Very informative video Sir, thank you for taking the time to help us out. I would like to add if I may. I'm not sure of any of the other models, however, I do know that on the 2008 9.9 Pro Kicker, I find it best to disconnect the gas line from the tank to the motor and run the gas out before storing it, because, if you leave the gas line hooked up to the motor when in the trailering position, pressure build up will cause gas to seep into the crankcase from the fuel pump. I had this happen to me. Safe Boating!! Dan
thanks bro.
very good video.
Excellent video helped me a lot, do you think you could do about how to replace the cdi ?
Thanks man!
I got same 9.9 bro im trying to replace my prop shaft seal i cant find the right seal..do you know the part number of that prop seal?
Great video thanks!! Where did you get that motor stand?
I'll find a link, I think it was Amazon.
What is the purpose of the “was” port?
Hi. I have a 9.9 mercury outboard motor. Do this motor have to mix the gasoline with a oil. Or is just gasoline. Reason I ask is that I had issue keeping it running. Help pls.
This was a four stroke so no oil mix was needed, you add oil to the motor itself if you have a two-stroke where you don't have an oil reservoir on the motor then you would need to mix
hey man question a bought a johnbaot about 4 months with a 2008 9.9 it used to run fast but ive noticed it has lost power what could it be or what can i do to regain the power?
Full tune up before chasing any specific problems. Clean the carb, new plugs/oils.
is cleaning carbs easy for beginner? @@mvboutdoors
what would be the best propeller for this engine ? mine is all bangged up!@@mvboutdoors
@@Zovie I have the 2008 9.9 Pro Kicker as a Kicker on my boat. Cleaning the Carburetor is fairly easy if you are mechanically inclined. Just take your time, I cleaned mine out no problem. Make sure to use "Rec Fuel" (non-ethanol) disconnect the gas line and run the gas out before storing it in the up/trailering position; 1) it helps to keep the float bowl and carburetor from having gas sit in it and contribute to gum build up in the carb. 2) Pressure from the gas line being continuously connected to the motor will cause the gas in the fuel pump to seep into the crankcase and mix with the engine oil, not good!! I learned this when it happened to me. It's a poor design on Mercury's part, and they don't tell you about the possibility of this happening. I hope this helps you out. Safe boating!! Dan
Which engine stand is that? I know that many look similar, but some are made better than others!
It actually came with the motor when I bought it from the guy, I'm pretty sure it was an Amazon one.
So i had no no gear oil come out what could that be from? I feel so bad for this motor lol.
The previous owner may have drained it, its unlikely to have leaked out. Fill it up, run it, then drain it and see how it looks.
You can swap carb on the 9.9 to a 15hp carb and night and day difference.
Good to know!
Dumb question, why don’t these smaller outboards have oil filters?
I've been wondering this for a long time.
Did you find it worthwhile to add the hydrofoil?
Honestly I had mixed results. No real downsides, it did help for sure but I don't know if it was necessary if that makes sense. I have another video on hydrofoils where I go over how I felt at the time. Currently I'm in a different boat and also considering adding one.
