  • Here’s a key culprit in your 1997-2004 Ford F-150 switching from vent to defrost under moderate to heavy throttle, remember it is all vacuum controlled! The vacuum reservoir and the vacuum check valve and associated lines are where to begin your search.

    Funny how the background of the video sounds like a vacuum leak.

    My truck started doing this today great information thanks for sharing! These older Fords are very reliable but have some weird things that happen with them. 🤦🏽‍♂️

    So my buddies truck, 03 f150 lariat. On max ac, when get around 15000 it switches to defrost. If push the vents button, it stays on the vents and no longer switches to defrost. I seen other vids where they said the orings on the control panel itself fail and cause the same problem. But neither this or those vids get into very much detail about if all settings or certain settings contributes to which part that failed

      Same thing as what happens in this video depending on what year the truck is.

    Would you be able to provide the part number for that part? My 99 F150 is doing exactly the same thing but I can't find that part anywhere. Awesome video by the way. I hope I can get mine fixed. I live in Texas and it is hot as hell this year.

    Can this be why my a/c blows hot sometimes too and it switches to defrost?

      u got 2 issues, leak @ vacuum reservoir/line behind batt. box and also if it blows hot u got broken blend door or bad actuator, there's utube videos on how to fix without removing dash, make sure to test prior to button up everything, plastic epoxy + HVAC tape + oscillating tool will help

    • @DezarovsClassics

      Definitely why it’s coming from defrost

  • @DaltonShady

    Did that cause your engine to run rough when the line was damaged

    • @DezarovsClassics
      @DezarovsClassics  Před měsícem +1

      No because it was in the other side of the check valve

    Alright boys, i had this same issue, and if you can't find it under the hood, then the line going into the firewall, behind the glovebox has rubbed and is the cause.
    Remove the glove box and right where fender is you'll see the line has rubbed
