Nice tool, but the Tie-Fast Nail Knot tool (also on your website for less money) allows you to not only use it for leader-to-fly line knots, but also to tie your fly onto your tippet with a very strong nail knot. It has a place to hold the fly to make it easy. As I get older, it is too difficult to see that little gap in the line when trying to tie a clinch knot, or improved clinch knot. Not necessary with the Tie-Fast tool, which makes tying a fly onto my tippet much easier to see, and very quick. It also allows me to tie a nail knot loop in my tippet for attaching it to a fly hook when adding a second fly.

I bought this tool and want to love it but I can't get the fly line in the opening of the tool. I noticed the person in this video fumbled with getting the flyline in. I am using a 6 weight line and having issues. Bigger flylines in the 7 or 8 weight would be nearly impossible to use with this tool. I am using 20 lb amnesia nail knot to flyline and tying a perfection loop at the end for loop to loop connection. Like I mentioned I want to love this tool, but having issues with it.

I took a dremel and took up the track both in width and depth so now it works with tapered paws 0,65mm to 0,20

I had the same problem with a 5wt line and 3x leader. My solution was to do it the other way around. Fly line thru the sping and then wrapping the leader.

Do you ever put a drop of super glue on the knot?

Seems a little big to carry out in the field, My Cinch Tie fits in my shirt pocket and won’t fall out.
