I turned on an old episode the other day while I was playing Stellaris and Matt happened to be on fire in that episode and I actually felt a little tug in my chest. I didn't realize how much I missed the dude. I'm doubtful he'll ever make enough of a recovery to be able to return to the show. Hemorrhagic strokes are extremely destructive I'm afraid. RIP to a legend.

I'm not feeling bleak. These college protests are giving me a lot of hope because these guys are right: the problem isn't the protests. The problem is that if you question the basis of Israel it leads to questioning the basis of the American empire, and the elites can't have that.

-Got all homicide victims names tattooed on himself
-Taught the local Crips how to put forth a proposal to legally change the name from Braddock to "Braddocc" (it made it to be voted on, and narrowly lost)
-Attended many gang funerals (where he actually got dressed up)
-Lobbied for city infrastructure (salt in the winter, pothole fixing, repairing the broken streetlights , not just Pepsi machines)

Because Ukraine has become a proxy for US military infrastructure/US geopolitical interests by virtue of being propped up by its arms shipments and finance, which is similar to the position of Israel. So the people cheering for blood in Ukraine are also going to be the people cheering for blood in Palestine even if it appears contradictory when taken at face value. They aren't interested in taking strong ideological stances, just following whatever holds together America's waning hegemonic position.

We should not predicate our support for victims of imperialism based on how good they are as allies. Imperialism is unacceptable. If Ukraine becomes a Nazi state, (not just people claiming it, but doing it), then we'll deal with that later. You can't be on one side in one conflict and the opposite in another simply because they disagree with you on the conflict that isn't jn their country. @@PMac13 US support for Ukraine doesn't nullify the righteousness of Ukraine's cause. They are a democratic country that has been illegally invaded and has another nation state illegally annexing sovereign territory, while trying to erase their national identity and culture.
If the US suddenly advocated strongly for Palestinian rights and nationhood, and provided massive military and diplomatic support, that wouldn't automatically invalidate the justness of the Palestinian cause.
There are alot of Ukraine supporters who also support a free Palestine - although as one such person it is really disappointing to see the number of people in both camps doing insane mental gymnastics to not see the innate similarities in both cases. Israel is the occupier and aggressor - Russia is the occupier and aggressor. Palestinian deserve their identity and homeland, Ukrainians deserve their identity and homeland.
