He also don’t mention that the more hardcore you get, the more chances you have to buy day one, so the cost are virtually the same for consoles and pc. I’ve been playing on pc for 3 years, and most of the AAA title I bought were priced exactly the same at launch. Games sales are more often on pc though, if you wait before buying the game.
If you don’t care about playing day one, which is kind of taking for granted in this video, than XGP is the best deal to minimize your gaming cost.

Man, my numbers are totally different to yours in terms of game purchasing. I probably buy around 10 PS4 games a year, but almost never for more than £15 each (call it $20). And 20-25 steam games, for maybe £10 max aside from a few specific things. So it's close to £150 on PS4 and £200 on PC, but I'd never pay for extra storage. I tend to play one game solidly and then either I get bored of it or complete it and it goes off my drive. I have ~12 games installed on either platform at any given time, but most of those are casual/party games that I'm unlikely to be willing to wait for when I want to play them.
I guess I'm closest to the second profile you suggested, but none of them are particularly close to me. Interesting how peoples' habits differ.

Yeh, I feel like the game price estimates are going to vary wildly from person to person. This might have been more useful without that included, even though it can be a consideration. I purchase most games around the same $20 price range, with the exception of first party Nintendo games. They rarely drop below $35-40, so a $10 pre-order bonus and getting to play the game 1-2 years earlier seems good enough.

      @xboxmods Před 3 lety +2

@El-ahrairah I think that's a fair point, but I don't know if it's as much of an issue for this console generation. Both consoles are highly backward compatible, and offer a lot of benefits in older games. Also, you can still find some good deals if you shop around. I got a Series X, and so far just bought Watch Dogs: Legion for $30(physical). Other than that I have been playing older games like Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 which got patches for the new hardware. So while it's not a totally new game, you can still see the hardware benefits just like after you upgrade your PC.

Also PC has emulators so you can play some PS2/Xbox era or older console games on PC if you have it beefed up. Maybe even Xbox one and PS3 games, but I'm not sure about those. And of course, mobile games like Diablo immortal. Yeah! Who needs phones anyway? xD
Also I forget to mention this, but PC has waaay more games to chose from, and it's way easier to troubleshoot and fix buggy games, mod them, and do all kinds of other cool stuff. To me the PC is still the best option as I really like to experience new indie titles that cost way too much on consoles even during sales, also most of these run even on potato PCs while usually gets locked on new console gens.
You should also consider accessories costs, I'm still playing games on PC using Xbox 360 controllers and I intend keeping it that way, so I'll be carrying the same controllers for the third gen in a row, that saves A LOT of money! This rule also applies for other accessories like racing wheels for example, there's a bunch of people who still plays new racing games with their old Driving Force GTs or G25s for example while on consoles you would have to get a new one after one or two generations.
The free remasters rule used to be something on the current gen but not so much now with the PS5 and Series X, as you would almost always get the remastered versions for free on PC uppon their release or you would automatically sort of get yourself a remaster after an upgrade as you would be able to crank the settings on your old game now that you've got a newer more powerful system.
I've been a console player most of my life and entered the PC gaming world by the beginning of the current gen and also grabbed a PS4 to play the exclusives, and man I really miss a lot of QOL features that I have got used to on Steam that the PS4 lacks, it's still a cool system but I'll surely build a new rig for the next gen onwards and it'll be really difficult trying to convince me to go back to consoles.
And besides all that, at the moment PCVR is really awesome and IMO way more interesting than every new AAA game that plays the same as the last gen games did but just have a new coat of painting over it, I'm kind of bored of the AAA formula, lack of innovation and inclusion of RPG Mechanics on everything.

As someone who plays both some things to consider are:
    1. Some of the absolutely ridiculous steam sales on some popular titles. seeing bundles worth $80 go down to $10.
    2. When buying additional storage you really don't need to spend that much on an SSD. Yes on paper that SSD is equal to the SSDs of consoles but you can be cheaper NVME SSDs or SATA SSDs which for gaming have a practically unnoticeable performance impact on boot times for half the price.
    3. SUBJECTIVE PC has its own exclusives like CSGO as well as having access to some of the exclusive games on Xbox like the Halo series.
    4. Keyboard and mouse doesn't need to be that expensive really. That's a good thing about PC that if you don't really care about super nice equipment you can choose to pay less. you can even find mechanical keyboards which are fine to use for under $30 and if you don't want mechanical you can always buy a normal one for under $20. Same goes for a mouse there are plenty of sub $30 mice out there. With a Console,if one breaks you want to buy some extras you have to spend the listed price or find some off-brand controller that often breaks in a year.
Then there's the elite/scuf controllers which are massively overpriced imo. High-quality KB&M costs much less than they normally do. Xbox elite is listed at $160 for me and you definitely can get equally nice PC stuff for that money
    4. Depending on the games you play and your subjective tastes the PC will have a higher performance ceiling than the consoles assuming you get an RTX 3060. It will likely run most games at a higher FPS which is good for FPS games and will manage 60 FPS on games like cyberpunk if you use features like DLSS which boost FPS with more or less no loos in quality unless you really go out of your way to look for it. Console games are typically better optimised but features like DLSS definitely make up for it.

I still have the Samsung Odyssey Plus I got 2 years ago and basically nothing is a real upgrade from it. It has a 90hz OLED display with the exact same resolution. Plus it also is inside out tracking thanks to being windows mixed reality. Downside is having to trick games its a rift to run some games. Basically put the Index for 4 times to price I paid is only moderately better with a higher resolution, 20 degrees bigger FOV (though that also means resolution look worse), and better controllers. Though I can always trick my headset to use the index controls with a bit of effort but I only paid $200 for my headset so it's not a good deal. Plus the Samsung has a special filter the Index lacks making the screen door effect less noticeable and it's OLED so darks are better. It's better but just not worth it.

    Just a couple of thoughts:
    - Price for added storage for PS5 and PC is likely to decrease substantially over time, whereas for XBox it will have a more rigid price for longer
    - I know it's kind of a cheat, but a person buying a console is okay with it for several years, whereas a person spending 1k (or more) for a custom PC is much more likely to upgrade this component or that component over time. This means that the hardware cost is not just the initial one. With that said, PS4 Pro and XBox One X showed that there can be mid-generation upgrades for hardware, so that kind of messes up everything anyway

If you have a budget over 1000 dollars and are prepared to spend that, buy a pc because they are truly worth the experience. It is not really cheaper than a console, but the performance, quality of the games, settings you can activate and more are truly breathtaking. The mods you can install like shaders on minecraft for example or natural visions for gta make games look absurd. PC does more than gaming. You can use it basically for anything. From online schooling to video editing. Adding those extras makes PC much better choice and way cheaper. Plus it’s upgradable. You choose what settings you gonna play a game with what specs. I’m console the corporate is telling you in which settings you’re allowed to play and on which console specs. For all those reasons I can’t see my picture playing on console. People are different and fir many consoles make more sense. I’m ok with it. If you’re happy on console guys rock on. Enjoy it. There’s no wright or wrong. Different people have different needs and make different choices. I’m not here to bash anyone but just to give my point of view. Peace console players.

PC does tend to be more expensive up front, but long term I think the value proposition is far superior to consoles particularly if you know what you're doing and set yourself up for a good upgrade path. It certainly does take more work than a console though, which usually is basically plug and play.
Some other things to consider regarding PC:
Incremental upgrades extend the viability of the system far longer than a console at a fraction of the price depending on just how much you're willing to splurge on specific parts.
Now it is true that individual PC parts can be more expensive than entire consoles, but the savings come in when you consider that you can keep your mouse and keyboard and all your previous games with PC upgrades. Unless a console manufacturer opts to include backwards compatibility, which Nintendo and Sony don't seem inclined to do, you're left with three choices. Keep your old console to play the older games, leave those games behind, or be prepared to buy them again on the new console if they get ports or "remasters."
If you're really casual I can see why you'd prefer a console, but if you're an enthusiast and you're willing to do just a little extra work I feel you will get a much better experience from the PC platform.

A few things I'd like to add: The 980 Pro SSD is unnecessary and won't give any additional benefit, and the $50 wifi adapter is not needed as if your gaming you most definitely won't be using wifi (at least if you want to have a good experience) I'd personally cut the ssd to a more reasonable $130 which still gives you a 1TB NVME drive with insanely fast speeds, just not one that is overpriced like the one from Samsung. $1000 for the computer would be more reasonable.
And since you chose Logitech for your mice and keyboard, there is no need to factor in price to replace them, as Logitech peripherals don't break (Trust me, I've used Logitech my entire life, these things usually last 20+ *years* before they break)

With the scalpers feccing hoarding every single console/graphics cards, and reselling them for like triple the actual price.
It’s probably a cheaper to build PC with a 2080 instead of a 3000 series.
If we’re not talking the scalpers, PC is mostly like the most expensive way to run properly.
PC's are very expensive to build properly with modern specs, it’s 100% worth buying that bullet.

"Its a great time to be a gamer, everybody gets something..." Not really since everything is out of stock. 😂
Its actually very easy to decide.
    Console : 500$ 1 time for the next 6 years + another 500-600$ if you buy a new 4k Tv/Monitor.
Pc : atleast 1500$ + accessories for a good mid range tower ( not 4K capable ) + another 150-500 if you need a monitor. You also gonna invest overtime for new Ram,Processor,Video card... In 6 years time that Pc gonna cost you minimum 2000$ and you still gonna have all the Windows,Nvidia driver problems, crashes, incompatibility issues... On the other hand the console ( soon as they all patched ) are plug, install and play.
I was a Pc player til now. Console it is from now on. The quality for price is unbeatable.

@Chris67 I dont know if you know the youtuber/pc builder JayzTwoCents ? According to him ( he tried to build a console killer cheap as possible ) the lowest he could go without monitor was 1300$ . The best budget 4K monitor is around 400$. Thats already 1700$. And when im talking about native 4K im not talking about 4K on medium/low settings... Im talking Native 4K at minimum 60fps at high/ultra settings. For that my friend ( according to professional Pc builders ) you need atleast a 2080ti. Thats not 400$...
      Cyberpunk 2077 system requirements for 2160p gaming : rtx2080super or rtx3070 with i7.
That 2 components cost more than 3 consoles.

I have both console and PC. If you’re looking just to game and nothing else I would invest in a console. Pc is amazing for sure but if you’re just gaming and not using it for work, school, etc.. and have a laptop for that stuff it’s a lot of money to maintain just for a hobby to spend X amount of hours on gaming but hey man PCs are great in their own way as well just be ready to spend a bit more if you want a Good pc gaming experience

I'll be honest, I was ready to write this video as a (PRO/in defense of) PC video but it turned out to be pretty decent. Classifying gamer in ways other that PC/Console was refreshing and the spreadsheet was actual helpful breakdown. Definitely consider myself frugal though. 90% of my game library comes from PS+, GwG, and humble bundles the next 9% under $10

This is anecdotal obviously, but my experience with reliability heavily favors PC. Went through 2 Xbox 360s during that generation and 2 Xbox Ones. The 360s had RRODs and the One's had wifi board issues. Idk what's going on with Xbox quality control but its trash.

Hmmm.. Look my dude I really appreciate this video but I need more details about:
I need a full comparison between Xbox / Playstation / pc
On the amount and quality of games available / the exclusives / the cost of memberships the deals and offers / the backward compatibility / the free games.. The platform as a whole.
Lastly please talk about cross play.. I really hate the fact that it's a major factor that after comparing the fu#k out of xbox x / ps5 / pc I still have to choose what my friends are choosing..
I heard that cross play got some hope with next generation consoles.
Last concern about pc is that it's a solo experience I mean it's looks difficult to play with friends locally or with your significant other or watching movies.. How do pc users deal with it? Maybe a second monitor / tv is the solution?
I will sub and ring the bell incase you replied with a video but I'll gladly take a written reply because my concerns are too much lol
    (English isn't my first language)

I definitely feel (especially if you get a good keyboard, even for just $80) that a keyboard and mouse can definitely outlive a standard controller because they have less moving parts. That being said I also think most people would buy a controller for their pc anyways but that could be a $20 360 controller or a modern $60 controller. I understand why you didn't add them into the analysis though because you could keep nitpicking but I do think that it's sort of unfair to assume that a controller will last as long as a keyboard and mouse.

Unless maybe I zoned out and missed it I do think you missed one big savings factor of a PC. When a new console generation comes out if you want to upgrade you have to buy an entire new device. However with a PC you can slowly update your hardware over time to keep up with modeern games. Instead of needing to buy a whole knew thing all at once, you can buy a couple smaller scale upgrades over a number of years.

  • @kazinafiulhaquemohit9258

This was a good attempt at explaining the overall price difference that consoles and PCs are gonna have in the 7 year period. And I do agree with the overall sentiment that down the line, PC will eventually become more cheaper to sustain, although I do still have some doubts about that. But I think this video missed out on some important points.
The first is the primary use of digital media on PC compared to the use both physical and digital media on consoles, and that opens up a lot of cost cutting opportunities as now you can buy, sell, resell, rent, lend, etc. all of your games if you want to. There are also sales that go live regularly on both physical and digital games as well as the option for subscription services. So, if utilized properly then console gaming can end up being much cheaper when it comes to buying games.
The second thing I noticed was storage, why do console gamers NEED external storage as well as additional storage? Makes no sense. Honestly, you can go an entire generation with a console without ever having to expand your storage. Yes it is a little tedious of having to keep downloading games, but to me personally it's a better trade off than having to shell out a $100-200 on storage. However that is not the case for PC gaming cuz down the line, a gaming PC will definitely need more storage cuz even if you can download and redownload games, there are gonna be other things on your storage that you cannot replace.
You can also share the cost of online play with another person and get all the "free" monthly games.

Games are a bit cheaper on PC than consoles and even more so compared to the next gen console game prices. Plus, you can’t upgrade consoles halfway through unlike a pc where you can just swap things. Downside though are the exclusives. Non existent on PC.

What people don't seem to understand is that consoles are cheap in the now $500 might not seem like that much In the Heat of the Moment with the amount of money you're going to have to invest in it and I do mean have to, to be able to experiences certain features like online games upped price and (this is more of a PlayStation thing) next-gen graphic and performance upgrade why should you have to pay just to experience the features and performance of the hardware you already paid for

  • @thienlo

While owning one of these three is cost the same in 5 years, one thing to point out is buying new physical games on consoles you can resell after you are done playing. Not on pc because most games today are digital games, so you can't resell the games.

    • @Raveendhana

  • @EddieNiga
    @EddieNiga Před 3 lety

One thing people barely bring up when debating pc vs consoles is the fact that not only can you buy used console games, but also sell them when you're done playing them. This can save a lot of money in the long run. Buying everything digitally means once your money is spent, you can't win some of that money back ever. This can only be done on consoles.

  • @totalvoid6234

Best case scenario is the equivalent graphics card to the consoles is an RTX 3080. It will perform worse than the PS5 in 2027 but better for the first few years. But there's a fair to good chance that poor optimisation will mean even a top of the line PC built today will need a complete refresh in 3 years to compete with consoles. If you don't believe me then why aren't you still running an Nvidia 760 as your main gaming system? High end gaming PCs are expensive. They just are.
