      Last I heard our local Ford dealership was $120.00 an hour and I've done this to a pickup of mine so I didn't figure it would be too hard just quite tight for space, so I avoid them like the plague!!!

    $20 part and 5 minutes... fixed an issue I’ve had for years. Thanks!
    I would like to mention, as I saw in another video on this... your view and access is a little more difficult getting under the glovebox. If you remove it (3 screws and under a minute), it’s a straight shot at the resistor without any weird angles.

Thank you so much for posting this. Cheers Mate!

    Worked like a charm--and if I can do it anyone can. The hardest part was fitting my rachet in the space to loosen the screws. The rest was cake. Now all four fan speeds work and life is good. Thanks for the video!

    A few tips….
    You never said how to open the glove compartment to reveal the blower resistor…so I had to go to another site.

    I REALLY appreciate this video and instructions as I replaced the blower resistor on my 2012 Ford Escape XLT yesterday. Following it to the letter helped considerably. It took my a bit over 15 minutes in 45 degree weather, and I am a BIG person(my "projects" usually last an hour or so because of space limitations)! The original resistor was "Made in Mexico", and the new one is "Made in China", so we will see how long it holds up. The old one had a blister on the corner just like you guys said. EXCELLENT video. Follow up: issue was the connection at the blower fan

  • @NA-it6ds
    @NA-it6ds Před 2 lety

    HI, thank you for the great video. i had the similar issue ( fan was not working at 1,2 and 3) setting) and i was thinking about ordering it but when i checked my Resistor using voltmeter it seemed to be working fine. so i just used the lens cleaning liquid ( for no particular reason, it was just there on the shelf) and clean the surface with paper towel, plug it back again and it started working again. i am not sure how long it is going to last but before you order it try doing that if your resistor looks fine and has no corrosion or damage.
    also don't change your part because there is a huge blister on the chip, that huge blister is the heat sink and it is suppose to be there.
    hope it helps.

    Thanks. I was able to fix mine for 30 dollars. There is a tab on the front of the connector near the wires that needs to be pressed back while simultaneously pulling up on the connector. I made the mistake of installing it without putting it back in the slot it came out of while on the way home. When I got back to put it back in it was hot to the touch and melting a bit. I'm assuming that it needs to be in the slot it came out of to keep airflow on it because it is a resistor. I Put it back in and it still works fine.

    First: Thanks for your very informative video.
    Two months ago a warning light came on saying my tire pressure was low. Although I adjusted the tire pressures the light still did not go off. I took it to the mechanic and he said that all 4 tires must have the same pressure. Anyway, he rotated the tires and the warning sign came off. During the past week a warning light for the gas comes on and the indicator needle points to E, although the gas tank is full. And at times it would suddenly start functioning normally again! Could this be a problem with the Resistor Card?

      +Ed VanSluytman The most common cause of this is the resistor card in the tank yes.

    I have the same issue on my 2008 Mazda Tribute, is it the same fix/same part or does the mazda have a different resistor? Thanks so much for the video!!

    Same issue on 08 Escape XLT. Changed card with exact Ford one and now blower does not work at all. Any suggestions? Great video though, very easy to follow instructions!

      +Pete Cleary What is the part number card you are now using? What was the exact concern before?

      +FordTechMakuloco. The blower would only work on 4. when I started the car this morning, it all worked fine with the new card.???? might there be a problem with the blower motor itself?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  Před 8 lety

      If there was a problem with the blower itself it will not work in any speed yes but the reason you changed the card was speed 4 only worked so that rules out the blower in that case.

      +FordTechMakuloco: same issue here, new card did not work and blower still only blows on max. Do you think it's likely a power issue, or perhaps the new card could have been defective?

    So, I replaced this on my 2012 Escape, approx 24 months ago. Bought a new one from Ford, installed it myself. And guest what, the new has failed, again. So - do these burn out, again and again? I have 165km on my escape now... anyone else experiencing this, more than once?

    So when you “figured out” it was your resistor was the air coming out on speeds 3 and 4 warm or hot air even if you had the ac on? Because that’s my dilemma it used to not work on speeds 1,2 and just 3,4 now it works only on speeds 4
