What Mercedes Is Offering Verstappen Is INSANE!

  • Mercedes desperation for a replacement driver for Lewis Hamilton has been obvious for weeks now. Toto Wolff has always enjoyed having top F1 drivers on his team, whether it was Michael Schumacher or Lewis Hamilton, but once his second seven time world champion leaves at the end of the year, he’ll be left with George Russell and whoever he can find in the drivers market. However, Toto isn’t the kind of guy to settle for second best and he is determined to get the best driver for next season, no matter what the cost. Today I’m going to check out the ludicrous offer that Mercedes are going to make to Max Verstappen, so don’t go anywhere.

    This is why the drivers salaries should be included in the budget cap so big budget teams can't buy drivers and offer them more than for 1 year than a small team can for 5 years. This completely negates the budget cap.

    • @Rozic745
      @Rozic745 Před 20 dny +1

      Driver salaries won't be added to the cap. From my understanding, the only reason the cap rule passed was the section of having a driver's salary included was removed. The drivers don't want to make less money. They have more influence on rule making then people believe.

    • @trentsayers951
      @trentsayers951 Před 20 dny +1

      @@Rozic745 Ya, I know that drivers salaries won't be included in the budget cap but they should be. Obviously their sponsorships and bonis structures shouldn't be but their base salary should be to make it more fair. Teams can still pay drivers what they want but it takes away from what they can spend on the car. Also if they included driver salaries i would raise the budget cap to 300 million euros.

      @@FlipDeRiviera So you're saying you would rather have Mercedes Ferrari and Red Bull spend 3 times as much money as every other team and win every year while there is a rotation of teams being bought and sold at the bottom of the field. Also yes i know how money Stroll and Aston Martin have so they would spend probably more than everyone but never win because Lance will never lose his seat and Stroll will go bankrupt and have to sell to the Saudi's and somehow they will still stop Andretti from joining F1 and piss off all the fans in North America.

    2 Points. First, Max Verstappen's achievements are already celebrated, just not by Lewis fans. It will not take a few years. Second. This is not about money so there doesn't have to be a ludicrous deal on the table. For team Verstappen, it is all about winning, so as long that is continuing (in the Red Bull) there is not need to change, regardless of the offer on the table. The critical point will be the 2026 car. And I think that, especially given the recent track record of Mercedes not getting to grips with the 2022 regulations, promises and good intentions, are not what would entice team Verstappen to make a switch. So, I think that they will wait until they find out what is happening in 2026 and then make their decision. And that would be the most sensible thing to do. Unless they have prior knowledge, for example towards the end of 2025, about the 2026 car and then compare it to the data from let's say Mercedes.
    Anything that is decided this year, is betting on a dark horse and I just don't see team Verstappen doing that. They will continue to want to win this year and at least 2025 and only Red Bull will give them the highest chance for Max to become a 5 time World Champion. After that, anything is possible. And don't rule out a move to Aston Martin, given that they will have Honda engines in 2026 so they could be a really interesting option plus Max and Fernando get along really really well and Laurence Stroll can make most things happen with his spending power.

    Max will move to Mercedes with big clauses that Mercedes should give him a top car, otherwise they he will be able to move freely by actioning the exit clause. It will be a blow to Horner, and RB will struggle to keep the performance. With the exit of Newey, and other staff, Red Bull will not be a good option and even Sainz will not go there if he is smart. Take the Audi deal as they will have a lot of money and a good lineup with Hulkenberg.
