But he wasn’t in a poly/open relationship, at least his partner didn’t know they were, she said it was a monogamous relationship and if he’d come to her and said he wanted an open relationship she would’ve been okay with it, having been in a poly relationship before him.
He wanted to have his cake and eat it too. He was fine with himself sleeping around but he didn’t want the women to sleep around because he’s insecure (notice his hate campaign against the girl who remained Poly and her partner)

That's usually what happens in these types of relationships. You'll see time and time again where the partner who suggested the open relationship had been cheating long before or wants to start without fear of being caught. TikTok and reddit are filled with horror stories of this.

@silversmoke6 Not saying he's right with what this guy did but he did say, that's what happens in most of these situations. Most don't ACTUALLY want their others to be in other relationships, they just want to cheat and maybe be manipulative enough to not have the other do the same.
Most will set up a ton of rules about what you need to do and how to do it but hide and do it behind their backs, all while manipulating how and why the other shouldn't or can't see others.

Polyarmory is HEAVY about consent and its one of the biggest parts. His lying is begind foul and out everyone's sexual health at risk. "Don't defend me, don't praise me" he genuinely seems narcissistic and I don't throw that word around EVER.

It's honestly not a stretch. You're already being unfaithful. Most of the times the party who brings up they want an open relationship has been cheating and now just wants a "get out of jail free" card. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Someone is bound to get hurt due to the nature of the situation. You hear it all the time on Reddit and TikTok. And if you want to get political with it; women tend to have the short end of the stick on things and are usually the party that is hurt because someone, somewhere developed more feelings for one person over another.

As an aside, if anything he said or did directly caused people to lose work, and they can prove it, they definitely should talk to a lawyer about a defamation claim and a claim if tortious interference with contracts/damaging their ability to make a livelihood (like one of the things that Lauren the Mortician was trying to sue The Girlies for... but actually genuine).

He later asked to be monogamous but that doesn’t undo what he started the relationship as. Which was poly and still cheating. He admits it at 12:36 he knowingly got into a poly relationship by choice. Him “changing” his mind was clearly a way of him covering up the cheating he was already doing. He wanted to be poly because he thought that would give him free license to do whatever he wanted. When it didn’t go his way he flipped the script

Finally a drama I can be an authority on! I followed Gabe for years and found out that this happened via a TTRPG kickstarter that he was employed by, just after PAX East concluded, saying that they were no longer affiliated with him. He tended to be very... pervasive in the space? Like he worked the virtual rooms, and it worked for him. He was even the DM for a season of big shows like Dimension 20 on the streaming service Dropout.
I believe you and I got the same e-mail from the same kickstarter. I know some of the other folks who work on that game and they're such lovely people. Gabe is pretty much done for now.

I dated a poly dude and he cheated on me twice... technically. Except the second time was... shall we say... a group activity involving six other people. I'm still fairly open to a poly relationship because I'm ace and I know that anyone I might want to date might not be, but I honestly haven't dated since. As someone who has a person in the family with the same behaviours, i can confidently say that the reason why these people lie and backstab others is because they enjoy it.
Creating chaos, distrust and manipulating others makes them feel powerful. It's fun, empowering and the more they do it without getting caught, the stronger and more confident they feel.
Also, the harder it is to actually get them. They will weasel their way out of trouble everytime, pit people against each othet to avoid consequence and relationships be dammed, they'll nuke their family if it means keeping their lies and schemes safe.
This is so wild. Because the 3 biggest rules in polyamory are consent, communication and respect to ALL parties. If you are in a relationship with someone, or multiple, and you want to get with someone new, all of your partners need to know and your new potential partner must know of the other relationships beforehand. Even just a simple, "hey, I'm going out with someone new today," is a perfect level of communication. And your partners are free to ask you to sit down first and have a more in depth conversation about this new partner before or afterwards. Polyamory is not for everyone, most people would not be able to handle the emotional strain of loving multiple people and that's perfectly fine. Which is why I will always scream that polyamory is valid, when you do what you can to make sure it's done well, and obviously every web is going to be different, but find what works, and as long as you follow those three rules, it should be ok.
This man is not poly though, he's a conman. That's not even a joke, he did nothing but lie to convince others of whatever he wanted them to think. He liked the feeling of betraying another and thought he could get away from it by infiltrating a community that the majority assumes is just "free passes to cheat" (that misconception really pisses me off). But no it's a lot more difficult to get away with cheating in the world of polyamory, but this guy managed it.

To emphasise just how big of a creator gabe was he was on dimension20 (one of the biggest ttrpg actual play shows) as the gm with a game that he created as well as having published a kids guide to ttrpg that sold rlly well because he had created it as well as publishing a game to help with session zero (although more info has come to light since this that he had hardly contributed to this project and it was more his copartner in that project)- like he was big big big and he messed it all up because he decided to not only cheat even though he literally could have just been in a polyam relationship but to try and ruin other creators careers as well

The best part is, even if they had entered into a polyamorous relationship, he still likely would have cheated and manipulated those he’s interested in. It’s no secret that polyamorous folks who have no ethics and morals will still be super sneaky and not forthcoming about their sexual activities, putting every single partner of theirs at risk for transmission. Some people interpret open relationships and polyamory as meaning there doesn’t have to be open communication and honesty, and those folks are menaces.
A good group and a good game open doors for catharsis and community, and ruining that for people is hideous.

To be fair, role playing groups tends to breed drama. We're the worst possible mix of drama kids, eclectic art types, nerds, geeks, and creatives. There's a reason there's a general rule that you never date the dm.

Left that game after not liking the ruleset changes made, and the player pool and have had maybe one incident playing a myriad of other games. I still get to hear stories from people that do still play and it's just gotten worse over time.

Now that you mention it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him and Brennan work together. Obviously I’m speculating, but Brennan has been in the community forever and has a pretty good nose for bs.
As someone who knows Gillian, (we were both cosplay guests and had tables next to each other at a con.) They are an extremely kind, understanding and compassionate person. From their actions I have not met someone who respected theirs and others relationships and significant other more.
It’s sickening how Hicks pitted everyone against each other and how he targeted and romantic and emotionally manipulated so many.
Please if you can and are willing to show all those who were wronged compassion and kindness.
It feels like a PR team wrote his lines. What he's saying sounds good in a vacuum but he's not acknowledging and denying or taking responsibility for the accusations. It will probably go over well for people who only hear his side and that's about it. Lines like that are good for avoiding being sued but make you seem both guilty and like you regret nothing but getting caught.

I have long since learned to never trust someone who bad-mouths others at all times and always appears to be the victim in their situations. Those people are just untrustworthy. This guy is such a creep. I hope these people can move on from his damage path and that he gets permanently banned from their community. Hopefully if he makes his way into another community, people get warned about him.
Oof, I feel bad for those people who have to re-film an entire campaign. Thats going to cost money and time, and any hype they had will have fizzled out by the time they relaunch. There were probably some great moments filmed that can never be replicated simply due to the nature of the game. And they can't even edit him out like literal bad actors from movies

When you fall into a good ol' chronic liar, they LOVE drama, but they also try to get people to say shit about others, so they can have that in their back pocket... or front pocket... and seem like they are on your side. They will also try to get shit from you and how you feel about the people they are bad mouthing, so again, they can be everyone's friend, while everyone hates each other. It's quite common, sadly.

My ex was exactly like this. He was abusive and he couldn’t stand it because alone. So instead of believing me that I adored him (which I did. I would have never left him if he had t cheated multiple times, I would have probably even put up with the abuse, stupid I know but I adored him) he got into as many relationships as he could.
He was probably looking for something better, but didn't realize it was next to him the entire time. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

1. It wasn't a poly relationship, it was cheating. It can't be a poly relationship clueless all parties are consenting.
2. Monogamous marriages have a 51% rate of divorce. And probably another 30% who don't divorce or separate are miserable and cheating.
Those plumbers seem to indicate that poly relationships aren't the dramatic ones.
It's funny to think about the niche dramas that went on before TikTok and commentators like Callum, like the height of LJ and Tumblr fandoms and fiction writing drama. I don't know why that in particular popped into my head. I just imagined what Callum would have thought of some of the small scandals and mean girl dramas started among "Big Name Fans" back in the day. Some of the biggest bullies from the fanfic community have gone on to be successful, well-known authors, most likely because channels like this weren't really a thing back then, and their bad behavior was only known in the fandom. It's probably on my mind because one of those BNFs is coming out with a new book soon.

Whoa!! Drama I was actually around without even knowing it! I was at PAX all 4 days, I go every year, these are familiar faces as my boyfriend and I play lots of RPGs while at PAX, I saw all these people in person and that's wild
The drama increases because someone was trying to help Gabe see why he was wrong and such and the person got attacked for associating with him.
