The castle of Montmartin is located in the Doubs department in Franche-Comté. It's close to the Swiss border and also the french cities of Besançon, Vesoul, Baume-les-Dames, Montbéliard, Belfort and Mulhouse.
We are a young couple, 32 and 34 years old who has just bought this castle. We are giving you a home tour as if you were staying there ! Let's travel through time together to the 18e century !

I grew up in the older village house in Switzerland . All the door were shutting and open like the door you demonstrated at the begining. It brought back lovely memories of my chilhood . In year 2000 they condemn the house and demolish it . I felt so sad . . Hope you never change that door , so precious .l wonder now how old was that house .! I wonder how old is this system that was so simple , and come to think of it l have never ever seen since

Question: if you block up the bedroom fireplaces where us the heat? I didn't see radiators. And as a design feature you could place large, different height battery operated candles in the hearth given feeling of warmth and atmosphere depending on the period style you choose, of course.

On the floor you are showing us it looks like the layout has been changed in the 19th century. Some of the fireplaces date from this period maybe even later. They have probably divided bigger rooms into smaller ones as they were difficult to heat. That's why in the second room the 18th century window isn't centered to the room.

The beds need to sit higher off the floor. The curtains and curtain rods aren't the right decor for the time period . Need the gold mirrors over the fireplace mantles. Also please take out all of the carpet.. the wooden floors are time period for the Chateau. I notice all the bedrooms are on the smaller size except the honeymoon suite .. So where is the bathrooms for the smaller bedrooms going to be and will the guest have to share them?
