They should make a series out of this, just take real stories from people in the game and have them narrated like this. It could be called "Tales from Eve." It doesn't always have to be big battles, there can be smaller, more personal stories too.
They are.
Sinboto Simmons Sweet!
Tassadarky any links to these stories ?
Cameron Fitton
They haven't made any movies/film series as of yet, however they're working on it(tm). They did release the comic, the fall of BOB alliance. The series they will make are picked from truestories.eveonline.com/truestories/index.html
I believe there was talk of making a TV series out of it too.
After 2 months-ish I finally understood what this guy did. Gallente ships use blasters which are short range, they were being sniped out, this guy I am assuming he was using an Atron class interceptor to get close to the enemy fleet. When he reached the enemy fleet I think he was 150 km away from his friendly fleet and they were able to warp to him at zero, where their blasters were more effective.
Yeah basically they were up against long range battleships but they were in AHACS, the problem was AHACS have very high damage within 15 kilometers but they were over 200km away, the cepters burned towards the enemy battleship fleet so the AHACS could warp to zero, well within their gun optimal and at the same time being under the enemy gun range.
Just Blo great Job dude it took me 5 replays to understand everything ;D
There is not a single AHAC in this video.
AHAC?
AHAC stands for "Armored Heavy Assault Cruiser" A doctrine of extremely resilient T2 cruisers capable of miracles at short range.
As said there were not a single one in this battle.
It was a mixed Armor Battlecruisers/Battleships, mostly Gallente versus a sniping Battleships/Battlecruisers Amarr-Caldari Fleet.
I personally enjoyed the video. Is it an entirely accurate portrayal of the gameplay, no. Bur it does capture some of the intensity that players can have when they have invested into the game and their character. I have had a few of my own "I was there" moments. Flying a Brutix into the heart of an enemy fleet, leveling what destruction I could, to buy the bulk of my fleet time to withdraw, with two friends, who refused to let me go in alone. The pulse pounding adrenaline rush of flying into odds that I knew weren't survivable. The exhilaration of having fleetmates willing to follow you into hell. It was a rush that I have never found in any other game.
As someone who flies tackle a lot I can fully relate to what he's saying, going all out on the hero runs. But you're right it's not entirely accurate... it's missing several hundred warp disruption bubbles ;)
"Ceptors, if you can get close to them, we can still win this. Go."
"Fleet, order targets by range. Let's go to work."
"All ships, you are weapons free. Kill'em all."
I'm almost crying staring at the resub button. I know I don't have the time or money, but damn it all, I want that feeling back.
I know those feels! But all the people I played with (entire aklliance and corp) are no more. Worried I wont get that feeling back!
Though I never participated in a massive battle like this, me and my corpies being mostly logistical support to the alliance, I did take part in several interceptor roams. Some of them were quite intense, and that in itself was amazing. I can only imagine what The Great Titanomachy must have been for those involved. And to think that it all started out as what one might call a rookie mistake, that lead to thousands of capauleers burning down hundreds of billions of ISK.
I want my license back! But life just won’t let me 😞
We miss you.
after all these years, this is still my most favorite trailer vid. \o/
I swear, this guy is so good at acting. The emotion, the intensity behind his every word gets my blood pumping. It's like he was a real veteran and had survived a vicious, violent confrontation, and now he was telling it to someone else. He's so good, it brings a tear to my eye.
i have to assume you're being sarcastic. Dude sounds like he's auditioning for a high school play
Hes not... but i wouldn't expect him to be. Its not his career. Fucking legend tho for what he did.
"I was there": Being part of a fleet that blew up a citadel literal seconds before the enemy defense fleet arrived, then skittering around in my little Ares with a gang of buddies to harass the enemy while our big guns got out. Worked like a charm until I made the mistake of slowing down for approximately 2 seconds and was volleyed off grid by a couple of Brutixes.
You will never, in any game anywhere, get the same white-knuckle rush as flying interceptors in EVE. Flying an "engine with a seat" into the teeth of the enemy, surviving only by being too screamingly fast to hit, holding down a ship 100 times your size......It is the most fun.
I've been wondering what kinda ships I should focus into so I could start having my own "I was there" moments.. might end up focusing on faster ships lol
@@LycanWolfGaming Speed is huge. They can't kill what they can't catch and they can't escape what they can't outrun. Exceptions exist, but....yeah. Go fast good.
@@Maladjester no kidding, I love going fast in this game lol
Greatest online game I have ever played. Glad to be part of the EVE Universe
ikr
Could you imagine if EVE Valkyrie being added to this. Having players in fighters attack one another like a real space battle. That would be even more epic plus being over a planet that have mercs fighting in Dust. Oh man just thinking about it makes me excited
Joshua Skidmore well that won't happened but eventually we might see it someday since that is the vision of ccp
Fun fact when we the players of Eve Dust 514 call in a air strike its actually you guys playing eve on PC that fire the orbital strikes we call in. We do the ground work while you guys do the space battles.
evan stokely I knw that. Talking about a wider view on battles that have yet to come.
This was what sold Eve for me. I had to play it after watching this.
AP07H30515 me to bro
No matter how many times i watch this, it always gives me goosebumps...
2:00
...
Я на грибах и кокаине
The chills this gave me, holy shit.
at the end right =P awesome video
Soon enough, we're gonna see an "I was there... I was there at the Massacre at M2-XFE"
Even after 11 years this game still gets my adrenaline going like no other.
This is why flying interception/fast tackle in eve is the most fun out of anything.
You thought this was a game!? YOU THOUGHT FOR EVEN A SECOND THIS WASN'T REAL LIFE???
Zero-G-Worx 😁lol
I had to laugh too 😂
3 Years later and I am still there lol. Greatest game ever.
Mr. Duncan thats true
Good lord, this makes me want to play this game so badly... but I'm not sure if my computer or wallet would be able to handle it...
Oh well: watching videos is good too, and free!
The wallet bit is why I really wish there was something able to generate fights as epic and tactical as that of EVE, but free.
The involvement of real money is largely what keeps it from devolving into a mindless free-for-all though.
Actually, what I'd really like is a game that's a one-off-purchase, PvE; and if the NPCs destroy certain structures, players can't respawn until they are rebuilt by survivors.
Its actually not the resource demanding of a game. And the download on only about 6 Gb. And there is even ways to pay for your subscription using ISK, but you are still gonna have to pay will real money cuz using ISK really inst practical. But if you afford it than do it cuz the game is really fun!
Sean Conrad Well, I could likely grind just fine to more or less play for free, but my biggest thing would be that, in my time offline, I'd likely get attacked and everything I had worked hard for up until that point would be gone. That, and I'm afraid I'd get swindled so many times that, eventually, I'd turn into even more of a cynical asshole and trust nobody, and that would make the game much less "fun" for myself.
Plus, my computer is a laptop, and I think it's a 4GB or something, or maybe that's the processor. Either way... I'd love to, but I devote most of my time to stuff off of the internet.
Well i just downloaded the game and am playing on a trial and i think its a lot of fun. The game is 6 Gb to download but it is doesnt require a good computer. I too am running it on my laptop just fine. Download it and play the 14 day free trial and see if you like it. It couldnt hurt right?
Sean Conrad No, I guess it couldn't. I mean, worse comes to worst, I gt addicted to it or something. Just going to read up on all the wikis, beginner's guides and forums before I do.
I find it rather interesting that of any mmo trailer that I've seen, Eve seems to be the only one that incorporates actual player-created jargon/slang in their trailers (tacklers, ceptors, x's in fleet, clear comms)... Way to increase the feeling of immersion CCP! Love your trailers!
I've watched this video a few times now and I just realized: did the Fleet Commander actually say "X's in fleet comms" at 1:21? I find it funny that they would say that in a trailer :P
Yep, re-watching it that's what i heard too. Also caught myself saying out loud @ 0:51 " FC really? ...they're in battleships... burning out of range? .FROM THE SNIPER BOATS??" Now they would just drop an Ishtar fleet and call it a day.
The comms for the trailer are almost identical to what happens in real comms, because it's retelling an event. Not sure what's funny. They also said warp to 0, which a long time ago couldn't be done. That's kinda funny. ;)
It's actual comms from real fights, most of it at least
You also hear " Reds at 200"
I agree they should take actual stories and make things like this more often.... super cool!
To those wondering what ship he is flying. It's a Gallente Interceptor called the Taranis.
Or is it an Ares? I know if i was flying tackle in a fleet like that, FC would want the extra point/scram range. Personally, I love my Taranis for small gang and solo PvP. Hope to see you around someday in Low/Null.
Fly Safe o7
Marty Beard Face The Ares is red, the Taranis is brown.
Marty Beard Face Also the Ares is smaller
andrew15052 No they're the same hull lol
***** Where the hell did you get the Nemesis from you dimskulled idiot? Go back and read and you'd see we're talking about the Ares and the Taranis, both of which are Gallente Interceptors, both of which are based off of the Atron hull, and both of which are the same size.
I was there! Im telling you, EVE is so like real life, I cant quit...... I was there..... I always will be there, with my new delusional life in space.
Smith Andrew Nah. It's just a game. This trailer is an exaggeration really.
Alex Zhou IDK I mean with eve vr coming out................
Alex Zhou Every game is just a game. Until it becomes more than just a game.
i've been there. since 2009.
One thing about EvE that no other game touches...you don't have to be the biggest guy around to effect the battle. you can be flying a frigate and turn a fleet action to your advantage. Everything effects everything.
ЛЮБОЙ БИДОН ПРАЙМОРИ!
lol
xD
Wow over two mil views, which is the exact same situation on Eve online, "viewers" more than actual players.
This sends chills down my spine every single time
so many years...and still better on mushrooms
Kermity?
An outstanding game after all this time.
My favourite part it 1:40 where the ceptor pilot is firing in random directions just whoring on as many killmails as possible.
hahaha
This is epic
2020
Started with eve
I hope this universe will remain open for long into the future so i can explore it
This video still gives me goosebumps, 2 years later.
the guy sounds like he has ptsd after the bloodbath of B-R5RB and he keeps saying ''i was there'' to his theraspist
Bloodbath of B-R5RB, i like to remember it as Powerpoint of B-R5RB.
The lag was that bad?
Anyone else still get chills when they watch this?
no
Flying an interceptor is not such an easy task, and even more in such battle. One single wrong move and you could get shot in a second. I enjoy the fact that the fleet commander greets its interceptors pilots at the end because they are vitals to any fleets, regardless of the low DPS they can provide. But they provide warp pings, scout information, tackle. As an interceptor pilot, you get constant adrenaline.
I seriously get goosebumps all over the place when I watch this. This is SO awesome.
Yesterday, I wasn't there...
I've been there several times. But sadly EVE doesn't work like this anymore, it's all about hotdrops on hotdrops. No one fights with honor anymore.
I don't miss playing EVE anymore, but i do miss my corpm8s alot.
DICE / BoB 4ever.
Dreez76 Fighting with honor? IDK, but the reason EVE is what it is is because you can do what you like. It is a differnt kind of game, because there are no rules. It lets us know, "If I can be evil, will I be evil?".
Ye but some fights where people can't kill a squad of 10, they bring 15 or 20 or how many it takes...
My standpoint is that if you can't kill your enemy with even numbers, you should go practise and come back later.
I always fought outnumbered to some extent in EVE with my corps, and it was always fun because we always kicked their ass, but then people started resorting to hotdropping.
If you can't beat you enemy with even numbers, go practise.
Dreez76 But teamwork should let you do that. Take for example, The Flight of a Thousand Rifters. 1000 noobs in frigs, vs less than 10 supertanked ships. I can get how much a hotdrop sucks, but it's just them resorting to tactics needed to win. Look at Sun Tzu art of war sometime. This is how fights are won. Using everything that is at your disposal.
+Dreez76 There is no such thing as honor in war. Gaming or otherwise.
Luciferdesrea
Then those with honor chose not to fight.
I've been playing Eve for almost a year now, and I watched these because they look cool, and still do, but now when I hear the radio chatter of just about every video in a fleet battle I understand everything they say, love this game :)
I've played EVE Online for about a month now. It's not any harder than other MMOs I've played (Age of Conan, Secret World and SWTOR). I had to Google to understand this Excel thing that everyone is referring to. When I found the answer... Wow, the game has changed a lot! If it had been so hard than they say it was, no way I'd play it. Now I'm flying around with my Vexor, exploring new worlds with a smile :)
I "soloed" VGs with my own fleet of 7 ships including my vulture booster (pre-changes to boosting) which I used as the AAA. 2 scimis (one was IV logi so I only had two links) two navy harbies for tackle and NM/napoc for dps. I didn't have the time to skill up pilots to fly vindis so the harbies worked (navy harbies can sport a massive shield tank). Good for about 600something mill an hour.
EDIT : I kind of ad hoced my fleet as I only had a couple months to get the harbies and second scimi pilot going. The napoc pilot was almost ready to fly a NM when I quit. If the eve nodes weren't randomly unstable I would still be doing it and making even more. I would fill the rest of the fleet with newbies so I could train/introduce them to incursions.
i was there...
So was Das.
Does anybody else think that the guys avatar looks like a young Michael from gta v?
I was there. I can’t believe it’s been eleven years.
Still one of the best adverts for EVE
-"We built something great, and we're not gonna let them destroy it".
- Shoot an Amarr Freighter that just undocked.
Sounds like Gallente (and America lol) logic to me.
For anyone that says or thinks this kind of thing doesn't happen, IT DOES! I took part in something just like this today. We had 100 ships and were destroying a POS, a hostile uncloaked and lit a cyno 250km away from us and dropped 100 other ships and 2 carriers. We would have been slaughtered, but our interceptors and dictors warped to us, and burned in close to them as fast as they could, a few of them losing their ships in the process so the hostile fleet would be bubbled and could not warp away and also giving us the chance to warp to the friendlies among them and boy when the FC warped us all in close, it was a bloodbath for them. About 21 of our capitals cynoed in after we got in close, and in the end we lost about 20 ships, they lost around 75 including both carriers!
Or... everyone in your fleet could just warp to the cyno beacon they lit at zero.
Marlona Sky They destroyed their own cyno ship before we could warp to it.
IceTalon Cold blooded and fantastic!
Its fun to watch this gives me incentive to get past the tutorial missions and start the grind towards the big ships
Is there anywhere to just find the background music?
I love this one and keep on rewatching it xD
The Atron needs a redesign, its been five years
Любой бидон праймори!
I fought in the fountain war for the CFC with my friends in a fighter squadron, GO ANGLES OF DEATH
It's so fun to be part of something that crazy and community-driven in a game.
This is going to be more true than ever with the release of Valkyrie. Cannot wait!
Except every damn player know that you shoot down fuckers flying towards you...
Minimeister317 lol 0 transversal. Blappfest
Croaky On two hundred kliks with an interceptor going at 4k m/s? That's Five seconds to react, if you get complacent, think you've got the enemy beat, you'll miss that five second window. No such thing as competence on the battlefield, the one who screws up next to last wins.
jonasgrant I think your math is slightly off. Last time I checked
200km / 4km/s =/= 5s
:p
Croaky Those ships were snipers... So they would have tracking enhancers and tracking computers onboard with tracking and optimal scripts... So wouldn't be entirely impossible... Besides all battleships got drones.
i was there i cant i cant go to the real life anymore i must stay in space
Fleet composition is tailored to different engagements. Larger ships tend to be less manoeuvrable, but have more potential to damage (DPS) and absorb damage (eHP). This tends to apply to equally large ships however, and smaller ships are necessary to deal with their counterparts on enemy fleets.
Some smaller ships tackle (i.e. prevent enemy ships from disengaging and leaving the field of battle), others prevent hostile locks on friendly ships to minimise friendly ship losses.
I too was there. I miss it so much.
I nerd-gasmed
У меня катаракта. Доктора говорят что играть надо меньше.
After years watching my dad play, i didnt see the appeal, once i got my own pc i decided to dabble, now im hooked and ive only scratched the surface
man every time i watch this, causuality, and dominion trailers i get goose bumps and i remember why i play eve
but,the russians win this battle :c
It's a great game for a wide variety of personalities: tribal loyalists, loner prospectors, predatory bullies.
All that is REALLY necessary is a lot of expendable hours ... if you don't wanna be a fat ass, get one of those standing desks. ;-)
Len Arends Nah, you can play two hours a day. Just like I do.
+Alex Zhou Filthy casual :p
Greatest game ever even echoes doesn't have anything on the main game. Wish we still had that captain quarters though.
Chills every time i watch it :3 by far my favorite EVE video.
i was there to and uninstalled it.
One of my first pvp experiences was I was in a high sec wardec corp. I was in a T1 slicer trying to group up with the fleet. Somehow I got ahead of the vindicator they where chasing. When it showed up I panicked was hit my prop and went straight for it. The first shot put me into structure and then I got my orbit established and he couldn’t hit me. Shortly after the T3 fleet arrived and we got the kill.
Just watched this and it just brought back all the memories of seeing an enemy fleet land out of our range and have the ceptors rush (or cloaky cov ops more like it) so our fleet could drop on top of them.
Absolutely fantastic
God damn, the thrill of being a ceptor pilot is fantastic. There's nothing like locking and pointing a larger ship than you, getting repped by logistics and shooting out drones while the FC calls from target to target, finally laying onto the one that you had pointed while trying to evade web range from every enemy on the field while keeping a point, and boom, pure fucking satisfaction.
When the FC starts talking the cam switches to the hyperion, the guy in the vid was the interceptor pilot.
This is, in my opinion, the best EVE trailer of them all. If I had seen this months ago, I'd have joined up much faster than I did, and it really feels like things that actually happen in-game. Beautifully done.
I do think this is one of the best trailers in eve, really does show how players dictate what happens and shows a good example of what can actually happen.
Wow, we have a guy here that knows how the future will look. Please let us worship you, you who are from the future and who came to show us the path. Please o great one.
Still my favorite EVE video. Gets me every time.
I've been it battles like that. Out gunned out maneuvered and all hope was lost. Only for something like that to happen and turn it around. It's rare. You usually just wake up in the station and start building another ship. But I swear this brought a tear to my eye with the truth of that feeling.
I can't say " I was there" yet, but I'm still pretty new, looking forward to when I can say I was though! EVE ONLINE rocks!
Yes, BoB blew up Cyvok of Ascendant Frontier's titan. The first built and the first destroyed. They caught him after he disengaged from a fight or something and logged out. He still had an aggro timer, thus keeping him logged in for its 15 min duration with no pilot at the helm, as I recall.
He attempted to petition it in several ways, but CCP refused to restore it as it was all done within game mechanics. That kids is why we always dock, or wait for our timers to run out.
best part was when he turned into Michael from GTA 5 at the end
Of the small fleet skirmishes ive been in, there have been some pretty ballsy blows from me and my friends. We never have more that 10 ships, 2 battle ships, 4 BC's, and 4 Cruisers for support. Its been crazy taking on Carriers, gangs of frigates, and stuff. They should do something with small fleet engagements like these.
I love it when a game seems so real that you actually feel like you're part of that universe. I had that feeling for the first time while playing EVE. It's seems so real, the visuals are mind blowing.
i was there when eve used to be worth playing, so long ago that was tho, and such a different set of players. So sad to see what happened to her, she always had so much more potential then the other games, and to see her in such a state is truly depressing.
I remember watching this before I started playing eve and I thought it was pretty cool. Now that I have been playing for a while I can understand what he is talking about and I was so drawn in that I almost cried when the tide turned.
10 seconds sometimes feels like an eternity.
Thanks for the incites
This was 9 years ago already? Oh god, I’m getting old.
Well, I wasn’t actually there. But I was a capsuleer when this happened. I miss the good old days 😞
am i the only one that in the end of the video had chills and a smile on his face?
Watched them all. Really loved the series.
Do not forget B-R5RB always be in our memory
A long time ago, we had a POS way out in null sec, desperately needed fuel. I scouted ahead for the hauler, ran into an interceptor at the last gate. So I hit the interceptor with a few ECM's and then warped to a nearby planet, sure enough he followed me... cleared the way and our hauler was able to reach the POS safely. I thought the same thing like, "Did that actually just happen?" EVE's the only game I have ever played where the actual players create their own paths and stories to tell.
He means its pretty easy to train up all 3 characters on ONE account and its highly recommended for new players.Train Hauler and level 4 Planetary Interactions and youve got a decent bonus income even if you set it up in empire space (you dont need to add the risk in lowsec if you dont want to.)
@DwightMcCarthy4nr There are certain ships, the Tier 3 strategic cruisers, which you can change the look of by adding or removing different mods.
"Fleet, order targets by range, let's go to work!"
Its awesome to see that the fleet compositions adhere to faction warfare allegiance as well :)
It suppose that if a ship of your fleet is somewhere in space, can give the "destination" and then all the fleet can warp to that ship/destination, what that ship did is go very close to the enemy (alive) and make possible to his fleet warp to him.
In EVE every single ship is important. My personal story was when I saved my fleet defending our structure by dampening a dreadnought (Phoenix) in my tiny and puny maulus, reducing it's targeting range to about 10 km, which allowed my fleet to kill off the enemy.
Sorry to break it for you but I dont think a Phoenix can get down to 10km locking range. The Siege module T2 gives a 70% resist to remote sensor dampners and then your stacking penalties goes into effect as well
This is the best game trailer I've seen, by far. Them chills are totally extraordinary
one of the coolest looking frigates in the game
whats the music used in this clip? it sounds similar to disc wars on the tron soundtrack
Smart warping to a player part of your group since they have a power signature you can trace to warp to that signature.
The Battle for Caldari Prime
"I was locked out."
@horrorttx the outpost, though I couldn't figure out wether they were there to defend or to attack it
