Mark, I love your patience and tenacity. I had the "AS" on the first try, finally figured it out on the fifth try a half hour later. I was so sure there wouldn't be another "A" and "S" in it. I figure out the second "A" when I tried "AWASH" on the fourth try. Ten minutes later I got "AMASS." My wife teaches English as a Second Language, and after meeting her, I realized just how weird and difficult Englush is. She loves teaching her students the 500 different ways to pronounce "ough."
I like that feeling where you've got a few guesses left and you KNOW you're going to get the solution if only you could find the ONE thing left that it could possibly be.
I got this one on the second word. My starting word was "ASTER" and I spent like three to five minutes after thinking of "AMASS" because I didn't want to try the double double. But it worked out in the end.
Well done, Mark! This one took me 4: shirt, gland, pease, amass. Wordlebot told me afterwards that amass was the only possibility remaining on my 4th go, but I spent a good minute wondering if that could *possibly* be right, given the double double. Words like omasa and kvass never crossed my mind. 😺
Well that was exhileratimg to watch. And nail biting too. Well done Mark for the entertaining video. I had a good start with ABODE leading to ASTIR then AMASS. Alot of pondering minutes later to get this solution!
Well done Mark. Glad you got it. I think that's the longest of your videos I've seen. I had the same problem with the AS and nothing else. Could end ASY ASP ASS ASK or ASM. Fortunately I still had the letters to try SPASM, which gave me the M. Got it in 5 in the end. Definitely a tricky one.
I quit after the third go because I was typing in all kinds of words that were not registering. I never though of amass. I'm glad you figured this one out.
Situational Wordle wins again..... I was waiting whilst my car had another emissions test done, so I played FUMES as a starter. Then, as I was hoping they wouldn't AMASS, I got an easy 2 today. 🙂 Plus, I m used to Wordle and its trickiness now. I almost always attempt the solve from guess 2. Also, my opener couldn't have been much luckier - FUMES eliminated all but 2 words. AMISS and AMASS. I remembered that AMISS had been the answer before so there was only one option. 🙂
yup, this took me ages as well. I was down to my 6th guess and I had almost the entire alphabet greyed out, but luckily I did manage to get it in the end haha
Grand > Clash > Boast > Peasy > Quasi > Amass This one was absolutely brutal. A double double letter is never fun. It looks like the difficulty I felt for this one was shared seeing how even mark took 5 minutes.
I happened to get this on guess 3 FLAME > CHASM > AMASS I knew it would be a brutal word for most people but somehow got this one very quickly. Theres also been weeks I've struggled with that other people seemed to get very quickly. Always cool to see how it differs from person to person
It took me so long, i literally startet guessing random letters, because as a non-native speaker i didn't even know the word. I dont feel to bad to confess about it though. I feel relieved that even Mark needed a while.
I got the other pair of A and S first, might have been easier to spot the double double from there. A suboptimal PATIO somehow led me to the improbable but very lucky ABLES which only left AMASS as a possible answer.
One time i couldn't come up with, not so long ago. The word was vapid in the end. I knew it ended on id, in the end i got a word mapid if i remember it correctly. In the beginning when i started playing wordle i sometimes gave and put in a word i knew couldn't be it. But nowadays i don't want to do that anymore. But with vapid i really had to make up a word to avoid that.
Nice to see Mark struggle with us lesser mortals, my wife got it in 2 with SMILE- AMASS. I took 4 in about 10 minutes. Couldn't get the double S a tall
GGs! I was thinking [today’s word] at around the four-minute mark, but was trying to think of a better guess that didn’t replicate _two_ letters. Turns out through a word finder app, there were only four possibilities: Kvass, Omasa, Quass and [today’s word] (plus Spasm which could not have worked with the yellow 1st S).
Stare > Clasp > Quasi > Amass I did go for Quasi!! I clocked Amass for third also but refused to use the double double so early. I thought quasi would be fairly likely, prepositions have been the answer before, haven’t they?
Woohoo! I was hoping this one wouldn’t be another streak reset for Marc after I played it yesterday. Got it in 5 I think out of pure exasperation thinking it couldn’t be the word. 😂 The double doubles are indeed mean ones to try to solve
l got this one surprisingly intuitively, but otherwise l probably wouldve struggled with this one as well,, like Mark said double-doubles are quite tricky... l had GHOST PLASM AMASS
MARVEL CHARACTERS ALPHABETICALLY DAY 8: BROOD-STEAK-FLASH-AMASS I think came up with AMASS a lot faster than some people, but man. Nice to hear Mark protest, like me, that "there are no words."
Omg, what!! I got it in 3s and I felt it was rather easy I went with AMAZE, I got 3 greens, I just wanted to check how many Ms are there & if there’ is I or L in it, so I went with SLIMS, then I knew it was AMASS
Yeah, I thought that. I wouldn't have thought it's outside the bounds of what the Wordle editor would allow. Maybe it'll be the answer at some point in the next few days now 🙂
Spoiler I was basically in the same position as him after CEASE and was wondering about double letters since a lot of letters were gone. So I just guessed amass next to check both a and s for duplicates and was surprised that it was the right answer :D
The best part of this was hearing all of Mark’s unlikely answers. OMASA is a heck of a pull and would have been an amazing guess.
He was reluctant to try it but it actually would have helped him a lot, lol
"It's going to take a long time", Mark says, at 2 out of 5 minutes 😂
Great effort, Mark!
A double-double with a vowel starter. Very tricky construction.
at least we got to hear a lot more of that gorgeous violin and piano music. I could listen to that all day!
It is a beautiful song, what is it?
Well done. I had to come back to it about 4 times throughout the day until it clicked!

Does this mean by the time this sequence is done we will all have read Pride and Prejudice through your comments?

How many words are remaining in first novel
Oh my, 5 minutes...tricky one for Mark.
4 guesses for me, though.
Abode -> Attic -> Alarm -> Amass
I saw a video instead of a short. - "oh no..."
I saw the video length. - "OH NO!!!!"
What a treat! Nearly a week's worth of WIAM in one video. Well done Mark!

This was a trial for me as well
Double double is easy here in Canada. Coffee with two cream, two sugar.
😂😂
I did this in multiple visits. 1am got three guesses in. Figured I'd think better after sleeping. Was still difficult.
Getting this in 4 after only 2 greens is probably one of the most impressive wordle solves I've ever seen, holy crap. Well done Mark :D
'We CEASEd to AMASS anything in our BRASH STILL.'
I think we all felt exhausted after that one!
I don’t think Mark could still be brash after that one.
Even at 5 mins, Mark is still faster than 99.99% of my solves.
Well done, Mark! Thank you for the video! 👏👏👏
We are reaching for "Wordle in an hour" 😊
I got this one on the second word. My starting word was "ASTER" and I spent like three to five minutes after thinking of "AMASS" because I didn't want to try the double double. But it worked out in the end.
I had a lot of trouble with this one for the same kinds of reasons. Wow, Mark, well done.
Well done, Mark! This one took me 4: shirt, gland, pease, amass. Wordlebot told me afterwards that amass was the only possibility remaining on my 4th go, but I spent a good minute wondering if that could *possibly* be right, given the double double. This was definitely the longest I have spent trying to solve a Wordle. My streak is up to 194 (highest to date) and I hope I hit the magic 200.
Well that was exhileratimg to watch. And nail biting too. Well done Mark for the entertaining video.
I had a good start with ABODE leading to ASTIR then AMASS.
Alot of pondering minutes later to get this solution!
Wordle in a minute - the movie!
Well done, Mark! That was a vicious one, and it took me a lot longer than five minutes.
One problem I had is that the second latin word you learn is "amas" - you love. And I kept thinking that "Amass" was a mis-spelling of it!
mine took ages as well! I am riding a wave of lucky 3-s recently though so chuffed about that. STORM - AMUSE - AMASS
The first time I ever heard of this word was on one Wordle from you when you tried it … that got me there eventually
There’s a very entertaining one from long ago that was about twelve minutes.
Took me a long time too, so few clues when the answer only uses 3 different letters
In 4, Aisle, Ascot, Abyss, Amass
I quit after the third go because I was typing in all kinds of words that were not registering. I never though of amass. I'm glad you figured this one out.
mark’s struggles with this one makes my own struggles much more vindicated
This one took me AGES, well done
Amass is a really difficult word... Good Job!
I was waiting for you to upload this! 😅 I live in korea so they gave me this word like two days ago
A masterful 4 I would say. It took me quite awhile also.
Mark even started to say "hellow and welcome to cracking the cryptic" as if he knew this one wouldn't be a worlde in an actual minute.
Not being as smart as Mark helps I didn't even know half the words he was torn ɓetween
This was incredibly impressive, sir.
STERN > LOUSY > WHISK > AMASS
Might- Smear - million years later...- Amass
Figured it out right at 4:30. The double S came across as the only pair that didn't require a consonant blend at the beginning
Well done, kudos!
Situational Wordle wins again.....

STILL CHASE GRASS AMASS
Not often do I get the words quicker than Mark, but this one I actually got in less than a minute.
yup, this took me ages as well. I was down to my 6th guess and I had almost the entire alphabet greyed out, but luckily I did manage to get it in the end haha
Grand > Clash > Boast > Peasy > Quasi > Amass
This one was absolutely brutal. A double double letter is never fun. It looks like the difficulty I felt for this one was shared seeing how even mark took 5 minutes.
Letch > angry > audio and then a similar long stare to get amass
Hello, welcome to Wordle in [checks notes] five minutes
I happened to get this on guess 3 FLAME > CHASM > AMASS
I knew it would be a brutal word for most people but somehow got this one very quickly.
A five for me: POINT, BRAKE, QUALM, WHAMS, AMASS (I was very concerned as I had 14 (!) gray letters.)
I had a lucky second guess of Class which made so much easier but it still took sometime
Brutal word, this one took me quite a while too
According to Scoredle: amass, kvass, quass, yaass, omasa, msasa, agasp were the only options left!
I got the other pair of A and S first, might have been easier to spot the double double from there.
A suboptimal PATIO somehow led me to the improbable but very lucky ABLES which only left AMASS as a possible answer.
This was definitely a tough one.

Bread-clasp-toast-quash-spasm-amass took me aboutthe same length of time 😃
They say misery loves company and today Mark experienced what i experience on a daily basis. LOL Come on in Mark, the water is warm.
This was nuch more relatable
CHAOS -> BRASS -> AMASS
The double S was easy to spot. The double A took a bit longer.
Nice to see Mark struggle with us lesser mortals, my wife got it in 2 with SMILE- AMASS. I took 4 in about 10 minutes. Couldn't get the double S a tall
I am really surprised at the use of a double letter in a first word choice.
Still - Brush - Danse (which I typed in by accident and didn't notice before I pressed enter) - Amass
Thanks for making me feel human.
This one had me sweating too:
A L I E N
A C T O R
A B U T S
A W A Y S
A M A S S
That one was tricky, thankfully I had M, A and S after 2!
Stare > Clasp > Quasi > Amass
I did go for Quasi!!
I clocked Amass for third also but refused to use the double double so early.
I thought quasi would be fairly likely, prepositions have been the answer before, haven’t they?
Arise - abyss - amass
Not such an ordeal !
Woohoo! I was hoping this one wouldn’t be another streak reset for Marc after I played it yesterday. Got it in 5 I think out of pure exasperation thinking it couldn’t be the word. 😂
The double doubles are indeed mean ones to try to solve
yo, Mark knows about kvass! I'm pleasantly surprised.
i wasn't able to figure this one out until i saw my friend guess with two ss's
Had a busy day and didnt get to computer to play.
I made a very risky guess at #3 and it paid off
I got it in 5, had a long pause with that a and s too lol. I wanted to see mark get it though
Good day to start with a plural form😅 Games->Amass for me
What is the music playing in the background?
Super tricky one for me. Cannot remember the last time the wordle ended with an S. It really threw me off. Took ages!
l got this one surprisingly intuitively, but otherwise l probably wouldve struggled with this one as well,, like Mark said double-doubles are quite tricky... l had
GHOST
PLASM
AMASS
MARVEL CHARACTERS ALPHABETICALLY DAY 8: BROOD-STEAK-FLASH-AMASS
I think came up with AMASS a lot faster than some people, but man. Nice to hear Mark protest, like me, that "there are no words."
AiSle->ASSAy->AMASS Dang it! I could've had it in 2, if I hadn't replayed a misplaced S. 🎉🎉🎉 I'm cool with a 3.
I was annoyed QUASO wasn't allowed. QUASOOOOOO
Northernlion thumbnail
Omg, what!! I got it in 3s and I felt it was rather easy
I went with AMAZE, I got 3 greens, I just wanted to check how many Ms are there & if there’ is I or L in it, so I went with SLIMS, then I knew it was AMASS
I don't really ever do wordle. What's with the tactic of starting off with a double L?
Wordle in Five Minutes! ;)
Very irritating one indeed. Got it in 5 after double green on the first try:
CEASE > TRASH > FLASK > QUASI > AMASS
I feel like if you had went with Spasm, you'd gotten it faster.
Surprised you didn't want to go for AGASP. Seems like it would be fairly reasonable
Yeah, I thought that. I wouldn't have thought it's outside the bounds of what the Wordle editor would allow.
Maybe it'll be the answer at some point in the next few days now 🙂
Wow I actually did this one in less than a minute (not showing off, mark does them faster than me 99% of the time so I’m gonna revel in this lol)
I was not seeing if even with a double S in my mind
Surprised you didn't try AGASP or OMASA. Yes they were unlikely but they would've provided useful information.
This one took me about 20 minutes (with breaks) to get.
Spoiler
I was basically in the same position as him after CEASE and was wondering about double letters since a lot of letters were gone. So I just guessed amass next to check both a and s for duplicates and was surprised that it was the right answer :D
Don't you just know Wordle is sitting back snickering at all this, congratulating themselves on driving us all crazy.😮
This is how I sit infront of most Wordles, so I'm happy to see that even Mark who usually just quick-fires word after word can get stuck
"This is one of my wierdest Wordle experiences ever."
This is my average Wordle experience 😂
