Greetings Kate and Alex from the South Side Girls! We absolutely loved the video and are pleased you enjoyed the package! You are so right, Liz is a an absolute Hoot and fun to be around. How about you surprise us? Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! --- Liz, Bev, Karen and Nan
Kate, I forgot to mention that Nan is the one who commented that I'm a hoot and fun to be with. I didn't write that about myself. Oh, and the rib roast dinner we ate before watching your video was lovely. Lol
Hey Girls!! I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed this video! Can't say thank you enough for this awesome box. I bet! You all sound like great fun to be around. Yes I would love to. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year too! ❤️
@@emsparamedic5183 Haha no worries. I did guess it was one of the others who wrote that about you 😂 Glad you enjoyed your roast! You will have to send me a picture of you all one time so I put a face to the names 😀
I’m from St. Louis too!
Kate, we will absolutely take a picture and send it to you. I will be the very shortest one of the bunch. Story of my life! Lol
What I'm finding so fascinating with your videos is how different the regional products are in various parts of the USA. I haven't seen many of these items as I live in California
It's amazing isn't we never knew there would be so many different products we could try! 😀 - Alex
So am I from Southern California and there are some things they had in that box, I never of. I have good friends living in Pennsylvania, I should visit my friends because they actually live close to Amish country and my friends don’t even know each other they don’t know (I should tell them) they both have relatives in the same city I live in. I like to buy locally made chocolates or candies or any kinds of specialty foods around California that you can’t find in a grocery store chain. Or I go to World Market and buy the chocolates from Germany or the UK!
How great is that. Liz and the Southside girls did a terrific job of representing the best of the USA. Happy Christmas.
They really did! They're awesome! - Alex
Apple butter on toast 😋
😋😋 need to try this
Apple butter on warm corn muffins or warm American biscuits. Yum. Used instead of butter or use both if you want.
Our.somewhat equivalent to a crumpet is called an "English muffin" here.
Although, if memory serves, crumpets are softer.
English muffins are eaten toasted at breakfast (in fact, are fairly inedible "raw") topped with butter and/or jam.
English muffins have a very different rubbery texture and taste than the flaky biscuits, which are buttered (or covered with gravy in the South), and usually eaten with dinner.
Apple butter and peanut butter sandwiches. Mmmmmm
Apple butter is also good on cottage cheese. If you come to the US to visit, you should go to Kitxhen Kettle in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. When they make apple butter, you can smell it for miles.
Worth it just to see Alex in the elf hat. My son is also "an Alex." You two are appreciative and respectful whether you like your treats or not. My favorite British young duo to tune into for "unboxing" and"trying snacks."
Haha. Ah no way! I love the name Alex! That’s very kind of you to say thank you. We really do try our best to be respectful ♥️
Tell Alex I said 'Hi!' - Alex
Lovely video. And 55 years of friendship is so lovely
Thank you, Liz and Southside girls!! My best friend and I have been close for 60 years it is a joy!!
♥️♥️ That’s amazing. You are so lucky to have that friendship. I hope I can have that!
Sixlets remind me of my older sister, they were her favorite candy when we were younger. Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family.
Love when things have memories attached to them ♥️ Merry Christmas to you and your family too!
Hey kids excellent video! Amish anything is wonderful! You both look so great! A little story about the Cardinals .... my Dad many many years ago was a local baseball pitcher and a really good one so they say...anyway je lived in Vermillion South Dakota and the St. Louis Cardinals was very far away but he got a chance to try out for them and he made the team!! 3 days before his 1st time playing with them his father who was a farmer got very ill and my Dad had to return home to farm, but he said he never regretted it. He was a lifelong baseball fan tho!!
Hey Madonna! We loved all of the Amish things we received. Oh wow. That’s amazing he made the team!! What an incredible achievement. I’m glad he never regretted it though! Family is the best ♥️
Ice Cubes go back to when I sold them in parent's store that was in the 60's oh my, memories, sounds divine!!
Amazing they are still around. A classic 👌🏻
Ice Cubes could be bought individually -- like penny candy -- although a more sophisticated tasting chocolate than most "penny candy."
Liz is the real MVP! ☺️
She’s amazing isn’t she!
OMG! Yes apple butter goes on everything in my house. I put it on toast, ice cream, and I'll use it in place of jam/jellies. Even great as filling to mix with cinnamon in a home made cinnamon roll.
Mmm on ice cream 😍 so many great ideas thank you.
InTheKitchenWithKate you're very welcome. 😊
Hahaha! "I'm normal. You're mental." That was a great statement by Alex! (That's like something I'd say to a great friend, or my sister(s)!) I'm from the St. Louis area, just on further north-east, on the Illinois side. You should take your show on the road - there's so much to do in St. Louis, Missouri, that are totally FREE! The St. Louis Zoo is one of the Best in the U.S. There's the Basilica Cathedral (with the largest glass mosaics in the world, outside of Russia), the St. Louis Arch (the Gateway to the West) There's great food here, too, that St. Louis is famous for: toasted ravioli, in Little Italy, at Anthonio's Taverna; BBQ - smoked ribs with BBQ sauces; St. Louis-style pizza, etc. Anyway, I think you should do this as a travel-vlog for a Mid-America food trip! P.S. I, too, am a big Welch's fan - and it's not just for little kids. It's for big kids, too!! :-)
Haha 😂😂 ah no way. That’s awesome. We definitely want to take this show on the road one day!! That would just be so awesome. Oh wow. St. Louis sounds amazing 😍 hopefully one day we can visit! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
They are amazing aren’t they! Glad you’re a big fan of Welch’s too!
@@ThisWithThem That truly would be so very awesome! One day - soon, we can hope. YES, Welch's is one of the best in sweets/candies.
@@Quarton Glad you think so too! SO good arent they!!
Don't encourage people to eat that garbage pizza ... we want them to come back 😏
My mom used to get together with her sisters, and they'd cook in a big kettle over a fire outdoors, boiling it down, then adding cinnamon, and a few other spices. You nailed it about it being spreadable, for toast, crumpets. scones, etc. You're getting a sampler of a good variety of "-butters". My favorite is apple butter. but they're ALL good!! Thank you, Liz, (and all of the South-Side Ladies) for providing us all with the fun of seeing you two discover many of the candies from "home" (U.S.) in the U.K.
That’s so lovely!! I bet theirs tasted amazing. I’m excited to try these all! So glad you enjoyed us opening this box 😀
@@ThisWithThem I don't know if it was included but my all time favorite "butter" is pear butter. If it wasn't included I would highly recommend finding some. Delicious.
Thumbs up for Alex.💟
60 years old! It's awesome that someone of her age is engaged in these videos and getting involved.
When I heard the "Southside" I didn't think they meant MY Southside! How cool!!! I also live on the Southside of Saint Louis, so this video made me excited. Yay :)
Glad you enjoyed the treats.
Yeah, fruit butters are just a variation on jam. Usually the difference is that jam/jelly is made with fruit juice only and pectin, while fruit butters are made with the whole fruit. Apple butter is absolutely the most common/popular one. I've never seen cherry butter, peach butter. Looks delicious though. you're right, most of the time put on toast, but putting on pancakes or waffles is also a great idea. Putting on crackers would be less common.
Ahhh I see. Thank you for explaining that to us. You should try find some of those other flavours and try them 😀
I love putting apple butter on toast, with butter. Or biscuits (scones). It's amazing.
Mmm
You kids are so cute. No wonder Moms from all over want to send you sweets. Have a very blessed Christmas.
Apple butter on toast is amazing
Yes I agree
Yes!!! Need to try that!
That was a great box and I’m proud to say I too am from St. Louis!! The girls did me proud!
They really did we loved it so much! 😀 - Alex
I've watched a few of your videos over the last few months, but have just become a subscriber. I loved how sweet and respectful you are with one another. Funny, but, when I first started watching, I thought you were a young couple. I didn't realize you are brother and sister until later.
Cheers!
My grandmother always buys us an ornament every year that signifies something that happens that year in our lives. From our first Christmas as babies, to graduation from high school or college, marriage, etc. The idea is that when we move out on our own we will have ornaments for our own trees and have all those memories every time we decorate it. Merry Christmas you guys! Love the hat!
I get an ornament made every year with all of my children, husband and dogs name . we do a white tree with a lot of pink and gold glitter lol
Love that!! Yours sounds really pretty 😍
@@ThisWithThem thank you so much keep giving us great content! Love you guys!
Way to represent STL!!!! From one St. Louisian to the next I loved it! ❤️
Same I'm from St Louis
Having deep family ties to St. Louis, the nostalgic treats are such a reminder of my Midwestern childhood. The Southside Girls (my favorite aunt lived on the Southside for many years) sent you some awesome choices! Y’all are so lucky!
Put regular oreos(the tiny ones in chocolate chip cookie dough and bake. Trust me Alex u will love it!
Oh wow!!!
Did anyone hear him say"Amazballs" at 4:34?? Or is that just me
Haha nope. He said it 🤣🤣
Yes he did and it is now my new saying!! HAHAHA
Hailey W I say it all the time lmao
Yeah he did
Giuliana Rancic from 'E' channel, coined the phrase "Amazeballs" decades ago!
Omg. I love sixlets childhood favorite
😀😀
My tree has ornaments from my travels, plus some vintage like Shiny Brite, and some collectible Christopher Radko.
A lot of ours are from travels too. So nice to look back at them aren’t they!! Oh wow. Amazing. I bet your tree looks lovely!
The flying saucers were one of the treats I brought home from England for my family to try because I've never seen those here in America.
Watching this video actually brought a tear to my eye. Both of you, Kate & Alex, are so lovely to watch. You’re both so down to earth and funny, that I cannot help but smile every time I watch another of your videos. Those Southside Ladies are so sweet. I can tell they absolutely adore you. Happy Christmas from Tamara in San Diego, California
I LOVE THAT HAT!!!!! Kate I'm so happy you've made Alex more festive lol
Yaay haha no worries. Glad you like it 😀
Me too even if I wasn't sure at first! haha - Alex
Haha! Alex eating those Pringles with the wrist flip...
”much too good for children” “everything reminds you of much too good for children” that was too cute lol! #LovedIt
Hahaha 😆 he was loving those. Hehe I love that quote from Matilda 😂
So glad you loved it!
I didn't realise how awkward that looked till I watched it back! But they were so good! - Alex
I'm from St. Louis (I now live in Mississippi) and you will not find a better group of folks than the ones who live on the South Side. The are amazing people! I moved to that area as an adult and was welcomed like and old friend. I love seeing all the goodies from home.
We put the butters on our biscuits, English muffins etc.
Thank you
Growing up, even now at 26, my parents always put a Pez into my stocking. Along with a tooth brush, small travel tooth paste, and lottery scratch offs.
Also apple butter is best served warm and spread on a southern style biscuit with butter! It's my favorite! I would always love to eat it on my Oma's German pancakes!!
Ah I love that!!! Love family traditions. Those are all such great ideas!
Mmm sounds amazing. Thanks for the tip!
I think your parents are trying to tell you something... lol
I always got a new toothbrush in my stocking too and scratch off lottery tickets!
I love Welch's too! They're so good. I buy the box of mini packs and throw them in when I pack my lunch.
What a great idea. Wish we could get them here!
I am from St.Louis and live on the Southside. This was so fun to watch. Love love love Billy Goat chips!
I buy my son and hubby an ornament every year. My son is 16 and I have been married 25 years. So we have quite the collection of sentimental ornaments. Every year i get an ornament with purpose. Like last year my son started drivers education and that was a huge milestone. So i found a drivers license ornament. It is fun to hunt for special ones each year. Merry Christmas to both of you!
That’s awesome. Yeah your tree must be pretty busy! 😆 What a great tradition. Ahh that’s so cool. Love that. Yeah I bet it’s so fun. I might have to start that one day when I have a family of my own ☺️
Merry Christmas to you too 🎄❤️
We have this same tradition. However I have 5 boyz so after that long I am gonna need like 3 trees Hahahaha. No hubby anymore though.
I loooove sixlets! They were definitely a childhood favorite but I sometimes still get them because they’re so good! I think that the candy shell and the chocolate is a perfect ratio!
I love you guys so much!!!! Watching with my daughter we love your videos
So lovely to hear you’re watching with your daughter. I hope you are both enjoying it ☺️
What an absolutely amazing box ! Liz and the south side girls , thanks for sending them such a wonderfully done box. 👏. I really enjoyed watching this and the looks on both your faces. 😊. Christmas is the time for giving and Liz and the south side girls did a great job. Happy Christmas 🎄🎁❄️💕
They are so lovely aren’t they. Far too kind to us. So pleased you enjoyed this box and our video 😀 they really did. Thank you for acknowledging them too ♥️ Merry Christmas to you too 🎄🎅🏻♥️
InTheKitchenWithKate - I’m amazed at how sweet and thoughtful they have been. Lovelies 💕. I added another comment on how you can use the butters. I’m going to be late sending a box. But it will get there lol. So sorry I’m behind mailing it. 😊
This was sooooo adorable I loved this video!
Also Kate...the whelch's snacks are that small because they would come in a box of probably 10. It makes them easy to put in lunch boxes.
I see. Thank you for explaining. Wish we got those handy packs here in the Uk!
Pecan Delight is the best❣️❣️❣️
Great box x
Really great box 👌🏻 x
This is one of your best videos. I love Christmas
Oh... yes. Toast, crumpets, scones! Put the fruit butter on all the things! Yes! Waffles... pancakes, crepes... eggy bread- french toast here.
It's cooked down longer than a jam or jelly, making it thicker and a 'butter'.
My 3 year old really enjoyed watching this video with me ❤️ I think she wishes she was taste testing with you lol. I think this was my favorite unboxing.
That’s so lovely to hear. Aww bless her. ♥️ I’m so glad she loved it and I’m so glad you loved it too 😀
OmG...that hat and sweater...I Love em!! You both are so fun to watch! Happy Holidays!💜💜
Yaay glad you loved them. I had so much fun picking them out haha 😆 thank you Kristine. So glad you enjoy watching. Happy holidays to you too ♥️
What sweet gifts!
That was so sweet of the Southside Girls!
They’re so lovely!
I love your channel so much
Thank you ♥️♥️
You can put apple butter and those types of spreads into oatmeal. Swirl it in and it's delicious.
Sorry.....in a bowl of porridge.
Oh wow!! Great idea. Thank you 😍
Ooooh, I never thought of trying it in oatmeal! That sounds so good!
I've never tried it in oatmeal, I'll have to give that a test.Thanks.
I really love these videos and your channel, they are so enjoyable to watch. Keep up the fantastic work!
I love you guys! Love watching your videos and learning about different cultures! Have a great holiday!
Best type of vidoes 😍

Hi Kate and Alex😊😊love you guys❤❤❤
Hey Cindy!! ♥️ I hope you enjoyed this video 😀
@@ThisWithThem yes I did you guys are awesome😊😊😊
It's cool to watch something like this where the sender also lives in st Louis like me. Also every year my family goes to an apple butter festival in kimswick mo. I like it with with normal butter on toast
Also I love that she included her ticket and the jersey
Yay glad you enjoyed it! Must be a cooler experience when the box is from the same state as you! Oh wow. That’s so cool.
Me too. Such a nice jersey and ticket
Aiden, I got all of those butter and jam spreads at the Apple Butter Festival in Kimmswick this past October. You were spot on.
I used to work in the bakery as a pie baker at the blue owl In Kimmswick. I am also from the St. Louis area. Small world.I currently live about 30 minutes south of St. Louis.
@@treemarie213100 I loved it when I went to the Blue Owl! The pies were fantastic! I live in South StL County.
Great video!!!
wow what sweet and thoughtful ladies. that was an epic box. super cool!! love you guys
Russell Stover makes the BEST sugar free chocolates. I will be making a box of sugar free candy for you guys in February and will be sending a ton of their sugar free flavors over. The best thing about them is they are made with Stevia and not Isomalt, so they don't make you sick if you over indulge!
I actually saw a lot of their sugar free chocolate when I visited New York! Never tried any though. Ah no way!! That would be awesome. Thank you so much. Oh cool. I hate that sick feeling
Lady Aphelion I have been meaning to try these! I have issues digesting sugar now. I love these videos but I get quite jealous watching them eat candy, lol. I do miss my British candy.
I tried the ones that are sugar-free and they made me sick is the one with stevia better?Still be carful!!
Ikr?I love their Coconut Creme chocolates! :)
When I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes but my craving was sweets..I HAD to have sweets. My boyfriend used to bring me Russell stovers sugar free chocolates. So good
The butters are great spread on toast
👌🏻👌🏻 definitely going to give that a go! Thank you 😊
You guys are just so wholesome and sweet, I love watching your videos!
Amazing box! I love that there were unique and local items included.
Yay I was beyond bored and here ya come to save the day!😘🤗😘
Yaaay! I hope you enjoy watching 😀😀

Oh cool! Thanks William
First video out of the 16 new ones in my subscription inbox.... LOVE THESE VIDS!!!
I so want to see the popcorn in action! It looked awesome ♥️
I've never seen Sixlets torn open. You stick the package in your mouth, bite down in between them with your teeth, and then pull down. This causes one to burst through the end of the pack and pops it into your mouth. I think doing it this way makes them taste better 😉
Great idea!! Wish i did that now. Thanks for the tip 😀
Yesss I always do that
That's the way we did it as kids down south.
I loved these as a kid. I always pronounced it six lets
Fact.
Normal Oreos are the best
😀
InTheKitchenWithKate you are my role model
Loved loved loved this video!!!!! Great job
Yay thank you Deb
My mother used to make apple butter and pear butter. She would always put a cinnamon stick in each jar. We would spread them on pancakes and they were sooooo good. Thanks for bringing back memories from over 50 years ago.
Kate you’re going to need a larger hand bag 😂
Hahaha I know right 😂😂 I’m going to need to wheel a mini suitcase around 😂
Someone send them a box of Sees candy.
Mmm yet to try Sees candy!
@@ThisWithThem See's range from old fashioned candies like Molasses chips to more modern chocolate truffles.
(I'd skip the Molasses in assortments, if I were you, but mostly their chocolates are delicious and hand made with top grade ingredients.)
Nuts and Chews (caramels) are a good assortment, as are truffle boxes.
Sees is the BEST!!
@@bibliophile1319 You can order it online. You can also search for their various seasonal locations. We have a local one here in Northern Alabama that is open during the Christmas season.
eh Sees are a bit bland. Albanese candy is so much better.
Oh my goodness! Flying saucers are my absolute favourite lollie/sweet ever 😍
Great video. So lucky!! Lots of great local stuff and different candy/chocolates
Fun fact : the billy goat hand made chips are ONLY $1.00 !!
No way!!

Hi, sweet adorable Kate. I bet you had fun trying a huge assortment of our Christmas treats from America. What's your honest opinion on caramel cookies? Have a good day, sweet adorable Kate. I love you, cutie pie.
Hey Byron!! We really did. Such a great laugh too! I LOVE caramel cookies. Hope you have a good day too!
Wow what a great box. The Southside ladies did a great job. The Christmas presents were perfect. Another great video.
You guys are Awesome!!

Wow! Great gifts!😂😂💯⛄❄🎄
Apple butter is something my church made as a fun raiser in the fall of the year. It was cook in a Cooper kettle outside over a fire all day. Then it was placed in Mason jars and sold. The ingredients are apples, sugar, water and cinnamon. All the men and women in the church would meet the day before and peel the apples. The next day before day light we would start cooking and stirring the apples all day. So good on hot buttered biscuits.
I love this box! I also want to thank the “southside girls” for sending you this lovely box it was so fun to watch & I love the gifts they enclosed. Happy Holidays!
Kate is just lovely.
Found this channel a few days ago & i have been binging ever sense. Almost made it to the most recent upload. Love you guys!
I have all my children’s home made ornaments on our tree. They made many over the years from school, church, etc. Even though most of them are grown now, they make sure every year to hang their own ornaments and fight over whose ornament with their picture on it is going to be hung on the front of the tree.... good times!
Apple butter is life. My grandmother always made it and canned her own every summer. We ate it on toast, biscuits, corn muffins. She also used it to make an old fashioned apple cake.
I love when you get the American boxes! I'm from America and sometimes discover new candies from these videos :)
Oh and you are correct about the butters. They are spreads for toast, biscuits, waffles\pancakes..etc!
Awesome box!
It really was
