I recently heard a rumor that one of the legitimate reasons why Disney has put in a more stringent policy about not wearing shirts they dont approve of at Disney (you now have to go buy an overpriced disney shirt to change into, and more likely or not they can ask you to leave), is to prevent all the people who have been going into Disney wearing INK shirts and taking pictures with mascots in a kind of meme-ish protest of their band from disney owned venues.
Ice Nine Kills being banned is probably one of the funniest things ive seen because the guys in the group are such good people like every interview i see with Spencer he's just such a nice guy
I mean, I get why, but it's still dumb. Cattle Decapitation is rather obvious. I wonder if this was before or after THAT video (you know what I mean)? Cannibal Corpse, yeah, no duh!
Honestly it seems to me that a lot of these bans, not just INK's, while you can at least kind of see where Disney is coming from they still seem very arbitrary and pointless. Disney hasn't figured out how to separate their art from the artists they permit to perform in their venues.
No but seriously… I’ve seen clips of them outside of the band. They seem like genuinely good people. Hell, they’re good friends with Dead Meat James. I just started laughing because I knew they were going to be on this list
Disney House of Blues: Okay to host - WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR GOD NOW? Not Okay to Host - Going down the drain tonight.... I'm not even a Christian for offended by Ronnie questioning religion but come on now. If a family friendly, supposedly wholesome company is fine with having a recovered drug addict sing about his drug history and taunt people for their religious beliefs, all while having to wonder if he's going to chuck a mic stand into the crowd or do some other outrageous nonsense why can't they have a band singing songs about horror movies and pantomiming a couple horror movie kills...?
Machine Head's ban got lifted a few years ago. Saw them at the HoB shortly before the plague. It was awesome. I've also seen two other bands on this list at higher-capacity venues than the HoB.
07 blackening tour . Disney pulled MFNH last min bc of content in lyrics. Didn't know until after the fact. Then had to mad rush to club Firestone? Missed all the bands ..... except MACHINE FUCKING HEAD. AWESOME SHOW. AT THE END ROB TOLD DISNEY HOW HE FELT AND SMASHED THE MIC. EPIC .
that's good. it would be weird for them to be banning these anti-religion, anti-conservative bands only to turn around and have religious conservatives wage a culture war against you for being "woke"
Going to Disney Land while wearing a Banned by Disney shirt is now on my bucket list. And if I get kicked out, I'll request to have my picture taken with security.
As someone in Orlando, in production, and have worked at house of blues, you missed the biggest one of all.. Steel Panther got kick off stage at HOB mid concert, and is one of the most legendary stories about any band ever at HOB Orlando.. Now there’s a video for you. You’re welcome LOL
I think I read one day where Slayer was invited to Disney for some commercialism but wasn't allowed to play at their venues. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Now imagine if INK made a song based on children’s horror movies, specifically Disney ones, like if they did a song based on HalloweenTown. I wonder if they’d be allowed to perform that at Disney.
I can't confirm this because they somehow did get to play there once, but it's long been rumored within the DIR EN GREY fandom that they were banned from the Orlando HOB after their one and only show there in early 2007. They do have a lot of brutal imagery in their lyrics and videos, and at the time, Kyo was doing a self-mutilation act during one specific song in the set. So if they were banned after the fact, I totally get it. But as I said, can't totally confirm.
What I didn't know they had played there long ago. They're my favorite band so it surprised me, but yeah I can see why they were banned their early shows were quite graphic
I'm sure that someone at the house of blues thought it would be funny to see if they could get Cannibal Corpse knowing that corporate wouldn't let it happen
As an Orlando native, I wonder why the tour managers/booking agents aren’t just booking these bands at Hard Rock or another local venue instead of bypassing Orlando all together. 🤷♂️
I mean the same could be asked for really any booking decisions when it comes to large touring bands. Good example from my personal life and experience is Linkin Park. I had the privilege of seeing them three times before Chester's passing. All in Michigan, since that's where I'm born raised and still residing. Twice at the Joe Louis Arena when it was still open, and once at the Palace of Auburn Hills (again, while it was still open.) Why did they or their tour managers chose one venue over the other for any of those three tours? I'm not sure there is very much of a rhyme or reason behind these kinds of decisions to be honest. I think it's just beholden to when they want to be in a specific state, perhaps what would be most convenient travel wise, and what is available venue wise.
I was oddly enough about to bring up Dethklok before you mentioned it because yeah in 2012 not only did they have Murmaider in all its titty fish glory but also the music video for Andromeda makes that one look like Bluey. Seriously though it is VERY NSFW to the point where a clean rip still isn’t available (that nor Ghost Queen which kind of sucks because both are arguably some of their best music videos) …I guess Nathan being good pals with Mickey Mouse helped (/ref)?
There’s a story that in the mid 70s the Disney Theatre in New York attempted to book Ramones, as they were under the assumption that they were a white Jackson 5 style band.
House of Blues is no longer at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. It has been at another non Disney location in Anaheim called The Garden Walk for a good few years now. So I'm sure these bands are allowed back at Anaheim HOB again now.
Dang it, I was hoping you would be able to enlighten me as to ETID's ban. I was so mad when they were pulled from the Underoath show in Orlando. They were 90% of the reason I wanted to go to the show, and the venue had the audacity to tell me that since it wasn't the headliner that was removed, I wasn't owed a refund.
It's also frustrating because it was definitely a more recent ban. I saw ETID at HoB orlando with Killswitch Engage in like 2007, though even at that show Disney had banned Parkway Drive and Dillinger Escape plan from opening
They let Cradle of Filth and Dethklok play at the House of Blues, but not Machine Head and Every Time I Die? Even though everyone knows that Cradle of Filth and Dethklok for their violent lyrics and imagery!
Yeaaaah I would be surprised Disney would allow a band named Cannibal Corpse on their shows. But seriously, imagine watching one of those Disney sitcoms only for one character to listen on-screen to "Forced Gender Reassignment" by Cattle Decapitation.
Man these are all my favorite bands to see live too. Cattle Decapitation, Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Disney are massively stupid to not host shows by them.
The band The Pimps, previously The Goodyear Pimp, is signed by Disney. Almost all of their discography is about drugs. When they signed they had to drop the Goodyear, I can't remember why. But that info is straight from the front man's mouth.
I remember Huntress saying they couldn't play "I Want to Fuck You to Death" at HOB in Orlando. Makes me wonder what other songs were banned. And yet I've seen Gwar play there many times
I’m actually surprised there aren’t way more. Even bands that make less sense, Disney sooo protective of their image that I would think if ANYTHING was a risk they would ban. I’m more surprised that you had to go to metal band so often to get the list done!
I don’t know about Letlive. these days, but their show I saw around 2010 was off the chain. The singer tore his shirt in half, climbed the amp stack and jumped off, and he tried to swallow the mic practically along with seemingly trying to concuss himself with it. I was in high school and hadn’t seen anything like it in person at the time.
Machine Head isn't banned anymore but i heard that I guess after the initial ban they booked a show there then disney remembered and pulled it. So the fact that they played there again either they lifted the ban or forgot again.
Considering that I'm anti-Disney, I feel like, if I were part of a band, that sentiment I have would be the only reason for me and the band to get banned.
The algorithm decided I'd be late to this video, but I just have to say that I'd absolutely ride that Cannibal Corpse-themed Splash Mountain. Even better if I can wear a white Mickey shirt and have it come out bloodstained, because I'd frame that.
It’s sounds pretty petty to ban some bands for not a whole of reason. If it’s for darker themes, Disney has had some darker themes in films for decades.
Disney also allowed Arch Enemy too (during the time Angela was in the band, and six years ago, when we just got Alissa's second album "Will to Power") and they sing a lot about anarchy, anti-religion, rebellion too.
Morbid Angel played once. Hasn't been back so I suspect that was it. I saw opeth there. It was heritage tour so the show was all clean vocal. Hasn't been back that I know of so... maybe? It was a great show and it was sold out....
Thy Art Is Murder was played on a radio station in Sydney Australia that markets itself as: plays Pure gold classic hits from the last four decades but it is too much for Disney?
That would be a twist if Dethklok was invited to House of blues which I know nothing about yet what would that mean for adult swim if they were if they performed live with Rick and Morty as guest members of Dethklok
They played recently too. I was tempted to go to see if they'd get canceled day of but it went without a hitch. So they either lifted the ban or simply forgot. It's like how Judas Priest is banned from Madison Square Garden at this point I think only the band is aware of the ban the venue is probably clueless.
I saw Cannibal Corpse headline HOB orlando with Dying Fetus, and Necrophagist in 2006. Don’t know if the banned happened after that I also know TDEP played HOB with misery signals in the early 2000s The Faceless is also banned from Disney … no reason was given
I saw Dillinger escape plan at house of blues in Anaheim. The singer totally bashed some girl in the crowd. Like said some kind of sketchy stuff. I assume that’s why they got banned.
Gallows were banned from HOB Anaheim in 2008 after hearing Orchestra of Wolves. Shai Hulud got banned from HOB Anaheim when touring with New Found Glory and Bayside in 2009.
Oh the irony of a company that secretly puts out gory horror movies through a company they finance new line cinema (the Texas chainsaw massacre etc) banning bands for lyrical content!

That’s bordering on discrimination, tbh.
So I was going to say Exodus if you hadn't put them on the list. I was living in Tampa at the time and was originally planning to go to Orlando to see Exodus so when they announced they were going to Tampa instead it just meant I didn't have to make an hour plus drive down I-4. I was at the Orpheum show they played instead. Off topic but the security at the Orpheum has a well known bad reputation when I lived in Tampa and sure enough I saw some body builder security dude punching a dude in the face while taking him out from the pit for basically no reason. A Lesson In Violence indeed.
I remember a time in the mid 00's when ALL metal bands were banned by HOB Orlando. They went through a few years where they wouldn't let any metal band, no matter the genre, play there. This has since been reversed obviously but it was an annoying few years for metal fans in Orlando. Also, the Orpheum in Tampa is a fucking trash venue. Barely A dive bar. Exodus did NOT trade up with that show switch. They banned Warbringer for writing songs about real wars. Funny, I've seen Sabaton at that HOB and they do the exact same thing. I've also seen Steel Panther at that HOB. Now if we're talking about a band with questionable lyrics......
I believe after their last HoB appearance, Steel Panther was banned. I believe they then got banned from Hard Rock live, and that's why they typically play The Plaza Live when they come to town.
Not the same genus, but the one I was expecting to see was DeadMaus, after a years-long dispute over use of intellectual property, with both sides claiming infringement of the other.

Dethklok not getting banned from Disney should be a Metalocalypse episode where the band TRY to get banned from Disney.
That is already better than anything a Disney related writer has come up with in recent memory.
It would be hella funny if Dethklok made an episode where they got banned 😂
This would be amazing!
Ice Nine Kills being banned is probably one of the funniest things ive seen because the guys in the group are such good people like every interview i see with Spencer he's just such a nice guy

Hammer smashed mountain
I still find it ironic that they didn’t let INK play in House of Blues but they let FIR play there when Ronnie is the more violent one
Six Flags stopped having bands play at their parks because Ronnie hit a girl in the face with a microphone stand during a show.
Disney House of Blues:

Okay, an almost necessary follow-up: the ten most absurd bands allowed to play at Disney.
I don't know if they'd count as absurd, but Sevendust hold the record for playing the most shows at the Orlando HOB
@@TimmyTickledefinitely not an absurd band, but yeah they definitely play there quite often.

Not sure but that sounds like Disney.
The Nazi imagery doesn’t help them, given what Disney would like to forget about Walt.
I just think it is really funny that INK got banned from Disney. After a nice fun day at Disney, you get to see Spencer tear it up on stage literally.

I had some great times at the old orpheum but I'm glad it got moved it was really the worst when it came to sound system.
Rockin the Better Lovers shirt, nice!
Video: criticising Disney
Disney: want a princess tower?
That sounds about right. I'll never be able to beat out Disney advertising.
If your band has a dark name, then Disney gets a little scared...lol
Man, Mickey is strict
As somsome whos seen Letlive about 5 times. All 5 times their set was wild. This ban doesn't suprise me because Jason definitely gets wild.
What was the song letlive was performing in that section in the video?
I saw this channel on the rizz show
I would actually ride splash mountain if it was CC themed
I'm surprised Rammstein wasn' on the list
Disney has integrity???
ICP got banned after they were signed by Disney they were dropped right as a album was being released
Not the same genus, but the one I was expecting to see was DeadMaus, after a years-long dispute over use of intellectual property, with both sides claiming infringement of the other.
lol I have worn an Ice Nine Kills Freddy Kroger Mickey Mouse Shirt to Disneyland and haven’t been told anything 😂🤣 multiple times
Interesting. Banned from HOB's on Disney grounds but not HOB altogether. I've seen many of these acts at the Sunset Blvd location
D-A-D, formerly known as Disneyland after Dark got sued by Disney in the past, so I don't think they would be allowed there either.
As an Orlando resident that goes to shows at HOB, I will miss none of these bands. Also there is a Hard Rock Live down the road they can play at
The bands don't choose the venues they play at.
