Quick diagnosis & fix of my Ford Ranger 1997. Vacuum tube snapped that led from my Vacuum Reservoir. ZERO cost to fix. Thank god I saw youtube first before I started to rip the whole car apart! - Krátké a kreslené filmy
5years and this video still helping people 👍
So true…glad it helped!!
is the reservoir on the passenger side?
@@Perceniyeah it’s in the passenger side. I have a 99 and for me it’s in the passenger fender well. I was able to fix mine just accessing between the tire and the fender
Make that 6 years and still helping. Thank you 🙏
If u have a ranger don’t get rid of it!! Miss mine all the time!!
Thank you so very much for this video. I found this was my issue also, on my 2004 Ford Ranger. Simple fix once you locate line and get the old line pulled out of the connecting piece. So happy you posted this and happy to have my AC blowing out the dash vents again. Thank you.
Definite game changer and free! Glad it helped!
thank you so much got it fixed 10 minutes after watching this, spent hours replacing all the evap canister hoses to get nothing so you made my day!! 95 ranger by the way, RANGER GANG!!
Sometimes it's the simplest of solutions! Congrats on "free" fix!
I have the same issue and thanks to you i found i vaccum leak too, so tomorrow morning i'll fix it.... Thanks
My issue wasn't the exact same but this helped me to understand where the vacuum reservoir was. I then followed my line towards all the other terminals and found one of the plastic lines split inside of the wheel well. Fixed it in 10 minutes with spare vacuum hose I purchased to fix the other line when it broke.
Thank you for sharing this fix. I just did it for my teen daughters truck and it worked like a charm. Appreciate it!
Cheap lifesaver in the heat! Glad it worked.
Worked for my repair on a 2005 Explorer! Much thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Low budget production but it works!lol
Hey i live in az too and had the same problem! You helped me fix it in no time on the side of the road!!! Thank you so much!!!!
Im in az too lmao.. can’t really go no where without ac.
Thank you for the video. Short and to the point. On my 98 Ranger 4x4 all of the rubber connectors have completed disintegrated. Mostly onroad driving with some occasional offroading. After 20 years those vacume lines also get very brittle.
Yeah i’m in arizona so they go a lot quicker. Glad it helped
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!!!!! I live in Florida and finding your video was a miracle THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Thanks Jose! Made that video a while ago. Unfortunately sold that awesome ranger....I miss it.
Thanks for this video! 2001 Ford Ranger with the exact same issue and your fix fixed it for me! Thanks again.
🥶👍🏻
I'm glad I watched your video. Because I
thought I had to get into the duct doors somehow to manually switch or unjam something. Fixed in 10minutes. Thanks.
10 minute auto job that takes...10 minutes (instead of hours)!lol Glad it worked out
I looked in the engine bay several times but I must have missed this. Thanks man 😎
Wish i was more of a mechanic…maybe community can help on this one. As you face engine bay from front this area was on left side. Didnt do a great job w illustrating that in this video
Thank you! Fixed my problem within minutes!
Cheap and easy!
Good video right on the money. Solved the issue of my '95 Ford Explorer 4x4 XLT. One of the vacuum hose in the vac reservoir was out, just inserted it back and yes back to normal operation. Thanks a lot. Daghang Salamat. :)
Glad it helped and glad it was CHEAP!!
Thanks man fixed my ranger right up.
Awesome...traded mine in for a new truck...still miss the ranger! buyer's remorse
You are the greatest person alive. Thanks
Haha glad it worked🥶
Thanks for the upload
Good video I have a 04 and does the same
*Helpful Hints By Jonny On The Spot!*
My 99 Mazda B3000 104k mi. ,had very little air flow on AC only. I removed blower motor & with an air chuck wand, blew all the debris out & through my evap. core. Though I could not physically blow through the entire surface area face of the evap core, my air flow increased 2 fold. #2 fan speed now pushes as much air as #4 fan speed did prior. Don't use those spray can evap. Core foamy cleaners! They contain sodium based chemicals that slowly dissolve the aluminum fins & solder!
I'll add another "me too" to so many here. The line that was broken off at the vacuum ball is only a foot long and the other end goes to what looks a sending unit below the exhaust manifold. I was able to fix it in minutes. Thanks!
Sweet! Glad it helped.
I can't locate this in my explorer but mine is a 97 with cold air only also. It's had me puzzled and shivering now for several winters with fears of a heater core failure (too expensive to fix!) but I don't believe it is that issue.
Genius We All Thank You Here In Texas!!!😎💥
Thank god it worked!lol
My friend thank you very much!!! Exactly same issue on a 2008 xl ! Thank you god bless)
Awesome glad it worked!
Solution works. easy fix. Thanks
Awesome...glad it worked!
I have a 98 ford ranger and this happened to me! I’m going to try this tomorrow and see it I can get it going!
Hope it works...it's great when it's basically a free fix!
Holy shit that is the exact same problem my 1997 ford ranger has and it’s a standard and that is why I tapped on this video. Thank you so much man
Glad it worked...especially this time of year!!!
how2q ya no kidding
Exact fix for my Ford Ranger 2010! Thx!
Sweet!
Thank you for making this video. I had the same problem on my 1998 ZX2 due to having a vacuum operated vent system. I wouldn't have thought to look for vacuum lines in the engine. I was looking for a problem inside the dash. Found out I had 2 lines deteriorating. Fortunately I had some vacuum line in my garage that worked. Replaced them, now my AC is blowing through the vents. Don't know what I would have done without you.
Glad it helped…first you say “oh sh%t”…the AC ($$$$)….then your realize its an easy fix.
Was it under hood or was it in dash for you?
Under hood…left side as you face truck
@@how2q hm where at or which one?
Middle of left side lower right…tough to explain via “text”
:)...Thanks so much...I had my 99 Exploder at my local mechanic's ( jabronis) ...They did 2K worth of work...But it was before the weather broke when I went for my AC, it was just coming out the top.....I followed your advice and low and behold, the same vacuum line is broken in half...I just called them up...They're trying to bullshit me about some Actuator doors... Good, real mechanics, are like hen's teeth...
Man that's frustrating! Especially since this is such an easy fix! Glad it worked
@@how2q You're the man!
Thanks that was the my problem but thanks for your video 👍 I fixed it.
Awesome glad it helped
Thank you so much some black tape and a coupler. Im back in A/C.
Sweet (and cheap)🥶
Thanks again.
I just fixed 2001 Edge.
SWEET!!
First year for the Edge was 2007
@@scooter8187 mine is 2004
Bro thank you 🙏 so much
STAY COOL🥶
Gracias amigo I fixed tanks
Awesome greata!
My 97 ranger did the same thing, it turned out to be the vacuum ball its self, wouldn't hold vacuum, a trip to pull apart and boom, back in business,
Dude! You’re up so close I can’t tell what area under the hood you’re looking at!!
Haha sorry…facing hood left side
Cool Video! Thanks! I have the same issue with my 2001 Explorer. Can u please tell me which components (i.e. Air Filter Box, etc.) to take out in order to do what YOU did?
Thanks again for ur help!
Art
Kiko-sorrry for delayed reply. I actually didn't have to remove anything on this 97 Ford Ranger. May be different on your 2001 explorer. Good luck!
Perfect….thanks
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the video it worked and fixed my a/c
Cheyenne, Thanks for watching! I’m used to 10 minute jobs that take four hours. This was a 10 minute job that just took 10 minutes! LOL better lucky than good.
Summer Cummings
Markn Brown Already here! Hope it helped.
HOLY SHIT THANK YOU!!
Haha 🥶 ur welcome
Nice 👍🏼
🥶
Have you done any other work on the explorer? I live in phx as well and I'm rebuilding a 98 and have some questions
It was a 96 ranger. Very little work…great truck. Sold it about three years ago. Good luck w ur explorer
Where does the end of the line go to? I have the same problem, but I can’t find out where it leads to. The end that would be towards the firewall of the truck.
Holy crap this is exactly what I'm dealing with, my truck is an 09 but I'm guessing they haven't changed anything in years. I'm going to hunt for this leak.
Good luck…cheap quick truck fixes rarely happen!!
@@how2q yeah the issue is tracking it. I just went through that vacuum ball thing, but all is good there, I also checked the actuator and all is good there. I'm gonna google a diagram for this. Honestly, vacuum leaks have always been a pain for me.
very same thing happened, albeit further down the hose. thanks!!
Free fixes are the best...
Oh man how I remember the good old days of vertical video way back in 2017.
My kids clued me in shortly after this video!lol
@@how2q haha! I thought your video needed more replies. I'm a ranger owner too. What you think of new ranger raptor? You getting 1?
If only I had the money! It looks awesome!! I like my simple '97...still runnin
hey were r u in phx, im here too got a 1999 f250 same issues wan to fix it? thx dan
Ha..."the rest of the story"...my wife was never able to drive a stick so I sold it to a neighbor. he has since put about 9k into it and looks brand new. Regret it but happy it went to a good home. Good luck with your f250.
Where does the other line of the reservoir go to? That’s the line I’m having issues with.
Where do the vacuum lines hook up to the fire wall that come from the globe mine are disconnected on both ends
Had to pull tire and fender well to see a small rubber block on firewall. Has two holes in it.
I have a 97 Ranger. Mine seems to swap between front vents to defrost as I'm driving. I'll track through the vacuum tubes and see if that's my problem too.
Haven't heard of that issue. Must be a difference in pressure causing it possibly. Let me know what you find out
I have the same problem. Mine doesn't do it all the time but dose it when i need it the most. Please let me know what you find
I have the same problem but my hose keeps breaking in the middle as it's so brittle. Does anyone know where i can get the same hard plastic hose as i have found a great way of joining it. I just need to replace a section.
Same thing for my 05 ranger just broke higher up and from other side of the line. Anyone know how far back it goes I’ll have to look later
I have a Ford Escape do you think it’ll be the same?
I know it is exactly the same in ford explorer. Sorry do not in escape. As you face car Check left side under hood
My 1997 Chevy Suburban is blowing only out of Defrost! Any suggestions?
I'm a ford guy!lol Liz sorry I am just a diy guy not a true mechanic. Wish I could help
i have the same issue, but with the other hose on that ball. do you know where it goes? i cant find it
Fry, hope someone that reads your issue can help. I sold this 97 about a year ago or I would go out and track it down! Good luck!
@@how2q Ehh we'll see what the forums have to say about the matter in a day or two. Thanks anyways!
Anyone know the nomenclature (name) of that hose? I fixed mine with an awesome White Trash repair but a new hose would be best.
Great question…thingymajig is what i call it
Both of my lines snapped in the middle. Anyone know where I can buy those lines at?
they are on amazon or ebay
does anyone know where the other vacuum line on the ball goes?
anyone end up figuring this out?
i have checked all the vacuum lines and they seem to be ok, even the ones that go on the cross rail to the other side of the engine, no broken lines. what would be the next possible failure point in this system?
Shawn...I am honestly not sure. I am not a mechanic but someone on here may be able to help you out. Good luck...wish I could help!
Mine was the line to the auto hubs. Air came out of defrost . Plugged the lines and put in manual hubs. Problem solved.
Sweet!
@@davidanson6296 plug what line?
@@tyronekitchens4245 there is a T that comes out of your VAacuum canister. One is red and one tube is black.where the red and black join put two plugs from any auto store. You must have manual locks on wheels as there is no automatic. Not sure how to attach photo. Got an email I will send photo
If possible can you do another video lol like showing where the other line goes i kinda have the same problem hahaha but with the other side of the reservoir
LOL...wish I still had this truck. I miss it everyday
Anybody know where in the Detroit, Michigan area a mechanic who can do this job?
Same problem and same fix on my 1999 ford ranger
Sweet!!! Glad it worked!
Hello mine got cut on the other end but I don’t know were it goes help
Antonio..put my ranger to pasture over 5 years ago. Wish i could help!
There's quite a few terminals for the lines so its not an easy thing to answer. Some go all the way inside your vehicle behind the glove compartment to plug into the plunger that opens the inside vents. You need to find the other half of the cut line and patch it together. It will be located within reach of the cut line so look in the immediate areas for another dangling plastic line.
I need to replace my lines because every time I change my spark plugs i brake them .they are to old
I live in the desert...know what you mean!
I connected my line and its still not blowing. What else can I do?
I had to put a blower motor in minds easy fix.
So there’s no way to just dig into the dash and manually turn an actuator? It’s strictly vacuum??
Not that i know of…this method just seems easier
You are so close up, I can't tell where you are.
Sorry when facing front of truck…left hand side
My defrost constantly blows hot air no matter if off or on.
My hose broke in the middle I cant tell where it comes from...
It starts towards the coolant reservoir and runs on the side of the vehicle near the accumulator drier, under the blower motor and into the cab where it connects to plunger terminals that open the vents. You'll want to look around for another dangling line somewhere around the a/c accumulator drier or inside of the passenger front wheel well.
I'm aware this comment is 5 years late. But would you happen to have a part number for a replacement hose?
Just get a set of vacuum hoses from 1/8" up and pick the one that grabs the plastic line tightly enough to seal. I don't think they make replacement lines for this and if they do it will cost a small fortune for what it is. It's also not for the faint of heart to replace the line given the number of Ts, Ls, and transitions. Recommend you just patch the sections that break with rubber vacuum line.
Your video doesn't show where to look under the hood! I'm a rookie in AZ with no AC at the moment, only defrost.
THATS NOT A FIX THATS A PATCH/YOU DIDNT REPLACE THE BRITTLE LINE - IT WILL BREAK AGAIN
Great point. Although still working 3 years later…living in phoenix…plastic eventually disintegrates. I will eventually have to replace
Good luck finding a replacement line for a 30 year old part.
No shit Sherlock !
When making a video, please start with a wide shot so we know where you are working on the vehicle
Totally agree with you… It was a last minute decision to just film it, and not much thought was put into it.
@@how2qdo you know where to buy the tee fitting
@kevinrosales1460 sorry kevin i do not…miss that truck sold i about 7 years ago
@@kevinrosales1460 Go to a junk yard and pull it off an old vehicle. Otherwise get a vacuum line T for a 1/8" hose and get some vacuum line and patch it using that. You can generally fit the plastic line inside of the 1/8" vacuum line. If it doesn't seal well enough just add a little super glue on the outside.
have the same problem but, I AM LMAO " so I just slipped into that part right there... I just pushed it in there, got it in pretty Deep in there then I just pulled it OUT, no worries.... THATS WHAT SHE SAID!!!!
haha...nice!
I replayed how you pushed it in there pretty deep about 5 times
.aa
Nice effort, I guess, but not once did he show exactly in the engine compartment where he was working. And tilt your damn phone sideways when filming so that we can fill up the entire screen and see what you're doing. I still have no idea where he was working on this stuff. Shake my head x100
I have yet to do the perfect video. I did realize after I "published" it that I did not show the "big picture" of where this was located. This video was an afterthought. I now use everything BUT an iphone...two gopro's for my videos. Thanks for watching and the comment. BTW, facing the hood, it's on the right side of the engine compartment. Taking it down would lose my place in the search line and hence all my views. Thanks for watching.
This is such a helpful video but for fucks sake just start the video without your head in the engine bay. It would’ve been the perfect video if you’d just have done that.
Haha literally just grabbed the phone and pressed record. No editing…my bad. Hope it helped
