Lindt acquired Russell Stover and Whitman's in 2014. Russell Stover has boxed chocolates as well. But Whitman's sampler box (that's what their large assorted box is called) has been around for over a century. Probably still the number one sold chocolate box sold in the US. *I used to work retail; stocked candy and food. Was given little magazines with info in them about how our store selected items and prepared for holidays.I have all this knowledge without an outlet.* 😂

But if you just chew right in it can definitely hurt your mouth. Lemonheads are a Classic as well. Both are better sucked on like a Jolly Rancher. Hope this helps next time you experience them. SweetTarts are available all year round. Hostess and Little Debbie are available all over the country. I've been to all four corners and everywhere in between, and I've seen both pretty much everywhere I've been to. I say Y'all, and I'm from Michigan... but I'm an odd one. But I don't say it all the time like people from the south do. lol There's a Russell Stover store here in Michigan, where you can buy boxes and boxes of rejects for WAAAY less than it would cost retail - and there's nothing wrong with them, they're just ugly. You can also buy the individual packaged holiday chocolates when they're out of season for like 15c - they're still good (and good for a good year after the date). So if you're ever in Michigan, head down to Dundee (by Toledo) to the Russell Stover store.

Hey Kate and Alex! Yayy!!! Another taste testing American candy! I agree with Alex it’s surprising there is still candy you haven’t tasted from the US. I love lemonheads! I would get those when I was a kid. Now they make apple, grape and cherry ones. I really love the corn nuts too! It’s like canchas from my moms country Perú. Also a favorite from my childhood. Those Russell Stovers are soooo delicious and they do make a box like Whitman’s does as well. Little Debbies and Hostess can be found everywhere. I grew up eating the Swiss rolls cuz it was my dads favorite and he would take one packet to work everyday. I like the orange cupcakes from hostess as well. I also love Fritos! Original is my favorite and than the honey barbecue one is second favorite type of Fritos. I’m pretty sure there’s prob more things you haven’t tasted. Which is insane! Love these videos! Hi, kids!!! Y’all are so cute!! Yes, I as born & raised in the south in the U.S. In fact, I’m a “GRITS”..Girl Raised In The South (another “southern thang”)!!! Anyway...just a few clarifications from me. Little Debbie: you could probably fill a HUGE box of nothing but various Little Debbie’s & not repeat any. In the U.S., Little Debbie is the “snack cake” of choice, although “she” also makes a few things that aren’t really “cakes”. Two I can think of right off hand are the Peanut Butter Bar (crispy wafers spread with peanut butter & covered in chocolate) & Star Crunch (a round cake-like snack with chewy caramel with crispy rice & covered in chocolate...noticing a pattern here?)!! Little Debbie has been around since I can remember...& I’m almost 65 years old. Now, for Whitman’s Sampler...I remember this from childhood. This is the box of candy that Moms would buy & hide from the kids, bringing it out only during special times. This created such turmoil for the kids because we could have ONLY ONE PIECE!!}. So it took until bedtime for the kids to decide which piece...was it the “chocolate-peanut butter crunch” or maybe the “chocolate-chocolate caramel”??? Anyway, the Whitman’s Sampler usually came in 3-4 sizes...the tiny 3 or 4-piece box, the half pound box, the 1-pound box, & the HUGE 2-pound box...with each & every piece marked (on the inside top of the box & sometimes with an extra sheet included for the big boxes) so you would be assured of getting the piece you want...& you were never disappointed!!! Ok...so I guess this is all you didn’t want to know about Little Debbie’s, the Whitman’s Sampler, & the word “y’all”! Just one more thing...when Alex refers to the current generation as “kids”, it just cracks me up (that’s an Americanism for “makes me really laugh)!!! How old is Alex, 25-26??? And Kate, you can’t be any more than 23 or 24...right?? Anyway...I love watching your comments & opinions of American snacks...you both are just so cute!!! God bless America...& long live the Queen!!!

A difference between Fritos and tortilla chips is that the corn for tortillas is treated with an alkaline substance, often lime (the mineral, not the fruit). This gives it a different flavor, and also frees up the niacin in the corn, making it more nutritious. Corn for tamales gets the same treatment. The corn used in Fritos doesn't get the alkaline treatment, so the flavor is just that of ground corn.
BTW, fritos are great with chili con carne. You don't even need a bowl - just cut open the side of the bag and pour in some chili.
