The very best way to drink rootbeer is to put a mug into the freezer and let it get all frosty. Pour ice cold rootbeer into the mug and enjoy
I love root beer! Nobody drinks it warm. You need to get it really cold...it is so refreshing! Add vanilla ice cream for an awesome float.

I'm from PA and take my snacking very serious 😂 Snyder's pretzel thin sticks and wise sour cream and onion are my kids favorite. You haven't lived until you've had Herr's salt and vinegar, Wise honey BBQ. The ginger snaps work amazing for stomach bugs.

I live in the South and haven't had Wise chips in awhile, but this video made me want the Sour Cream and Onion immediately.
I love root beer and birch beer. Birch beer is an eastern u.s. drink. I fell in love with birch beer when I lived in New England but the birch beer in New England is clear.
birch beer is made from birch tree bark. root beer has many different herbs in it like licorice

I'm Spartacus, and I really like root beer! Especially with bits of sassafras in -- ie: not artificially flavored. Even better as a float (over vanilla ice cream).
Entenmann's originated in Brooklyn. They were based on Long Island for many years. Growing up, Wise were my go-to savory snacks.
loving the way the person sends this package of sweets with a map included ! this is a great way to learn more about the origins & history of each snack & its a great way to encourage you two to make a "Snack/Yummy Trip" together & visit all the places where the snacks were found ( including the Hersey's amusment park as well ) !!

Hi Alex and Kate, the Snyder’s pretzels you tried were both sourdough. One was just salted and the others were flavored with mustard and onion. A lot of people in the US dip the salted pretzels in mustard.

Went to Hershey Pa and stayed at the Day's Inn hotel and the hotel pumps chocolate fragrance through the ventilation and are hotel room smelled like chocolate the whole night. You would think you would get sick of it, but it was quite nice. Woke up next morning, 5 pounds heavier, without eating a thing. Just kidding on that part. But really enjoyed the visit and loved visiting Chocolate World.

I didn’t like root beer until I had my mother in law’s homemade brew. She’d save the potato water (from boiling potatoes) and used the A&W extract and add some yeast. I’m sure you know Kate that the combination of the starch from the potato water and the yeast produced an “explosive” root beer. She used to bottle her root beer and sometimes you could hear the bottles exploding in the basement😂. We also felt that the longer the bottles sat there, there might have been a bit of “fermentation” that could give you a pretty good little buzz😉

Make sure you frost the glasses in the freezer. I think RootBeer is better really cold. If it gets warm it just becomes super sweet and flat.
Some "natural" root beers taste like wintergreen mint flavor. I like the vanilla brewed root beers.

I love root beer. A&W, Barqs and IBC. But my favorite is made by a local place where I live, in Wichita, KS called NuWay. They're famous for their crumbly burger.
I love the dill pickle Utz there absolutely amazing and the buffalo pretzel pieces as well.
I also grew up on grandma utz handcooked chips! Yum!
In North America, there's no catch-all rule for how to pronounce "Reading" as a name. Sometimes it's "redding", sometimes it's "reeding", it depends on the context and the origin. Growing up, I always heard "Reading Railroad" from Monopoly as "reeding", but I wouldn't be surprised if other families said "redding". I don't actually know which is considered canon.

So glad that you got to try so many PA snacks. We live near the Herr’s factory and you can take a tour and try warm chips, right off the assembly line. I grew up in Philly, and Tom Sturgis regular pretzels are my favorite.

I grew up in the Mormon church, when I was little there was no drinking any soda with Caffeine, so we would always have Rootbeer ... and I LOVE it, it is sweet and yummy, then I got a little older and wiser and fell in love with Birch Beer, it's spicy and delicious and my whole family loves Birch Beer, it's definitely an East Coast thing, and harder to find in Southern California. I've been to Hershey Park .. it's a fun little place and you can tour the factory, but like you I've had the Wilbur Buds as well and prefer them to Hershey. Thanks for sharing your box adventure with us, it was fun.

From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania here. Some of these I've never heard of but definitely love Utz (which wasn't sold in Pittsburgh until a few years ago) and Snyder.
It's definitely called Reading (like Red-ing).

Those ginger snaps are perfect for dipping. My friend makes a dip for ginger snaps that is amazing. I live in Texas about an hour from the Louisiana boarder. To get to the furthest part in West Texas it takes almost 11 hours. I’m glad things are closer in Pennsylvania. I love root beer. I love a&w brand

We only had it as a kid as a rootbeer float. It was a special treat that my dad would buy the rootbeer at A and W and then he would make the floats. Mom never liked rootbeer either and would have a coke float. I only drink it on rare occasions. I have to be in the mood.
