  • Is your vent selector broke on your ford focus? Is your heat or cold ac stuck coming out of one vent? This is a manual bypass to get your warm or cold air to come out where you need it to.
    I will put a video up later on how to replace the cable but for now I needed my defroster working.

    Thanks for the help. You really don’t need to take the dash panel under the steering wheel off. The piece is easily manipulated by laying on your back on the floorboard and reach up underneath the dash.

    Thank you. Good video. Another video I watched showed how there is a blend door, with a degrading rubber seal on it that sticks and causes the whole problem. A work around seems to be NOT to put the selector knob at either extreme setting so the degraded sticky rubber seal cannot stick to the box it is attached to.

    Ohhh man those Chicago winters, I miss livin in the Chi but not the winter. I feel ya there man. Cedar Rapids IA. may be a lil colder but you got that lake there. Anyhow this same thing happened to my 2007 Ford Focus SE, I manually adjusted it cuz drivin blind in the rain.... not a good thing. Once you get used to adjusting it you can actually just reach in there it's a lil tight but it can be done for a quick vent change. I threw ya an up vote cuz the other videos I watched didn't show opening the dash panel around the stereo and controls area so thanks for that. This is an easy Junkyard fix. Don't waste hundreds on a repair shop. Do note that if you replace the whole unit the cables going from the part displayed in the video and the actual control nobs are clipped to the wall inside so you need work it a bit to release them. Good Luck All and Thank You Robert for the vid.

    Thank you so much. I figured out that you can take the AC Selector knob off the front panel and then attach it to shaft on the mechanism underneath the dash (see the top gray shaft on the white mechanism at 4:08), then you can put everything back together and reach under and turn it whenever you Really Need to change the direction of air flow.... until you get the replacement cable

    I had to replace the white piece blend door actuator because the 2 pieces that aloud the blend door actuator and the temp control were broken. But watching this I now know that one of the cables in the blend actuator must be broken too. I had already replaced the temp control one last year. If anyone has to buy the white piece for 07 focus the part # ys4z18549aa and none of my parts stores had it. I ended up get it from my local Ford dealer for $50 and was in the next day. It wasn't much difference than the online stores with shipping (approx $45) and I didn't have to wait for it to come it. So it was worth it to get it next day.

    Thanks for posting this. Actually, it's really not necessary to take any of the panels off if you only need to change the direction. I literally just reached in and turned the apparatus to that kinda "1/4 from the bottom" position. I don't have any socket wrenches so this was pretty clutch for me.
    I had paid 40 dollars this past summer to get the vent to blow on my face, and was going to pay it again to get it on the floor/window combo until I saw this video. So thanks again.

  • @kevinlynn1979
    @kevinlynn1979 Před rokem +1

    I can add a hack to this fix. If you remove the knob from the front panel, you can attach that knob to that grey plastic 'Male' peg that's right by the cable housing. Pop it on and you can adjust the vents from there. It's not "fixed", but it's easier than messing with that piece of black plastic. I think I need to replace the piece of black plastic, because I already replaced the cable, which immediately broke. Right now, my black plastic part will no longer move in both directions. For everyone: This is something you can fix. Replacing that cable isn't really hard, and the cable only costs $20. With that said, does anyone know how to keep going, and replace that piece of black plastic? Or what it's called??!!??

    the real problem is the vent endpoint lock and i dont know how to solve that problem
