  • Is your air vent stuck on face, defrost, feet? This short video shows you what the likely culprit is, where to get the part, how to replace it, all for about $30 and 10 minutes of your day.
    **NOTE** This is for the Vent Mode Actuator. If your problem is the Hot/Cold mixing, that is the Blend Door Actuator which is on the passenger side behind the dash, behind the airbag. That part number is Dorman 604-242. This video is about not being able to select Defrost/Defrost & Feet/Face/Face & Feet/Feet. Yours may be stuck in one of these 5 modes and won't change.
    Vent Mode Select Actuator: AutoZone part number: Dorman 601-241

    Just fixed my 2008 Mariner purchased used at 92,000 miles. 120,000 miles now and I couldn't find the top screw... and realized this had been replaced before and someone never put in the top screw back in. Also if the cover just below the steering wheel is removed it makes this job a lot simpler. The position of the white post is not correct and I just moved the white wheel (near the center console) until it goes in easily, and 10 minutes of total time start to finish saved a small fortune.
    Good video, thanks for the help.

      Was there just 1 door vent?

    • @donc400
      @donc400 Před 2 měsíci

      If I remember correctly...one on each side of the console drivers side for the defrost ect. And passenger side was temperature ... its been working ok and I really don't remember all the details.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I did however break that little red clip trying to detach the electrical plug. It still works, but is that a problem?

    Hardest part on my mom’s 2009 was the kick plate / panel under steering wheel, getting it yanked off.

    Crazy! Mine is not there, nor under passenger airbag. 2005 Ford Escape XLT V6. My vehicle manual does not show any details either. It only mentions it as a potential problem.

    I had issues with sticking in one position, reached up and messed with linkage arm, must have dislodged it, works but noticed last summer and again this spring switching from floor heat to vent AC it gets a grinding noise sounds like behind speedometer up in dash....do you all think it is vent door actuator going bad.....also is there only one other actuator that controls hot or cold and is it on passenger side next to glovebox

      Did this work for your '15 escape? My mom's escape is only blowing from the defrosters and floor. Everywhere I've looked calls for a +-$700 part "FV6Z-19B555-E" I would like to fix it for her cheaper than that!!!

    • @stinman46
      @stinman46 Před 3 lety

      @@freddiewhitener7989 damn! They are trying to sell you the whole control module and 500 in labor. I got 2014 with blend door about to go, it moves still but it clicks while moving to all the different vent places. Soon it will lock up! Isn’t it a shame/scam to use such a cheap piece of shit part that wears out every 2 yrs at most. The original Ford part will last about 5 yrs. 2014 Escape is what I have, your 2015 is exact same. Where was it? Hope you see this
