They also covered Wake Me Up When September Ends which is one of the less inappropriate Green Day songs but certainly fits into the trend of “weirdly depressing for a Kidz Bop album” here because clearly when I think of songs to play for my hypothetical elementary school aged child I think of a song about a man trying to process the grief of his father dying when he was young which the public (incorrectly but still) recontextualized to 9/11. At best yeah there’s some songs you grow up and realize have more mature meanings, but I still think this belongs in a potential part 2 for the “WTF were they thinking?” factor
And this is coming from someone who went weirdly viral on the old Kidz Bop site at age 11 or so because that’s what you did when you wanted to make video content but mom didn’t let you have a CZcams account yet

Ok so former Kidz Bop kid here yes I'm partiality responsible for Bring Me To Life back then the recording booth was more like a closet and everyone recorded thier parts separately it was all one take for everyone. And clearly there's no pitch correction so the engineer had to take a bunch of vocal tracks Frankenstein it into a choir regardless of if the timing is off over a karaoke track. Despite Kidz Bop 2 and 2 going gold Razor and Tie made the recording cheap as possible for maximum profit.
So if I have two gold records and they made them cheap as possible...how are my royalties? What royalties? My mom (not me) got paid 200 dollars a day.

I remember when Kidz Bop did an album called “Monster Ballads", which is basically a bunch of covers of 80s rock power ballads. It included a really bad cover of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" with Bret Michaels himself on guitar, along with his daughters. But that's not all. They also butchered "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue, "Forever" by KISS, "I Remember You" by Skid Row, and many more.
The worst offender, though, is their god-awful cover of "Patience" by Guns N' Roses. Whose idea was it to have kids sing a song that probably made them want to fall asleep when they heard it for the first time? The original is already boring and terrible to begin with, but having kids sing it makes it like 100x worse.

Now, at the time, it was literally just because I liked the song. But I did go on to experience pretty horrific child abuse just a year or so later, and moved out of the house the same day I graduated high school, so it was kinda like fucked up dark comedy foreshadowing. 💀
