📋 Puzzle Rules:
• Normal Sudoku rules apply.
• Normal German Whispers rules apply. Consecutive digits on a line must differ by at least 5.
• The digit in the 1 position of a box indexes the 1's location in that box.
• The digit in the 5 position of a box indexes the 5's location in that box.
• The digit in the 9 position of a box indexes the 9's location in that box.
The positions within a box being:

Thank you so much for the solve. The entropic and mod 3 restrictions are the heart and soul of this variant. Well done for spotting them. This is one of my earlier [159]s. I feel like it barely scratches the surface of the interesting ways to leverage the constraint. Thanks again.
I had about a dozen different ideas flash into my head after I noticed that interaction, thank you so much for this amazing puzzle! I'll certainly be checking out the other puzzles in this series, and I hope others do too!
@@dumediat_ I recommend The Sum of All Indexing. If you can wrap your head around it, it might just blow your mind. Other than that, people seem to like the Whispers ones. Again, I really appreciate the solve, the feature, and the kind words.

A smart sudoku. Need a help in box 2, about 5, but as soon as he said about 5 in box 3, I understood what to do! Thank you! 😆
This helped at a couple steps (a single step mirrored): indexing cells had to be "entropic" (low-middle-high) horizontally. In blocks 7 and 8, the 5-index cells had to be GW-high or low, both the same. It only worked because one of the cell's low was a possible 4. Both highs had 6 ruled out. I don't remember this helping, but vertically, indexing cells had to be "modular" -- the digits to be one each of 0, 1, 2 mod 3.
I found this puzzle tricky overall.
The puzzle is symmetric under crossing the center (or 180-degree rotation) and changing N to 10 - N. I only used this to remind me to repeat something I did, on the opposite side.
That initial work on the middle band was very clever but you can simplify it greatly if you start in box 3!

Loved this puzzle and enjoyed working the logic to eliminate 159 options, and before I knew it, was solved. Very enjoyable rule after confusing me until watching the first few minutes of the solve.

starting from about there.
there was no way i was going to be able to carry on with massive pencil marking, so i just arbitrarily PICKED one of the two cases, and filled in all the relevant digits. substantial progress could then be made in rows 456, with SOME of the results being fixed (the pencil marks in box 5) and SOME of the notation meaning "switch boxes 4&6 as necessary" (for which is just coloured the cells orange).
but, because this fixes the polarity of two of the main GW lines, much progress could be made, and eventually, the 5s could be placed in boxes 3%7, and this disambiguates the orange boxes.
so, basically the identical solution dumediat does (and likely the only possible solution), EXCEPT i have collapsed some of the excessive pencil marking into an on/off colour plus the BIG (hence more easily observed) digits
Interesting puzzle.
I noticed the 10-sum rotational symmetry right away, but didn't quite trust it.

Wow. Not hard exactly, but it definitely took a while.
Yeah this is one of those puzzles that doesn't have any particularly difficult steps, but requires asking the right questions to make progress.
