Fly Fish Food - Sport
As a total novice, I found this very helpful. Attached my fly line to a tapered leader with what seems to be a very respectable knot. Thanks
Sir, this "finger rolling" catch is a game changer! Thanks a bunch for this tip!
Thank you so much. This helped more than you’ll ever know!! Just getting into fly fishing (completely self taught) and last time I had to do this knot it took me an hour and a half!!
Best tutorial video for tying a leader to fly line nail knot I’ve found!!
Curtis, that’s a WAY BETTER method than what Uncle Cheech showed me. You win!!!
Clearest instruction I've seen on how to use this tool!
That's very useful and convenient tool for every fisherman. Thanks for your detailed presentation.
Curtis, you’re a genius! This was super helpful !
🙏🤜🤛
Simple and easy to follow, tieda perfect nail knot first time. Thank you
Curtis initially it sounded like you said “…this is a tight ass nail knot tool”. Too funny! Great tool had a number of them over the years.
I cut off a few inches of worn out fly line and used the Tie-Fast tool to connect a new leader. The best tip is to use a hemostat or mitten pliers to do the “snap jerk.” After “massaging” the knot it was perfect. A little UV resin and I was good to go fishing for peacock bass in the Everglades with my 3WT fly rod and 3/4 reel.
Great camera work and instruction!
Thank You! I bought both tools and I just forget from one year after the other which way to wrap it and feed it thru the rabbit hole.
Good job. Helped me figure it out.
First time tying this knot, worked great, thank you
love my tiefast tool, sure beats using a toothpick!
Nailed it
루어낚시에도 쓰임니다
Love mine!
Thank You !!!
Can you use this knot for something like mono to braid if it’s very light line? I notice it’s always used with fly line.
I'd appreciate seeing this tool used to tie a needle nail knot.
Thanks, I had one of those tools for 30 years and never knew how to use it. I'm 77yrs old and my fingers are to stiff to do a nail know
What does it mean if you use the tool and the lines slip out despite trying to tighten as much as possible- braid to mono
Thumb is in the way I can't tell if you're putting the Leadrr underneath that thumb pad and holding it with your thumb or over
That's a nice tool. Always recommended it. Personally, I use those needles to blow basketballs.
I have to change my fishing 🎣 line and some of my fishing reel .Old one's
Can you use this to connect mono leader to braid doing a nail knot with both lines, similiar to a FG knot with the same strength as a FG knot? I have used it that way to do connect braid to braid with good results.
Maybe? But a uni to uni or an Alberto knot or anything like that just seems way quicker and easier while being a proven knot.
@@gooddoggo2258 this tool is capable of doing much more go to the official video on CZcams sorry i cant send link from here TIE FAST KNOT TYING TOOL,it's simply awesome, you can do the double uni with it you can splice braid to mono, flurocarbo to mono or braid etc etc snell hooks tie a fly on to leaders spinners and lures,it's awesome,
@@delwigzieful Knot tools aren’t that useful except for tying nail knots imo.
If I pull hard enough it comes off and strips the plastic of the flies line core
Im super super new to fly fishing. How many times can you cut fly line? Will it sink if you cut it? What does leader size 5x 9' 4.5 lb test mean? I notice people use loop to loop and i was using a method where i used a loop leader and a small knot on my fly line. I just looped it around the little knot. I kept losing my leader. 😕
You tend not to want to cut fly line too many times. It’s got a forward taper than you don’t want to mess up by cutting it back too many times. Sometimes fly line can sink if it is cut, but a drop of superglue right at the exposed tip should completely remedy that. I saw you mentioned you tied a loop at the end of your fly line. That’s not something you really want to do because it’s prone to slip and messes up the physics of casting by having a bunch of weight right at the tip of your fly line. One thing you can do for loop to loop if your line doesn’t have a welded loop is nail knot (what you just saw in this video) a short section of mono to the end of your flyline and tie a loop knot (I like the perfection loop) at the end of the mono to have a non heavy non prone to slip loop for a loop to loop connection. If you have any other questions just ask and I’ll be happy to help.
Don‘t you use glue to let ist better slip through the rings? ✌️
This is ABSOLUTELY the most aggravating tool I've ever had!!!! The problem I am having is the design. On the top of the tool, there are two little flat places that are OPEN on one side. All it does is allow the monofilament to come out of the side. If this was CLOSED and didn't have that opening, I can see how it might work better. I've been trying to get this for over an hour and it won't work like that. AGGRAVATING!!!!
I found the same so just put a piece of heat shrink over it
I actually find it quite the opposite. For so many years tying this not with an actual nail (or what I eventually settled on to keep in my fly box, a piece of hard plastic tubing), was aggrevating...could never quite master it. While not perfect, this tool made it leaps and bounds easier and quicker. I personally wouldn't use hemostats on the fly line though like this video shows, I don't think there's a need and it can damage the line...it's all about getting the timing down, with a quick easy motion using your finger and thumb.
Who is running there loop to loop connections through there guides? Casting with just the leader?
Will this make your floating line sink eventually?
Shouldn't be an issue. Mono floats too and the only time you should see this submerge is if you are using a heavy streamer on a short leader or in water that is very turbulent. The same waves that would swamp a big dry will swamp this, but it would swamp any connection to your fly line.
I NOW OWN SEVERAL OF THESE TOOLS AND ARE INDESPENSIBLE FOR MAKING A FLY LEADER CONNECTION TO THE FLY LINE......
I have been to several websites describing how to use this tool. I have tried to experiment using monofilament line and the knot slips right through regardless on how tight I make the knot. My assumption is that you can not use this tool to tie a monofilament onto a monofilament. Am I correct in this assumption or am I missing something?
My braid to fluorocarbon leader slipped also?
Oh no you can’t use this for any other line knot than braid (backing) to fly line and mono to fly like. Blood knots or uni to uni knots will work very well for your other line to line knots.
Yes you can splice any 2 lines together with this tool been doing for 10 years i use mine to build all my own leaders go to the official video on CZcams sorry i cant send link from here TIE FAST KNOT TYING TOOL it's capable of doing much more than a nail KNOT
Guy you talk too much about nothing in this video. Just get to the main points, I know when people do videos they like to hear themselves talk because they think of themselves as celebrities but no body else does. It was a good video but cut the crap.
For someone who is complaining about talking too much this is way too long of a comment… I suggest you try again below. I didn’t even read past the first sentence.
Really showing this gimmick garbage?
First comment
But really think this is useless junk why you need it if you already know how to tie it...
It actualy works really well and I will be doing a tutorial for my channel also :)
There are always wining poor losers like you. Go back to whatever cave you have crawled out of. There surely are many who appreciate this informative video made by Fly Fish Food.
I just want to see someone tie a good nail knot without a tool...
@@FlyFishFood I have had one of these since the end of the 1970s this one has been around for a very long time. They work well with a little practice.
