It's all too convenient even for the purposes of wrapping this all up in one episode.

    • @thomasschulz2167
      @thomasschulz2167 Před 11 měsíci +2

      Yes. By the end of the show, there's actually 3 Braxton's. One of the last lines in the show is all three will be properly reintegrated in time for their trial. In this instance this is an issue of temporal mechanics. The Captain Braxton of the time ship Relativity hadn't done anything wrong yet, he was only working to stop a temporal criminal w/out knowing the temporal criminal was a future him. But you lock Captain Braxton up after you figure out its the future version of him so the present version of him can't interfere with his own apprehension. After they're integrated, the Captain Braxton would face trial to prevent him from further access to time travel. Then the other 2 Braxton's would face an account of criminal time travel with charges of attempted ship destruction and murder of the Voyager crew and actual destruction and murder of the Voyager crew. Then an exo-temporal record of the events would be made and Braxton would be arrested shortly before making the jump to Voyager to plant the bomb.

      @@Twister6424 Neither. Ducane (Braxton's first officer) mentions as much in the episode. So, I guess you could say the "Source" is the episode itself or were you not paying attention? The only bit of speculation he has here is likely the last 2 sentences. The rest isn't.
      Given that the prime timeline doesn't have these events in play, doing as Ducane pointed out and reintegrating them before the trial effectively makes the entire jumping through time "un-happen". So, Janeway never encounters Braxton as a criminal on her ship up until the season 5 Prime timeline Janeway travels back to apprehend him. Beyond that, her timeline never intersected and she didn't meet him in the corridors earlier in her own timestream as a result.
      But, as Janeway once said, "Time travel. Since my first day on the job as a Starfleet captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes - the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache." Ironically, of course, she ends up in multiple temporal paradoxes and really doesn't remember them. (Time and Again being in season 1 where it actually "first" happens in the series.)

      @@IamJustJ. Let me help you out here, skippy. It's cute that you asked if I was paying attention. I offered my opinion of this episode, I never said I didn't understand it (as much as someone could understand a sci-fi episode's explanation of time travel and the multiple universe idea).
      Your comment is typical of some dude that tries to answer a question that was never there. Not only that, your attempt to sound smart is based on circular logic. You strike me as one of those guys that believes yelling the same exact thing louder and louder makes your answer more valid.
      Let me dumb it down for you since you not only missed answering this question the first time, but you're a year late. Just because you buy into the BS of a sci-fi episode doesn't make it any more valid. You actually support my point that this episode is "convenient" in that the three Braxtons will reintegrate. How nice a story like that is tied up in a simple explanation that tries to combine multiple and single universe ideas. Why is there a "reintegration" if there are multiple universes all of which have their own existence and own outcomes?
      And you clearly missed the underlying point of the second question that I asked, "if there was a source or if it was the logic of fandom." Let me dumb it down for you again since you're not paying attention. While good on you for quoting an episode, at the end of it all you're still talking out of your ass...and what's worse, you're doing it with such authority.
