- You have entered a universe where the path to glory is paved by one's choices. Those choices do not come without consequence, and every action taken can carry one closer to their highest goals or drag them down to unimaginable depths. EVE Online's Summer 2010 trailer, "Causality," presents a scenario where each participant's decisions lead them to their respective destinations, for better or for worse.

>get blown up in frigate
>take down entire alliance
Man this trailer goes from 0 to 100 real fucking quick.
+Galen Hollingsworth Something like this actually happened in eve, A top director form one of the huge corporations in eve did something like this and completely destroyed the corporation.
+Teck King not just a corporation, but an entire band of alliances.
+Galen Hollingsworth He didn't even steal the capital ships for personal gain. No, all he wanted to do was deprive them of their ships.
+Teck King yes, it was Band of Brothers that fell, but it was multiple inserted personnel from Goonswarm and it was a calculated move that was actually planned by Goonswarm. A bit different but no less amazing!
Galen H they did say time was on your side
The most expensive Merlin kill of all time
For a MERLIN
Maybe he had very expensive implant set
top kek
That he decided to fly with?
#MerlinLivesMatter
Hey... John Wick destroyed an entire gang over a dog... don't be too hard on it
Lose a merlin? Destroy their alliance for it!
Would do so myself.
maybe...
Isn't that a recap of the greatest EVE heist ever?
Exactly, but lest be honest it happends every single day mate
No, I think this is more of a portrayal about legendary Band of Brothers alliance being disbanded by a disgruntled director, which resulted in some hardcore consequences for the rest of EVE.
History lesson: www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/2nobkb/eli5_what_was_the_band_of_brothers_and_how_did/
Outdated information now. CO2, GigX and The Judge is the new heist.
Just got suicide ganked and lost my Retriever..........time to get to work.......
Better buy that mining permit! Or come tear down the new order with your own hands. Either are welcome!
dragoslove Death to the New Order.
spartanMN300 Well then take the second option. Just do something, don't sit on your hands and mope.
***** please note the "tear them down with your own hands" section of the comment. As for not giving them what they want, do you even understand what they want? The only outcome they would be upset about is one that increases safety in eve.
I mined long time ago flying Hulk + Orca. Of course CODE is around but i never pay permit. and never get gank. Just need to understand that Eve.. there is no safe place.. do what you need to do; know your place, know your ganker and don't be ignorant... They just do their job, you should do too...
When I first watched this video I knew it would take a special kind of asshole to play EVE. I guess at least that means I'm special.
What? Are you kidding? You are the white knight of New Eden! You deliver torpedoes to people in such a timely and ordered fashion, you sir, are truly the backbone of EVE.
tommulmul2 More importantly his deliveries are quick and well done. People enjoy the surprise delivery in worm hole space too.
+tommulmul2 I absolutely love Wingspans videos. I especially love the endings. Post delivery of course. To say he is a "White Knight"...... really?
I'm really laughing right now.
Wingspan TT, I love what you do. It's funny as hell. They really don't see the horns holding up the halo do they? lmao
An alliance was destroyed by a carebear. That's the funniest thing ever.
Satisfying to watch though
I love Eve Online. Of course, it was confusing as Hek (pun intended), but that's why I love it. It presents challenges you would normally encounter in the real world (economics, politics, military strategy, corporate management, manufacturing, research, communications, corporate theft, manipulation, market scam, etc.).
Right now, I'm an industrialist that can manufacture disposable ships that my alliance uses to go into battle against yours.
"Eve - Be as much of an ass as you can possibly be."
ehh, that can be true.
but being a complete ass from the start isn't gonna make you famous.
This guy really loved his Merlin!!!!!
I feel it appropriate to watch this just after The Judge killed CO2
EVE Online: Sociopaths in Space
*****
EVE Online Solid: Corporate Espionage Action (directed by Hideo Kojima)
the only reason you don't see sociopaths in real life is because its too dangerous to express it, in eve there are no rules, so enjoy the chaos as much as you want, because everyone else will do it
renogiza -
I agree. In real life you should view people as equals, as human beings. But in eve, it's better to see them as walking moneybags to mercilessly exploit until they are no longer of any use. (ow the edge)
Wall street: Sociopaths on Earth
Sounds about right.
"Without firing a single shot, you've brought an entire alliance to its knees" I beg to differ, you had to fire quite a few to get so trusted in the first place :P
This actually happened in EVE once. I'm so glad they made it into an ad.
Nice thing about the trailer is that it depicts live gameplay but also presents a story that is plausible. Might take a while but with enough effort and patience you'll be able to pull it off.
"Hey i'm the new guy. May i have access to your T2 bpos?"
"Oh hell'yeah, sure!"
This looks awesome. Of course most people won't have the opportunity to do this sort of thing, but the fact that you CAN without moderators stepping in to put you in time out would be a breath of fresh air after World of Warcraft's relatively highly structured setting. I'm 2 days into a trial account for EVE, but I'm thinking seriously about getting a subscription.
Hey, Band of Brothers! Check this out!
Eddie Lee lmao best 😂😂😂
don't forget Circle of Two.
Well that escalated quickly
O.o
Wow, all that over a frigate loss....
There are multiple other possibilities:
High end implants(He was podded after all), a cargo of blueprints(You use t1 frigs and starter ships to fly high end blueprints and implants because they are a low priority target), or maybe he was a psycopath, and destroying this alliance prevented him from going on a murder spree.
As was written in that pirate dude I came across (but escaped from) : "because I can" is enough of a reason to make your day miserable.
Which pretty much sums up eve online :) You actually don't need a reason for anything, you do it because you can and you want !
Max Wyght I'm pretty sure you fly interceptors to haul blueprints
cloaky ships, or heck, with T3 around just go with an anti bubble cloaky
If i was carrying high end blueprints, i probably will fly a l little corvette...
Definitely one of the best trailers CCP has ever made. One that isn't just a montage of large glorified fleet battles
Man seeing this trailer takes me back. Its like I'm a sophomore in high school again who barely has any skillpoints and doesn't know how to fit a ship to save his life...
...and now I'm 31, have 115+ million SP, and still can't fit a ship to save my life.
one of the best eve trailers ive seen, hella tight right here
2:12 WTB green Ark!
I am so happy this video came to a reality with the collapse of CO2.
Not happy for the victims and stuff, I am actually sad for them, but just goes to proof it CAN and WILL happen.
and this is why, even with r/l breaks, I'll never leave this 'verse. Its virtual r/l and that says a lot.
This has actually happened in EVE *twice* now (RIP Band of Brothers and CO2).
So they were talking about The Judge all this time!
FABR3 this video is from 2009 probably talking about the BoB heist
"The Mittani Sends His Regards"
I can't wait to get out of hospital and renew my subscription to EVE,
The best part of this trailer is that this has actually happened.
I love how this shit happends, and has happend
***** All this has happened before, and will happen again. Again. Again. Again.
Real Version: Carebear gets lured into a trap. INstead of this epic adventure that is shown he decides to....: Cry in localchat for about an hour, calls everyone a scammer, griefer, nazi, literally hitler maybe everything in one sentences, threat everyone that hes gonna quit eve, threats that he has mighty friend in null-sec, belives he can gank his attackers back, finally logs out and cries more in the forums how bad the game is... and all for a merlin!
Actually, I just hmphed, checked my balance to see when I could afford to replace any lost head gear, got into another ship and tried something else. I have heard the folks you talk about in local, though, and sent them messages explaining the game and the real chances of payback if they were smart enough to listen. Some were, some weren't, but most of us care-bears know what's out there, we just also know we don't have the interest to become pvpers. So we learn to avoid ganks as much as possible and build you guys the ships and ammo you need to keep shooting. Kinda a messed up system, but oh well. I don't enjoy Farmville, I do enjoy internet spaceships, so that's the price you pay :)
I LOVE THE EVE ONLINE TRAILERS.
13 years later, I'm still here...
Question is: has this actually happened?
Google: "Biggest Scam in eve online history" or 'GHSC infiltration incident'.
Tl;DR: Yes.
twistedf4te Was it over a lost freighter though?
If not, damn close enough.
yes it has, someone once stole 800 billion in assets, google it ..
Stuff like this does happen. Often maybe not on a big scale as this but yeah, it does happen. My corporation was a victim of it. Luckily the damage wasn't nowhere near as big as it might have been.
...Ok, this seems extremely petty. Seriously? You lost a ship, so now you're crippling an entire alliance in revenge? This is the definition of overkill.
Feste the Phule sometimes OVERKILL IS NECESSARY!!!
2:21 Whoa, not only did he destroy the notorious Drekar Alliance, he even conquered the Jovian Empire!
EVE got the Award : Best Live Game at GDC Online Awards !!
EVE ftw !
*cough* Co2 *cough*
Still one of their best videos.
so far, the best eve vid made by cccp
This is still the most goated Eve Trailer
This game is a ton of fun. Complicated but I love the risk reward aspect of it. In other games, if you die, you respawn in a safe area or go back to a checkpoint or have to sit out for a small amount of time. In EvE, dying is a huge deal. Scamming In-game is allowed making you have to watch your back all the time. It's do or die in EvE, so you better do. You owe it to yourself to try EvE, the tension and excitement of the game is amazing.
Seriously, that has to be the best sales pitch in the fucking planet. Eve online. The Universe is yours.
I wanted to say "Wow, that guy was pretty butthurt about being ganked once..." but then i remembered how many times almost this exact situation has already happened in EVE, and i remembered why i love this game.
We need more trailers with this narrator!
This one hits real close to home, eesh.
Dremux117 Imagine how B.O.B. felt when it happened to them. They went from literally one of the best alliances to clawing to stay alive in no time after that exec betrayed them.
I love this video for having been a "what if" that... you know... happened
Happend twice by now BOB and CO2
@Shadawa Well said, no ones holds our hands when we enter tranquility. Capsuleers learn by experience, we always have done . .
0:50 And THAT, my friends, is why you need weapons on all your ships. Yes, even mining ships.
I know! We need more!
2024 and beyond
I remember the greatest heist ever in EVE online involved some dude who said he had plans, got some big group to send him TONS of currency. He even made real life phone calls but from a library and convinced everyone he was legit. Got the money, had to split with his friend and was mad so he gave his half to a noob and deleted his account. Crazy.
@MrLolnut do you know where you can read up on all the up-to-date player wars? I havvnt seen much, most on the Eve wiki only point to popular one.
It can be found in the wikipedia page, "One infamous example was a corporate infiltration and heist where one corporation infiltrated a target corporation over the course of nearly a year. They then performed a virtual assassination on the target's CEO and proceeded to steal corporate property to which they had gained access. The target corporation lost billions of ISK..." Major events such as these happen in EVE from time to time, such as Burn Jita and Hulkaggedon which happened very recently.
Yes, but each event is different. It's not ONLY about spies stealing stuff from big alliances, a lot of other stuff happens too. Eve is a game about interaction, so you'll only ever get to see or take part in this kind of stuff if you take charge and start meeting people.
this was their best trailer
@HapitokP Correction, Band of Brothers on Feb. 5 2008.
yay for advertising something that only ever happened once as a game feature everyone should try to experience
I love my rifter. I still remember my first rifter loss and I still remember the b-tard who did it. He is also a Tengu pilot with 100MN AB. There isn't a time I am not reminded of that guy.
@Megatrousers life imitates art, art imitates life
Damn that guy really loved his merlin o.o
@Neezma
It's not only plausible, it's happened on a scale as massive and deep as the one shown. And it takes a long time to prep. Few have the patience for that.
@Alloftheanwsers Theres a button for it on the station panel (the bit on the right) i
@MetalliacFeather it depends: I would personally run it in an interceptor or a Covert Ops ship, because they have really fast align times, and are either fast enough to outrun almost any enemies, or just sneak on by em. Anything larger than a Cruiser is a sitting duck in low-sec.
@white0devil0 that's why he said, " time is on ur side to settle scores" , which means there's no rush.
Omg this is so true. Just recently BNI (Brave Newbies Inc.) was betrayed by one of their top men. The guy left and took 50 Billion isk with him. He then went to BNI's enemies, PL (Pandemic Legion).
50 billones? En Goons eso es un sencillo
The best part of this trailer is that it is based on a true story
It's not the people who says 'Revenge' every time you take something of theirs. It's the people who don't. People like that is probably smart enough to cover their tracks.
Confirmed for Evil Thug. May the universe have mercy on us all.
As a 6 year veteran pilot, I can tell you one thing..
Yes, yes it does.
love the trailer, i also think the music is rather cool... Does anyone knows who did this music ?
@warhawk9566 It's hard to explain it. It's an open-world, sandbox MMO where you control a ship. Movement is done through the interface. Most of the features within the game is player-driven.
This video kinda shows you the consequences/benefits of your actions.
The best part is this was based off a true story
Yes, this happened to the Band of Brothers alliance. I believe you can find more information somewhere.
I played this on a trial account last year, and it was pretty fun, if I had the time on my hands I would have upgraded to the full version.
Eve is a game that is not for everyone. It is a game of tears. It is a game of grief. It is a game where the only person you can trust is yourself. The battles are epic, the strategy intricate. There are spies, and there is counter-intelligence. In a matter of seconds you can destroy the last month, year, or several years of someone's gameplay. Some complain its too brutal. Some whine about their losses. But its the brutality that makes it worth playing.
I wouldn't want it any other way.
it HAS before, yes, this is pretty much based on a true story of 1 person that completely ripped apart the biggest alliance at the time, stuff of legends
Still think this is the best of the trailers
I love it, it gives me time to do stuff in real life unlike grinding in other games
Losing Merlins make people unbelievable bitter. GOD DAMN MERLINS
@R4Akai if you watch the video it shows it 1/2 way into armor with 3/4 shields then it shows it 3/4 armor 1/2 hull and 1/3 shields meaning it was repped somewhat
With love, care and awesomeness.
I play both EVE and WoW (EVE for grinding needs... you know, when you get itchy to grind something badly). Just did THIS with one of the guilds on my server, with new "take over guild if GM is not present" feature... That felt awesome... i felt like a douchebag, yet i was happy, because they PAYED for their mistakes.
Would GLADLY do this in EVE.
When i downloaded it in the ps store it was beta version. so if i download it now is it still free and the latest version?
That infiltrator must have been laughing maniacly for weeks after that heist.
Im reminded of when i first moved to null sec. I took everything i owned with me and was on my way to join some dudes startin a corp. i wasnt an offical member yet so their alliance didnt know i was friendly. i end up losing all my stuff and sitting there in shock at what just happend. good times
Who cares if it could take 4 years to pull this off, It is possible and an awesome promo trailer I Love it ! Watch out RITES ! lol
@warhawk9566
It's a group strategy game. The game is a strategy game yes, but there's so much to do as the game is real time, controlling more than one ship wouldn't work. That said many ships have drones, which means if you're in anything larger than a cruiser that isn't a specialised ship, you've also got drones to move around too. Ships have weapons, ECM, movement, sheilds etc. to control. There's a lot to running one ship, this isn't a WSAD flying sim.
The odds of actually pulling this off are beyond any calculable odds...
This trailer totally got me to resub to Eve lol. I also really like the Drekar Alliance logo.
EVE's true strength is also its greatest weakness. For every hardcore player there is hundreds, THOUSANDS, maybe even millions of ppl who see this as just too much to be fun. And it turns them off. Joe average, working a 9-5 job wants to come home, have 2 hours to play his fav mmo, feel like he is progressing or doing good and then go back to playing with his kids, meeting his mates etc.
EVE demands much more and so...
It's why I love games like this.
Love watching these vids as mine on eve
I guess that guy really loved his Merlin.
@LeshracColdeyes It's been done quite a bit. Usually multiple years, but for a simple corp infiltration it only takes 2 months or so usually.
Nobody knows what is the name of background track\tracks? And where can i get it? :D
@prestb
no more like titan parts,or experimental electronic warfare equipment, but what you said is worth takin too
