier to screw with or for ghosts to get you to see them. Fun stories either way.
2:37 that is interesting. I didn't know that about RHCP and Slipknot's albums, but Marilyn Manson also recorded the HolyWood album there and multiple band members have also talked about weird experiences there.
After hearing their story, I REALLY hope that Slipknot has covered The Bee Gees in-concert. Something about Corey Taylor channeling his inner Barry Gibb in full costume just sounds hilariously awesome.
The Downward Spiral - Nine Inch Nails. Literally recorded in the Manson murder house. Even some videos from the Broken EP were filmed at and around the house. Also Marilyn Manson's first album was recorded there. Trent dubbed the house "Le Pig" because on the front door the word "Pig" was written. What Reznor didn't know was that the "ink" used was actually dried up blood. Trent didn't know he rented the Manson murder house when he decided to record The Downward Spiral.
This is a great idea for a video. Well done!
Although a bit nuts, that move really paid off for Killing Joke cause the 2 tracks that used the vocal recordings from that session sound amazing!
I think the Houdini house is haunted because after RCHP went to record Stadium Arcadium, John left after the album was released, albeit on better terms.
"Why learn a lesson when you can make money" was just a hilarious line that really got me chuckling. Well done, Luke
Hasbro needs to make a My Little Pony Ouiji Board.
"Inexplicably teleporting" - or just sleepwalking.
See with Bedlam in Goliath I just assumed they had found their sound or the sound they were experimenting with just really clicked for me. Now I know it's just spirits influencing what I consider to be their best work XD
Jesus Motley Crue sounds terrible at 1:32. What is he 3 years old. Probably regretting using that octave now.
I swear I read somewhere a long time ago someone from Otep said in an interview that the first track on House of Secrets theres a recording of a ghost's voice in the background. Apparently when you hear what sounds like a man spewing gibberish at the end of the track that wasn't anyone present.
The only source I could find was a post on Song Meanings who said Otep posted about it in a blog, but I couldn't find the blog itself, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow while recording "Rising" has a lot of ghost stories behind it.
The most important thing I took from this video is that Corey Taylor likes the Bee Gees.
I don't mean that as a bad thing, or to make fun, either.
Rhcp made an album in san Francisco and they rented an actual haunted house and they told the ghosts to jion in and then found extra drum beats that were not played by Chad.
Jesus, that's creepy as hell!
Dream Widow (Dave Grohl and/or Foo Fighters) came out the same day Taylor Hawkins died.
suprised foo fighters medicine at midnight wasn't mentioned, they apparently recorded in a haunted house
Great video as always.
The only stories I know are from RHCP, Slipknot and MCR so the rest of these were still definitely interesting to hear
with OK Computer, it’s worth saying that thom yorke starts the album with airbag. a song about how he saw aliens and is terrified of that experience
subterranean homesick alien**
How did Monolith of Phobos by The Claypool Lennon Delirium or Midnight Sun by The Ghost Of A Sabertooth Tiger, not make this video. Sure these albums are not “haunted” per se, but there is a lot of creepy stuff if you look into the lyrics of both albums.
Shout WITH the devil could have been an improvement. A lost opportunity. Now humanity has to suffer with Motley Crue using backing tracks from here until Revelation. Total bummer.
Radiohead: in an interview promoting the release of "OK computer", they also said that during the recording, the tape machine would just stop in the middle of a take and start rewinding. They had an engineer come, strip it down and couldn't find a problem. It continued to do it. Engineer came back. Still no problems found. Ironically, they didn't like talking about it because they didn't want the press to call "OK computer" a 'haunted album'!
I don't know what's funnier the fact that the song that semi inspired the Demi-Fiend's design from Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne is from a haunted album. Or the fact that I'm jealous a bunch of ghosts got to hear the recording of Welcome to the Black Parade.
I always thought the mars volta were just trying to promote their albums and I didnt find it tolerable. I loved Bedlam in goliath. Maybe if they included the board game with the album....you know..... they tell us about this exciting egyptian ouigi board and the nerve to not even include it with the album.
The song that used to freak me out is Diary Of A Madman.
Best scene of Rick Rubin Mansion(Haunted House) Chester Bennington knocks on the door and in next scene they show snake,Cobra i think,Minutes To Midnight Dvd Making Of,hillarious.
Meatloaf was on so much coke in the 70s, I have no doubt he saw all kinds of crazy sh*t.
I'm only here because I am curious.
Very surprised that Portrait of an American Family- recorded at the Tate House where the Manson Family murders took place - wasn't on here
My favorite one is black sabbaths album its pretty interesting and funny knowing that the band pulled pranks till breaking point
So here's a story about a haunting Brian Johnson says he was visited by Bon Scott while recording Back in Black. He won't say anything more than that he told the story on Behind The Music
I think Brians best vocal is Hells Bells. He sounds like hes channeling something.
Funny I had just googled this because even when I heard slayer or possessed at night I would see shit or my volume on mi walkman got louder by itself. So i could imagine slayer or any evil band getting haunted.
I would consider recording in the pyramid an act of reverence if I did it
It’s vastly that none of these bands were on copious amounts of drugs and alcohol at the time.
Yeah...not a good idea to play with things you have NO control over. A spirit board predicted the death of Randy Rhoads to Ozzy.
Top 10 of bands who don't understand the outcome of substance abuse.
I'm surprised The Downward Spiral isn't on the list, when it was recorded in the mansion where Sharon Tate and her friends were murdered.
Unless it's The litanies of Satan by Diamanda Galás, I'm not buying the claims of hauntings or possessions.
What about papa roach paramour sessions
Well, if nothing else, glad that Corey Taylor gave all of his "filthy bits" the attention they deserved! The guy knows a thing or two about showering.
Videos like this just makes me roll my eyes. Most of these things are probably just bullshit made up for free marketing for the records.
Also, people feeling really down for various things... Your brain extremely often fucks around with you. The only time I've experienced "hauntings" were during the time I had the most problems with anxiety and clinical depression. Coincidence? I think not.
Down spiral nin video to making of it talk about haunt stuff
