    The most popular club in Israel, Beitar Jerusalem, has a new Gulf owner. This is nothing unusual for a football club these days. But this purchase was different because of Beitar Jerusalem's special place in Israeli football.
    Beitar Jerusalem is a big club with big ambitions, but they are being held back by their “far-right and extremely violent ultra-group”, La Familia.
    Why has the club never fielded an Arab player? Who are La Familia, and why do they have such a big say in how the club is run? Multiple owners have not managed to change the perception of the club, will this new one be able to?
    James Montague explains.

    Hello. I'm from israel and you've made a great research on beitar history. although i must fix one misconception about this club, beitar isn't the most popular club in israel, that perception may derive from the fact that beitar actually affiliate with the likud party which currently they are the dominant party in the israeli politics, but it doesn't necessarily mean that all of the party voters supports in beitar jerusalem as well.

    • @user-fc6iw1nd8r
      @user-fc6iw1nd8r Před 3 lety +17

      @@3dsaulgoodman43 honestly i cant give you an exact answer but hapoel tel aviv is one of the biggest teams of the israeli league ( there are 4 teams that considered as the biggest such: maccabi heifa, maccabi tel aviv, hapoel tel aviv, and beitar jerusalem. Traditionally, in terms of domestic titles and number of fans.)
      I would say that hapoel tel aviv has a good and loyal base of fans across the country, especially in kibbutzim and other cities that have a patterns of left parties voting. (In the old sector at least.)
      several years ago the club got relegated to the second league due to economic poor management, that later had lead to a deep crisis amid their fans. the club has managed to come back to the top league in the following season. right now the club is in the bottom of top league table.
      in my opinion hapoel tel aviv is struggling to attract new and young fans because the club as a brand is suffering from constant deterioration. the criticism in the media about the management and even their style of football might cause an attrition and disgust to certain people. in generally people wants to be associated with a successful brand and at the moment hapoel tel aviv it's just the opposite.
      i hope the things there will be ok and rebalance again someday because this club has a massive added value to the israeli football.

    Can you please do a video on what's going on with Manchester city and everton.
    The premier league stated that if less than 14 players were available that they'd REARRANGE the game after consulting both clubs.
    The premier league didn't consult everton, that's why they're asking for "full disclosure" on the matter, and yet the premier league is yet to respond.
    Please shed some light on this Manchester city bias. If we can get everton the win it will take away Manchester city's game in hand.
    Do city just get to rearrange matches whenever they want, I remember a serie a side had to take a loss because of covid and refusing to play while they had enough players. So just because Pep doesn't trust Stones, Mendy, and Foden. They get to just rearrange matches.

    I would like to show you a different side to this story. After the ownership agreement was announced, around 50 Beitar fans protested against it and racially abused Ali Mohammed. A week later, hundreds of Beitar fans came to the club's training ground, supported the new owner and Ali Mohammed. They hung a sign in the stadium that said "Ali Mohammed, 50 racist primitives can't hurt you". La Familia is just a radical minority that harms the club's image for decades. Most of the fans are supporting the move and working together in order to remove racism from the club.
