+Atraira We kinda do and kind of don't.. This was the trailer that welcomed in the 3year plan (Maybe 5 year?). This was the ultimate goal of it. To have all of their different games linked together with the new player built stargates and access to new space. They covered it in 2015 fanfest again, there should be info on it in the Keynote.
5 year seems more likely now.
Though it took me 2 years to really think about how this is Amarr vs. Everyone. So much for my derived standings.

Grady Klein See that's my exact thoughts. But the time it will take to achieve all this will be vast. These videos are for marketing after all :P But CCP might pull it off within a decade, especially if Valkyrie goes mainstream and makes CCP massive profits like it probably will with it being the first of it's kind and being released on both pc and console (ps4)
Keep in mind gents this will be in a few years... the mention of gates likely means they are coming within the next two expansions but everything else is up for debate.

I was more getting at how they use visuals and cinematography to set the tone and tell their story (which I think movies are hit and miss with these days) but YES movies are very hard to make indeed.

The entirety of the universe aka 100+ billion galaxies weaponized into a super-massive war machine to pump countless Nonadecillions of Night Wings which each can machine gun black holes and splice galaxies by cutting the 2D fabric of reality. Oh, did I mention that each ship is an effectively 4D construct with how well they time-travel and impervious to anything short of a point-blank supernova or above?
Except they are loosing in numbers and firepower by over 9:1 to Photino Birds who are basically Dark Matter equivalent and are destroying stars universe-wide accelerating their natural deaths.
Well if it wasn't for the lag and the way you were facing gave you a disadvantage or advantage, the space battles would like how they are portrayed in the trailers.

Apparently something of major improtance. Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar ships can be seen, all of them trying to prevent the Amarrian fleet for prevent its activation.
Update. Apparently, more lore knowledgable people have said it is a capsuleer faction fighting the Empire.

What i want to know is, where is that gate, where has it come from, why did it get there HOW did they manage to build it, where does it go and where the feck is the lore leading up to this point, because *bam* super-gate is a bit of a big deal.

The first EVE Gate was a natural wormhole..... If this is an artificial one there's not telling what would happen on containment failure. Bad enough shit happened when they originally tested Jump Gate tech, something we use every day...
But this.... This could mean the literal death of more sectors of space. Which i wouldn't mind seeing happen to Goon HQ.

The Prophecy - a change was made in industry which disrupted players contact lists to absolute 0 and made space barren once again.
For the love of all that is gaming, you people need to pay attention to the trailer more. The Minmatar, Gallente, and Caldari are not working together against the Amarr. What you're seeing is a corporate military force consisting of nothing more than privateers known as the Drekar Alliance (0:50) fighting against a single faction that fears the privateers.
the other factions teaming up against the amarr sounds cooler.

if only EVE was really like that, with some dynamism. most of the time entire fleets are docked at the station, pilots spinning ships, waiting for the hostiles to clear the area, or inside a POS shield waiting like 30 min for a cyno and jump command for some opportunity catch...
that sounds pretty dynamic to me...

You might as well use "if only every game was really like that...". You get two types of trailers, the one for building a premise/world-building/aesthetic of a game, and gameplay trailers.
It's like complaining about any videogame that has a CGI intro scene before the game starts that it's "nothing like the actual game". No shit, has any video that does this been like that, for any game? Are World of Warcraft CGI trailers like this a representation of WoW? Is it supposed to be? No.
Many game trailers like these are awesome for the sake of being awesome and building up the world aesthetic or whatever of a game, not the gameplay. That's what gameplay trailers are for.

I have not been active in EVE for months, and now hearing about Legion and Valkyrie, I am starting to nerd out... I can't get enough of this universe. Dogfighting in frigates, taking over stations and ships on foot as an FPS (drool) and they are FTP! so my cheap ass can play it comes out!

I hope they can pull it off, the absolutely best of course would be everything really interconnected: Valkyrie pilots launching from the carrier ships of EVE online commanders and Legion mercs fighting boarding crews in the same fleet battle... but that will probably stay a dream. (sigh)
***** Adding boarding crews wouldn't be hard at all with current tech. The FPS fights could happen on different servers, and only report the outcome of the battle to the EVE server. The Valkyrie integration would be much harder, because they are in the same space.

Kaedis Well, it is your decision what scrubs to hire for your carrier so it's also kind of your fault if they are AFK right when they are needed. Also you would probably still have the drones, they are just less effective against real enemy fighter pilots.

I'd like to point out to everybody asking about Caldari fighting Amarr:
If you look closely, there are lots of Caldari and Gallente ships in the fleet, but lots of Minmatar ships as well. Tempests, Naglfar, and that Hel that gets DD'd at the beginning.
This mixed fleet is supposed to represent capsuleers.
Also; "Drekar Alliance" is the alliance name CCP uses when trying to refer to some hypothetical player alliance without referring to any particular one. It was the name of the alliance the guy infiltrated in the "Causality" trailer for example.
so in other words...Amarr just declared war on capsuleers.

well, if your allowed to send them to anything that isnt already about to die, then youll just end up with alot of instances where a ship would have survived/won but instead loses to the random matchmaking rolls in a game he has no ability to see let alone influence, bad mechanics. besides that, how in the hell would you make the fight last long enough? outside 10% tidi in null. fights dont last more than a minute or two in battleships, at the frigate level your usually talking seconds.
Ramanoser That is why they would be used in larger battles, and on targets that don't have primary. And they could have an influence: by developing a legion corp and have it on stand by in the case of invasions a la EVE rules. As EVE goes, if you've you have a bad fleet then you're on the wrong fleet and you will be punished. And with this, the same would go for leggionares. Bad legion corp? Too bad, you should have made a better one. Believe me, if they played as large a role in battle as that, no larger corperation would do without a bad ass DUST team.

Amarr taking the center stage as always. I honestly don't have much issue with this though. The Caldari and Galente are like children that never learn, however the MInmatar have always been my favorites. By far the most ingenious and most human of the races, doing just as much in such a small time frame as the amarr did in a thousand years. They're just bad ass.

Sure Amarrian taking the centre stage. We were first amongst the stars, we are the most advanced (well... after Jove) and we are meant to rule. Minmatar ingenious? Most human? Putting a propulsion on fragile system of solar panels and a very little of steel? Those slaves never evolved from tribal comunity, still uses most primitive technology and without help of... incident with Jove and major help from Gallente Federation, they would still be at their rightful place as slaves in Amarr Empire.
The Maelstrom class battleship, what the Minmatar can build when they aren't trying to escape slavery at the same time!

If there is a better game company outthere for SiFi, you can blame CCP, If not, DONT BLAME CCP. They are humans like us: Eating, slepping, party, stress with wifes and children. BUT they delivered the most outstanding SiFi game since the invention of the PC. Please try to honor that.

It's heartbreaking to realize that in 2014, CCP had a vision for EVE that spanned 3 genres and 3 platforms (PC, console, VR), with the potential to create the single most immersive and comprehensive sci-fi universe ever, and then... nothing.
My heart broke to Chance. Then they sold out to a Chinese money making company. Reality is often disappointing.

I wonder if this was the first hint of the Triglavians. The gate in the trailer was largely assumed to be a capsuleer gate, and we recently got them. Only to be followed shortly after by the Triglavians basically declaring war and constructing something massive.

No, it's likely that the ship was there in support of the Amarr.. they were attacking the Galentte. Yes, they did sacrifice their lives to activate what ever that was; they must have known that the resulting massive EMP would take out all their ship and life support.
Nope, Amarr fight capsuleers. Some Minmatar ships can also be seen, and Drekar has been used as a player alliance name for previous CCP videos (i.e. the Causality trailer)

this coulda been a great proof of concept for a series or film based on the eve online novels
wow, i like how at 0:53 they show us the player characters from each of Eve's franchises. the left is a Calidari Merc from Dust 514 (or Project Legion), in the middle is a pilot from Eve Valkyrie, and the right is a pilot from Eve Online. thats pretty cool to hav them all in one spot, it makes me think that this Prophecy thing is gonna affect all of the Eve platforms and maybe bring them closer together. judging by this trailer, Eve players will b able to launch Eve Valkyrie players into battle and even deploy Dust 514 (or Project Legion, seems like this 1 wud b the best one to choose since it will also b on PC so no cross platforming hassle) players onto the ships on other Eve players. if thats the case i very much look forward to the Prophecy.
its most likely about the player built stargates they plan on adding (it doesn't make any sense i know just go with it) to take one down it needs both dust and pilots the fighter pilots were just adding in because why not

Now the new display port standard has been updated to support something that is pretty much the same and Nvidia's version will just die off like it should. At least they couldn't purchase display port and ruin it like they did with ageia.
Of course when ageia first was coming out with this stuff single core CPUs were the norm. Now quad cores are almost the most common CPU around and games are leaving cores idle and ripe for physics calculations. I think once quad core+ CPUs are in 95% of gaming desktops we will finally see a shift towards physics in games being something meaningful.

EVE can be amazing at times but as an ex-player, the fact that you cannot play entirely solo completely puts me off from playing this again, it is a shame because you can hardly find anything like this and battle and ship sizes are simply staggering
you can play entirely solo no problem, but doing so will generally bore the shit out of you. this is where the whole sandbox thing enters: if you're bored, you go do something else in-game, solo PvP for example is amazing. EVE remains a social game though, i am having a hard time understanding why you'd specifically want to play it alone.

Also as an ex-player - the game portrayed in all these videos is a fallacy - it pretends to be something fast-paced like a wing commander or x-wing and yet it is so ploddingly slow - it was a great solution to insomnia - just play 30 mins of this and you cant keep your eyes open - agreed not a solo player game AT ALL and too many griefers/gankers - pass

The entire tone and seriousness of the trailer isn't about building something to take you to another place you've already been or link to another similar gate. No... the alliance in this trailer is about to do something that TERRIFIES the Empires; they are about to open a gate to an entirely new area of space, and there are serious risks involved.

If you step back and look at the whole, I think it has evolved quite nicely over the years and they are approaching (slowly ill give you that) their goal. and with each trailer, I get the feeling that the concept is getting better refined. I have faith in CCP, or i wouldn't be giving them my money(Time in case of PLEXed account)

Dust 514 on the super old PS3 was the biggest mistake ever, the game would have been bigger and better on PS4 if only they waited 6 months... Legion i wonder how this will tie to eve when dust 514 already has that place, they said they want dust to be on ps3 for 10 years... lol...

***** It isn't coming to PS4. Last year they said their vision was to get the Eve Universe on all systems possible (mobile, console, pc, etc.) now this year they are changing the vision. They are a PC company and to create the greatest games they are focusing on only PC games. Legion is PC only just like EVE Online and they will be connecting all three games into the Eve Universe so you don't have to worry about that.
Jeremy Shore Microsoft put the kaibash on the idea of getting it on all systems almost immediately. Dust was supposed to be a multi-console release, but Microsoft refused to make any security of infrastructure changes to allow Dust to interact with Eve.

If that's the case, I'd love to see a single player game, or even a movie, based in this universe, with a solid story behind it. I think they could do that and have it be very popular.

Its kind of disappointing looking at this, 4 years later. Valkyrie is nothing but a deep-as-a-puddle arcade shooter that has more or less been abandoned. DUST was shut down, its successor Legion was canceled, and now the successor Nova is just going to be a lobby shooter that isn't actually connected to EVE in any way. EVE itself is on a skeleton crew and server performance over the last 6 months is rapidly degrading. The game director responsible for this plan quit, the community team was fired, half of Permaband was fired, almost all of the recognizable CCP faces from Fanfest streams quit or were fired. The last few "major expansion" features have basically been flops, and the most recent news is 2 mobile phone EVE games being developed with P2W Chinese app developers. So sad to see my favorite game over the last 10 years going this way. When this came out I had such high hopes for the direction of CCP.
