    You could do some analog tuning by putting in resistors to the wiring harness to tweak the voltages on the sensors or actuators.
    One example I can think of, is putting a bit of resistance to tweak the Exhaust O2 sensors, to run it a bit richer. It will slightly lower the voltage and make the ecu think the o2 levels are a bit different.
    You could probably do the same thing to increase fuel pressure slightly or things like that. If you really wanted to get technical, you could use a cheap microcontroller, and a few lines of code, to change the ignition timing. You could even input other sensors to create complex maps for ignition with a bit of code and a cheap microcontroller.
    You can probably look up technical specs for some parts if you can find part numbers, and get info to calculate voltage ranges.
    You would probably have to do a bit of experimenting to figure out voltages. I’d recommend a potentiometer, and a good multimeter, and some notebook paper to write down numbers.

    Polish the exhaust/rough the intake ports.
    On the intake keep the air and fuel suspended and try and keep it off the walls and on the exhaust let it flow and get it out!
    To me an intake port needs to be rough or have what people might call a dimple affect. Same theory as the dimples on a golf ball to make it go further. Those dimples actually make less air drag on the surface of the ball. On the exhaust side, smooth smooth smooth...

    @robertmason8341 Před 2 lety

    Chris, I know you said you don’t actually build the engines yourself but you’ve seen enough busa heads-looking into the port, did suzuki change the port design? I couldn’t tell by the video where you tried to show down the port through the open TB. It looked similar from what I could see. Off the top of my head I can’t remember if they gave valve size in the specs they released. The gen 2 port was ever so slightly different than a gen 1. Once in the right hands they seem to be pretty much right there neck and neck. I’ve had great results building both but if I have the choice I like the gen 2 casting and throttle bodies with 2 injectors as a starting point. On the big builds 2 injectors make for better tuneability in that you can run a small injector for the low rpm/light load conditions and then transition to a big monster for high rpm/load and big dry nitrous setups versus running one big ass injector in the gen 1 throttle bodies can be hard to get to idle and run clean down low.

    Have you run into any starting issues with your 22 Busa? Mine always cold starts perfectly fine, but sometimes after riding and taking a short break, even if it's turning it off for 2 minutes to get gas, it refuses to start for 5 - 10 minutes. It makes sounds like a dead battery, but I got the original battery tested, it passed everything, even replaced it just in case, and it still does not like to start after the motor gets hot. Suzuki also will not approve any shops take it apart for an intermittent issue.

    • @jediknight1294
      @jediknight1294 Před 2 lety +4

      The question is is an AUS ECU the same as a US ECU. It's always a crapshoot on what parts are the same as various nations have specific restrictions. The US have some top speed restrictions the UK bikes don't have which is why you see throttle opening restrictions at high speed/high rpm on the US bikes and ESPECIALLY the Cali compliant bikes.
      For years a UK ECU was cheaper and easier than a US ECU remap/flash but now the immobilisers and electronics are locked to the key you need to swap ignition, alarm and immobiliser so it is worth the time and energy to crack the ECU.

    I'd make a bracket out of flat steel stock rather than cut up the OEM. I know it's not my bike, but I'd have larger microns going thru a more breathable filter and sacrifice a 1/4 pound of compression with all those cut line on the cylinder walls? Not my bike. Max comp, right? I'd rather razor off the plastic melted stubs that hold the steel meshed sneeze screen on the filter. Runs smoother. PC wise, clip for clip, you have the 8 jumper clips for the shower and main injectors, I think it will work. No showers hooked up, I don't know, to maybe, to, only the clips knows for sure. Modify the stacks shorter for drag racing, sure. No torque at the bottom like you said. Man, I'd 3rd a 3/rd and have a total of 3 stacks to choose from. Out of the hole with shorts? Hold my beer, watch me eat this clutch pack coming out of the hole? My guess for the wall in the stack is it heads straight down the middle, not shot across the other side of the circle. It's all about the speed event. Short stacks, faster is the air entering. So I'd short stack with wall. Breaching the stepper motor is another story I'd be after.

    A polish will slow air velocity in the port. Open it but don’t polish.

      He is polishing a EURO5 brick. When is he going to transplant an older tunable ECU? No he removes the rear brake.🤣

      “Port and polish” is just a figure of speech pretty much. Chris has been doing this long enough to know you don’t actually polish the intake port. Any engine builder worthy of being called an engine builder knows you don’t polish the intake port. A few still polish the exhaust port and combustion chamber to try and slow down carbon buildup. the coatings available nowadays are a much better option. I don’t recall whether polished ports slow velocity, I have always been under the impression it causes fuel puddling on the walls, rather than the “rough” cartridge roll/cross buff/fly lapped finish which better promotes fuel atomization and keeps the fuel suspended in the airflow.

      @@robertmason8341 port and polish is a method still used today. My comment is not an attack on Chris so stop with the lecture because you really don’t know by your own words. 😎
