    Normal sudoku rules apply. There are nine doubler cells in the grid, one in every row, column and box. Each digit from 1-9 appears in a doubler cell exactly once. A doubler cell's value counts as double its digit. Along a green line, values of neighboring cells must differ by at least 5. For cells separated by an ‘x', the two cells' values must sum to 10. For cells separated by a white dot, the two cells' values must be consecutive. For cells separated by a black dot, one cell's value must be double the other. For cells separated by a grey dot, one cell's value must be triple the other.

    Thank you Mark for featuring this awesome puzzle. We have already seen *whispers* with *doublers,* but this implementation is outstandingly *smart* and *elegant* and fully deserves to be featured on the best sudoku channel of CZcams.

    Mark is doing good ignoring the 4 in the middle of the line on row 3. I had to restart the puzzle twice because I was convinced it had to be between a 9 and a doubler.

    41:48 while also eating my lunch. Absolutely fantastic construction from Amin, the break-in was both obvious (since the whisper lines are blatantly broken without doublers) and challenging (the actual distribution of the 5s and doublers wasn't trivial). And there's just something extremely satisfying about a puzzle that just *falls over* so completely once the core logic is deciphered. I went from a handful of placed digits to *done* in only a couple minutes once I sorted out the configuration of the last of the whisper lines.

    Always love the doublers, and this was no exception. The triple kropkis added some interesting elements too, but the undoubted star was the weird configuration of undoubled 5s forced by the whispers. Really marvellous.

    me glancing at the board: somethings not right this forces three 5's in C9.
    mark: something something......doublers
    me: ahhhhh that would do it.

    It is easy to tell that you enjoy that kind of puzzle, Mark, and (despite your protestations about it taking you too long to spot things) it seemed to me that you did it very smoothly. You were never stuck, truly, at least, not for more than a few seconds. I have done one or two puzzles with the doubler constraint in them, and learned so much about how to approach them by watching you do them in videos. Thanks so much for that! (And I hope you made it to the cricket match in plenty of time!)

    00:41:12 for me. Fantastic logic for the 5s to break in! Loved it! Kind Comment.

  • @chocolateboy300
    @chocolateboy300 Před 21 dnem +3

    I finished in 182 minutes. The break-in was really fun and satisfying to spot. Unfortunately, I moved too quickly to putting 4 and 6 into whispers, not realizing that they are not forced to be there. That didn't cause too much backtracking, but it did make me more careful. That is, until, I accidently removed a possibility for doubler in box 5 while coloring the 4 in box 2. That maneuver cost me about 75 minutes. Painful to experience. Great Puzzle!

    25:18 for me. Incredible puzzle. Luckily, I'd seen a bunch of these before by Mark. Same of them used thermos or arrows, but it was always the same principle to see the restrictions on the rows. Nice one!

  • @frankjiang1857
    @frankjiang1857 Před 21 dnem +4

    Finished in 47:42. I kept making the bad assumption of where the high and low numbers were on the german whisper lines, so I had to restart multiple times or my puzzles would die with impossibilities. I also made a bad assumption on the triple kropke with the doubling which also forced me to restart. I would say be careful of the assumptions you make.
    Fun puzzle!

    At 18:25 Mark places a 4 in the middle of the row 3 German Whisper line and says it is sitting next to a doubled digit, but doesn't mark that the box 2 doubler is in row 3 until 46:00!
