Agree with everything said...but as a Sri Lankan I would also like to point out that during the past 70 years most politicians made it a point to bankrupt local productions just so they could import foreign goods with personal comissions. And the Rajapaksa family took it to the next level by doing the same but at such a rate that the country went bankrupt within just a few years since they came to power. Their foreign accounts grew in trillions while the country's economy plummeted. They are nothing more than a bunch of uneducated war criminals who came to power by spreading racism. And the saddest of all is that people still voted them into power.

It was not done a in short periods mate . This happened due to lack of mismanagement of money and because most of these politicians are stealing money for their own benefit this downfall started way back in 90s and their only solution was to take loans from other countries which lead to this situation

As a citizen of SL, I see that the cause for rise of these problems is that the country doesnt have good media. People weren't aware how cunning Rajapaksha's was untill now. Rajapakshas have been in power for more than 10 years and all they did was stealing and stealing. Not a single media tried to make people aware about these things. Now the whole country is suffering and humiliated just because of a single family

Sri Lankan crisis has shown that debt, personal/public debt has the capacity to become ur biggest threat and danger especially if you don't have enough emergency funds and ur existing income streams face problems in an unforeseen event like COVID etc. Also Sri Lankan crisis is a big headache and problem for its creditors as well as I don't think any country will be willing to Write off Sri lanka's debts.
