3:20 I just found that out myself, after having my Focus ST for 2.5 years! Although it's not just "wipe once", it actually puts the rear wiper into intermittent, so if you're in Reverse for long enough, it will wipe again. Of course this is regardless of the front wiper setting (intermittent, low, or high), as long as it's on.

Test mode is available on the 2008 - 2011 Ford Focus as well but it's a little more difficult than the 3rd gen focus , you have to turn the key in the ignition to accessory while holding the info button and the gauges sweep and you can go through all of the vehicle test modes and it has a digital rpm readout plus you can also see the fuel to air ratio etc just be careful with the stuff you toggle through it can mess up your 2nd gen focus , pretty much what test mode is , it's a Canbus readout and programming mode for the car and an easy way to diagnose issues , I worked at a Ford Dealership and currently own a 2011 Ford Focus SeS which doesn't have the transmission issues the 3rd generation does , the only major issues with the 2008 - 2011 Ford focus is the valve cover gaskets are junk and they leak oil down into the ignition coils and causes the car to run rough , the rocker panels rust and rott off the car , the flex pipes break easily , the front suspension wears out faster than most compact vehicles , other than that they are great cars , I have owned my 2011 Ford Focus SeS since new with 32 miles on the odometer and I haven't had any major issues at all with it , I also average combined mpg of 35 mpg , I drive the car 30 miles to work and home and I live in Upstate NY where they use a ton of salt on the road in the winter season and my Foci still looks new and has everything but the original valve cover gasket , the front suspension and the Alternator , it has 210.000 miles and still runs like new , and yes it still has the original motor and transmission and the original Rocker panels etc . I believe my car will last another 250.000 miles with no problem just have to do regular maintenance and keep the car clean and it'll last , as an after note a lot of people don't know that the 2.0l Duratec 4 cylinder engine and transmission in the 2006 - 2011 Ford Focus was NOT designed or Built by Ford it was actually Designed and Built by Mazda . Skip the 2012 - 2018 Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta they have more issues than mentioned in this video take it from an Ex Ford Service Technician ( Mechanic) .

The clutch packs wear out because people drive them like a regular automatic by creeping in traffic riding the brakes. Riding the brakes won’t let the clutch fully engage and will burn it out. Jacob Kachinski lol I have a 2014 and ya the Bluetooth/stereo system works great.... *_when it works._* But more often then not it has issues, like for example...
      • randomly disconnecting from my Bluetooth paired device and refusing to connect (/failing to play audio over the speakers if it _does_connect..), and the only way to fix it - and trust me, I’ve tried EVERYTHING - is by popping the hood and disconnecting the battery for 20 seconds or so. This got so bad and so frequent that I began keeping a log and found that over the course of several years it happened at _least_ once a month, sometimes every few weeks.
      • radio/accessories spontaneously turning on when the car is off and keys not in the ignition. Unfortunately by the time I realized this was even happening it had already done so much damage to the battery that it could no longer sustain enough of a charge to restart the car after being turned off, so it will need to be replaced but that’s been put off in light of current corona lockdown and the leaking sunroof (which is far worse than the radio but that’s a story for another time....)
Oh, and I _do_ know “how to set it up” btw, so ya maybe _don’t_ invalidate someone‘s experiences (or write them off as simply user-error/ignorance) just because they differ from your own? 🤔 idk, just a thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A good rule of thumb- _just because it’s not an issue for_ you _doesn’t mean it’s not an issue_ 🙃

These newer transmissions are not true automatics they are 6 speed manuals with an auto shifter mechanism on them, which sounds the same as an automatic one but its really not. So it gives them a weird feeling and way of working especially at low speeds. It is not entirely the transmission's fault. I have a 5-speed manual and the ECU gets stupid if the revs are a bit too low starting off. It is some type of response to prevent stalling, as far as I can tell.
I have really noticed that if I don't give it enough gas in 1st, it will pretty much take over the fuel to prevent bucking or stalling. Even if you get on it right away, there is nothing there. Have to either hit the clutch or let off both and leave it in gear.
It is dumb and could be probably fixed with better programming of the ECU and the transmission.

Everyone that's talking about the transmission...you need to go to where the cars batterys ground wires are attached to the frame of the car. And have a look-see. If you are a car person you will realize that the place where it is grounded to is painted. You should also know if wires are to be ground that the surface it bolts up to should have no paint on it. Ford painted it on the focus, fiesta and fusion in the assembly line because they pushed these cars out so fast plus it makes them money when you keep coming back in for a brand new transmission. So remove the ground wire bolt thats attached to the FRAME not the battery part, rough sand or use a bremil to remove the paint from the surface where the bolt will be replaced. Then put dielectric grease on the bolt, the metal surface you just sanded clear of paint front and back, and the top of the bolt (after you screwed it back in) tranny issue fixed! If it still does it...you may also have to do the other ground bolt areas (2) under your air box. After that use a obd scan tool and reset your codes and WALLA! Problem fixed. Your welcome 🤷🏿‍♂️

It's not normal at all. Manufacturers don't issue massive recalls and lose class action lawsuits over "normal" problems. I love my Focus, but my transmission is garbage. I've had input shaft seals replaced twice, clutch replaced twice, reprogrammed PCM/TCM (recall service), replacement PCM, replacement TCM, and the thing still hesitates like crazy on gear shifts sometimes, and my 8-month-old clutch has been slipping since month two. I've had all of Ford's recommended maintenance performed on my vehicle by my Ford dealer since I bought the car in October 2014. To this day it only has 64,500 kilometers on it.
Ford has issued over 20 service bulletins about the PowerShift DCT, and lost a class-action suit in Canada and America over it. That's hardly normal.
As much as I love Ford, and the Focus family, the 6-speed auto is absolute trash.

@@RocketDragons There are a few things you can do to help the DCT. Fix the ground (lots of videos available). Drive the car hard - it actually helps. Replace the DCT fluid with Motul DCT fluid (cheaper than Ford OEM fluid and a fairly simple DIY; no more difficult than changing oil). If that isn’t enough, get a tune from focus-power.
I bought a 2015 Focus SE two years ago on the cheap. I’ve owned some high end cars and still do. While the Ford isn’t perfect, for what it is it’s quite capable. In two years I’ve added almost 60K kilometres and have only done routine maintenance. Engine is smooth with good torque. Transmission is not buttery smooth from 1st to 2nd. That’s about it. I’ve done all the things I listed above, other than getting the tune. It’s next on my list but for now I’m not losing any sleep over a bit of slippage.

Damn I bet my 2010 focus can’t do a burn out like that with it’s old automatic transmission

I have the 17 Focus SEL and the clutch issue supposedly had been fixed. But you're still dealing with a sealed transmission. So that's important to keep in mind. Furthermore as with most CRTs you have to remember.
Your dealing with a manual transmission here. Which is being handled like an automatic. Well you definitely going to get better shifting. But can sometimes get away from if you're not careful.
Never noticed shaking on mine but maybe I just never was paying attention. I have to check out this Tom's Tune though. Manual sports mode I heard does run better but I just don't feel comfortable using it.
Already revs way higher than it should even in normal mode. So I guess it's a bit of a catch-22. Some of these things I didn't even know until recently like the active Grille shutters. You typically only get that on RS ST-Models I thought. :b

My dad has a 2015 focus se with a manual transmission. I didn't know about this car. Man, that generation is the smartest in NA focus ever.
