Wild Adventures Retiring Cheetah | Is it Being Turned into an RMC Hybrid?

  • Cheetah is the lone custom coaster at Wild Adventures. This Custom Coasters International wood coaster was built in 2001, but it was closed in 2020 due to social distancing concerns. The thought was that the coaster would reopen in 2021, but those who have messaged the park have been told the ride will be retired to make way for future additions. Could that mean an RMC hybrid?

    Cheetah was literally jackhammer the ride. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t think great American scream machine is that rough and is honestly my 3 favorite coaster in Georgia. Cheetah had some great airtime and laterals but man! Those helixes jack hammered the whole time. I liked the ride but even I gotta say that thing was rough. The slc next door also isn’t that bad at all. It was the old restraints but their nicely cushioned. Honestly if your driving from sfog to Orlando/Tampa, wild adventure is definitely worth stopping by. The people there are super friendly. I even had guest randomly wave and say hi to me. The rides never really stood out other than cheetah but it’s a nice park and worth the 6 credits. I would stay away from the animals cause they clearly aren’t treated as well as the animals at a sea world park.

    I had no idea that it didn't run in 2020. That covid excuse is most likely not true. I was there in March 2019. There's no doubt that it was a rough ride, but despite that, it was my favorite in the park, even over the glossy smooth Twisted Typhoon, my favorite SLC. The Vekomas at this park surprisingly ran amazing! But the rough Cheetah was still my favorite, because the airtime was that good. I talked plenty with one of the ride ops, who praised how smooth Vekomas are, obviously basing that on his own park. I mentioned to him that if GCI could smooth out Cheetah, it would be so amazing. He then told me that they had been in talks with GCI about that. But, if it were just getting a GhostRider treatment, I don't think they would be saying it's being retired. Obviously, I would love it to be an RMC.

    @Wesley-76 Před 3 lety +1

    Hey, someone noticed this! I've been here 4 times in 2019, and it was a fun park. Cheetah, however, was very rough. The train jolted up and down on its few airtime hills, taking away said airtime and slowing the ride down. The helices caused the train to shake from side to side, also an unpleasant experience. I got one ride that was fairly decent, which is the only reason why it's not dead last in my ranked list of the park's coasters. I really hope they convert it into an RMC. That would be great on many different levels!
    Also, I'd like to point out that I like their Vekoma SLC, Twisted Typhoon. While it has cushions next to your head, they are soft and take away any pain from headbanging. I also didn't get much said headbanging, and the ride was smooth, fast, and fun. I don't know if other SLC's are like this, but enthusiasts give them lots of hate, which leads me to believe that the trains (or features of the trains) are different from the ones that get hate (mostly the Mind Erasers, Kong, and T3). Or maybe I'm just weird and don't find this ride bad at all, but my dad, brother, and 3 friends of mine have all rode it and all like it (and they're of varying heights too). Let me know what your thoughts are on Twisted Typhoon, mainly if you can testify and say that it isn't like the other SLC hated upon.

It isn't terrible but Flying Cobra's at Carowinds had a better ride experience, and they are the same ride. I agree with your comments about Cheetah 100%. I can't take its punishment.

      @@pdk25 Ah gotcha. Yes B&M inverts are certainly better, but Twisted Typhoon was still fun. I've heard that one called Green Lantern got new restraints with no headbanging, so hopefully the other SLC's will get them too, at least the parks that want to keep them. I thought Boomerang was smooth too, but maybe Flying Cobras is better, or I got good rides, it all depends. UPDATE ON CHEETAH:
    It is gone. They took it down. I had the privilege of riding it a few times over the past years. My family traditionally gets season passes. I must admit the last three times I rode Cheetah were done somewhat reluctantly because it would beat the stuffing out of you. Very fast and fun, but it really got too rough and the complaints began to get stacked.
    There are still the steel coasters (Twisted Typhoon and Boomerang), but they are generic and short.
    The Cheetah space is now closed off in mystery and the park has been redone around it. The train that used to go through the animal enclosures and through the Cheetah's structure is even shortened to steer away.
    Hopefully something good will show up. They already kind of ruined the Halloween Horror Nights.

    If they RMC Cheetah, Georgia will have 3 RMCs. I don't think that market saturation is the problem as everyone is excited for Aerie Force One. Also this ride has a very similar layout to Aerie Firce One. The biggest variable is Herschend. Are they planning on selling the park or holding onto it and making money? I've never been but it appears that the park might be at a point similar to Worlds of Fun where coasters don't increase ticket sales.

    I like your optimism, but it really feels like they're looking to sell the park off, and spend as little on upkeep in the process. Closing two major coasters without announcing any kind of substantial replacement is a bad sign. HFE hasn't invested in this park, like the other parks... and much like Darien Lake, I think we would need to see a change in ownership before things turn around.
    The only other major coasters are an SLC and a Boomerang, and neither are in great condition. It's far easier to picture the park selling off their two Vekomas/larger flats, and focusing on other areas of the property, like the Zoo exhibits, kiddie rides, and the water park. Even with a single RMC conversion, it may not really justify the ticket price versus SFOG or the Orlando parks, which may doom the place long term.
