    The problem with damper/vent selector sticking is the doors themselves stick to the housing. Ford used a foam gasket glued to the doors. In time the glue saturates the foam, and gets to the door that is shut causing the problem that you are having (we owners of this vehicle)..There is a video segment on YT to resolve this problem.

    Very few know about ford and how you can hook the knob and see the levers move. I’m trying to fix mine. It’s so hot, thanks for sharing,

    the problem is the door...replacing the actuator cable will only work a few times until it snaps the cables again...was looking for a fix to the door but this isn't it

    question, i've been working on this on my car today and it wouldn't budge, i did the thing where you put the dial on the knob underneath the steering wheel and it would not budge. i would be thankful for any ideas as mine is stuck on defrost.

    • @woodsarmoury
      @woodsarmoury  Před 8 měsíci

      Its been awhile, but if I remember correct it really likes to jam up at each end of the travel. If you grab the plastic mechanism you might be able to un-jam it. Lots of wd40 to lube it up. Good luck.

      The mechanism under dash is the cause... if you wanna rip apart the whole console and dash to replace it, on an aging 15 year old beater car, then you have more free time than me.

    Excellent video
    I need to change my selector cable out as the deflector knob is free wheeling with no tension on it. I bought the car like this not knowing that it was broken
    Before I get to changing the cable out ,Is it easy for somebody with a medium size hand to reach in under the dash to manually change the deflector door position without dropping the panel that’s underneath the dash which is held in with four bolts ?? (i’ll add a second knob to it like you suggested in your video great trick)

    is there a fix to stop it getting stuck???? seem like the main problem is when it STICKS

    • @woodsarmoury
      @woodsarmoury  Před 7 měsíci

      you would have to rip out the dash and replace the main mechanism. Keeping in lubed helps, also I found it only sticks at the ends of travel, so try keep dial in middle. Sorry best I can do.

    You don’t even have to take that piece off before putting the switch on that knob if you’re just doing the bypass.

    Befor trying to move the actuator knob turn the heat on high and it will loosen the goo that ford used to seal the vent door. Always leave the selector in the middle position or it will harden in place. Turn heater to high and move to all positions to loosen every thin up. Not a fix but a solution.

  • @BeeTee177

    You have to cut out the big plastic surface behind the radio and ducktape the levers and edges. This is the only long lasting solution for the damn sticky levers. If needed, the cables should replace as well.
    Stupid construction 😎

      its not really the mechanism bro, its the vent doors that are sticking making the selector knob very hard to turn.. when people try to force this, they break the cable and selector but the issue still remains..the vent doors that open and close are sticking in place..
