How I Cured My Tinnitus

  • I am an Ear Doctor who had tinnitus over a decade ago but managed to get to the point where I cannot hear my tinnitus anymore. This video explains how I did it.
I must to say that this technique will not work for everyone, and I am not pretending that I have found a new cure for tinnitus. The information in this video is not new, just standard information you will find throughout tinnitus clinics around the country. All I am doing is explaining things in my own way. This is how I understand tinnitus, and this is what I tell patients when I see them with tinnitus (if I have enough time)
Tinnitus is also NOT my specialist subject, I just happen to have had it in the past. If you want treatment for tinnitus, I think it would be better for you to speak to a true expert at dealing with tinnitus. Most of what I know is in this video and therefore there isn't much point to come and see me about tinnitus. I would go to your local tinnitus clinic or see one of my colleagues about tinnitus - I have a list of people below:
Kiran Jumani / Nitesh Patel / Javier Moraleda / Simon Lloyd / Adolfo Bronstein
If you are offended or disagree with this video, I apologise and hope you see that this video was made in an attempt to help people with this condition. No harm was intended at all.

    IT WORKS!!!!!!
I got tinnitus about seven months ago. A friend told me it existed and I was so choked that I made the mistake to check if I had it at night. From that point on, my life was invaded by extremely annoying noises in both my ears that I had never noticed before. They grew louder every day and I started panicking seeing that all the sources online said it had no cure. I got depressed and anxious thinking it was for life.
I went to the doctor to check it. I had no hearing loss, so he washed my ears and some of the noises disappeared, but a constant whistle persisted in my left ear. I tried B vitamins and it got a little better, but not enough to give me my peace of mind back. So I tried Yoga, Chinese medicine, some tinnitus apps… But nothing really worked.
And then I found this video.
I decided to take it seriously and would never stay in silence.
When I got home, I would put on some music.
When I had to go to a room without music, I would sing or talk to myself.
At night, I would listen to podcasts before going to bed.
When I woke up, I would get out of bed right away.
At first, I would always think about my tinnitus. I was afraid to stay in silence and hear it again. But I was doing my best to constantly DISTRACT myself paying attention to the next thing that would come to my mind.
About a week later, it started to get quieter. Then I had to resist ALL the temptations to check if it still existed.
Now, about a month later, IT’S NOTHING. Even in silence, I forget about it. And I'm sure it will get to the point where I won't be able to hear it at all.
I can’t thank you enough, @VikVeerENTSurgeon. You saved my mental health, I meant it.
And for people struggling with tinnitus, please stay strong. I was never into meditation or anything like that, but I've learned that you can control your mind. :)

@@panayotpetkov8949 the point of listening to music/podcasts is to distract yourself so you won't pay attention to your tinnitus. if you stay silent paying attention to it, your brain will think you want to hear it and keep making it louder. it's well explained in the video.

1 week into my tinnitus attack I had a suicidal episode. I thought my life and work was _over_. I had gotten completely sucked into the online vortex of negativity. This video was the first positive message about tinnitus I had ever taken in. I listened to it 6-7 times over the following week any time i needed a voice of sanity. Vik, you made a huge impact on my little corner of the world. I can't thank you enough.
2 months later and the ringing went from front-and-center screaming at ~14khz, to a gentle background buzz that i really only notice when i go to bed (and it no longer provokes any anxiety). To anyone watching, I went from panic and listening to white noise 24/7, to resuming normal life and not requiring any masking at all. I have full confidence that in the next few months/year even the background buzz in quiet rooms will fade. Tinnitus does not need to be forever, which is not something online communities will tell you.

@@VikVeerENTSurgeon I'm glad you appreciate it. Take pity on those sending in threats, as they're a community of people suffering greatly with very little hope, and little interest from the medical community. My partner works with prison inmates, and it's apparent that people who act out in these ways are almost invariably suffering.
I agree on the recovery, and will go out of my way to share online the idea that it can go away. I'm lucky to have near-perfect hearing, just a little ~20dB dip at 12khz. Hopefully with time, neuro-stimulation devices like the one being developed by Susan Shore will offer treatment paths -- That or psychadelic medicine, which I have confidence will make a clinically significant impact on breaking these thought cycles, like a snow plow does to well-worn winter paths :).

i just had to leave a comment. i didnt have the time yet to watch the whole video but i was looking through the comments and found this.
Patrick, i am also in your shoes. I had a dip at ~11kHz and the doctors refused to treat me because it was apprantly 'beyond the human capabilities of hearing'. Thereafter I was trying to deal with tinnitus for the last 2 years with the third suicidal depression attack this very morning. Had all doctors I consulted telling me to deal with it since there's no cure, and all that's done is lead me to the conclusion that either i learn to live with it or die to escape from it.
Vic and Patrick's message (though I've only seen part of the vid) is exactly what I needed. It was something that I longed for but no one gave. Thank you both for giving me another little push and a thread of hope to keep fighting for.

You can heal cancer, autoimmune disorders, eye sight, cavities and chronic illnesses. It’s all about what you put into your body food wise, and what you put on your skin organ. Also has to do with movement and less screen time. How you live affects your health. All the medical books have it listed as prevention but it’s also how you reverse many things. Reversing inflammation by not eating inflammatory foods and additives. Very new world of medical coming to the Americas in the next decade or so. Don’t mention them in medical school though, especially with pharmaceutical companies around. They will bully you and laugh you out of the room.

A few months ago i have had an ear-infection which resulted in to sudden deafness on the right side. My hearing dropped to about 50% after auditory test.
This went on for a few weeks and after my hearing came back i started hearing a high-pitched tone.
This tone was constant for months and i was afraid i was going to live with this forever, but now.... 4 months later the tone is completely gone.
I remember scrolling through comments, looking for people experiencing the same thing but couldn't find one so i thought i'd share mine.

I have tinnitus for six years (more or less) and definitely the solution is to stop giving any importance to it. Anytime I think about it it comes back. Actually watching this video made my ringing a lot louder than it was before I watched it. I don't think I ever had some time without it, but the sound can get so low sometimes that I don't even noticed it. It's manageable for sure. Don't think it's the end of the world. Just stop caring about it and eventually it will die down. The moment you start giving it any attention, it will come back and annoy you.

Only people with high awareness can hear the ringing. Ringing is a very loud or low sound, it does not matter, it is in all people. if you focus on the ringing, you'll get in trouble with it.
it's just like taking the breathing out of automatic mode. If you think about breathing, your automatic breathing will stop.

      @tomchang3 Před rokem +6

It's your body letting you know to focus and let it ring, and find out what muscle groups are around that ringing. For example, right now, I can hear the ringing but mentally, try to feel for it in your head and tell that muscle manually MOVE / RELAX / DRAIN / DRAIN DOWN TO MY THROAT!!! because the automatic system is not working. Try it and let me know because it sure worked for me (still ringing, but I can feel the blockage clearing up). Feel your throat fill up with junk. -- If you ignore it, then in a way, the sensation is dying, and the nervous system is not reporting back.

Excersise is really helpful and make sure you get a full check up. When I have a virus, not enough sleep or am run down my symptoms increase dramatically, so keep in mind the worry period is TEMPORARY however unpleasant it may be.

hello, i would just like to come back and update on my current state of tinnitus. (i posted my comment a while back when i first got tinnitus) when i first got it, it genuinely came out of nowhere. i know for some it’s due to exposure to loud noise or maybe some kind of injury, but i’m pretty sure i was just watching tik tok. the first moment i got it, i could have vomited, as gross as that description is, it’s true. i was so anxious, my nervous system was on such high alert that i couldn’t sleep. so, i found this video. it gave me hope that even if i wasn’t able to get rid of my tinnitus, i could live with it. i’ve had tinnitus for about a year now, i like to describe the sounds as high pitch silence. (basically a hissing but i don’t hear hissing) anyway, i came here to shed some light on tinnitus and how it still affects me. here’s the great part, it’s honestly doesn’t! i have become used to it after a couple weeks of having it. i also wouldn’t quite say it is quite either, but i rarely ever notice it now. even at when i’m going to sleep! crazy right?! but this isn’t to say i don’t have hard days, today is that day. (hence me posting this at 4 in the morning, lol) BUT i still am hopeful it will pass. this video gives me that hope, still. WE GOT THIS 😁😁…okay i should get some sleep now 😅

This finally makes sense to me. My tinnitus started about a year ago. About 3 months in with my tinnitus I had already gone to an ENT and there was nothing they could do. I had no signs of hearing loss.
However, I was drawing using an app on my iPad one day and after drawing for about an hour I stopped to go get a drink of water and noticed my tinnitus almost completely stopped. It went down in volume 95%.
I ran to my wife and told her and was super exited but over the following week it gradually got louder until it was back where it was. After seeing this I think I’ll go back to drawing again. My mind is really focused when I draw but I never made the connection. Now this whole video makes sense.
Back to the drawing board for me. ✍️
I hope this is what helps.

I listened to your video yesterday and it gave me hope. More than that; i had a wonderful night and even feel some relief. You're right: i'm convinced our brain can make a filter. Since yesterday i keep saying to my brain i'm not interested by this sound and try to focus my attention on all other sounds around me. I want to educate my brain to focus on other sounds. If my brain can learn how to play guitar it can learn listening to other sounds.
Believe it or not, this night i woke up briefly and got the feeling my tinnitus was one tone lower.
Now i'll use every moment to tell my brain "i'm not interested" and push him to focus on all other sounds, and there are many, always and everywhere.
I haven tinnitus since 2019 with a strong increase for 4 weeks since a difficult emotional moment.
There is hope and our brain is a tool we can use. I need to work on focus and attention.
Let's not give to tinnitus the place it want to take in our life.
    Thank you for this video.

Absolutely fantastic video and very true.
I “thought” I first heard my tinnitus a few years ago, I concentrated on it, got stressed by it and it made it unbelievably loud. This got me stuck in a depressive loop.
I was in a toxic relationship at the time and I believe this is the reason why. I also developed eye floaters around the same time. I believe this was all linked.
Truth is, and I knew this to a certain degree, id heard it before, especially when I was stressed, after concerts, after I consumed large amounts of alcohol etc but never paid attention to it so was never bothered by it.
2 years later I am out of the relationship and happy, my tinnitus has improved beyond words. I used to hear it 24/7, I only ever hear it now if I’m in bed, when it’s very quiet and I’m pretty sure it’s what I’ve “always” heard and is totally normal.
If you have just “developed” it, let me reassure you, you haven’t, you have probably had it for a very, very long time, if not since you were born - you have only just NOTICED it!
Don’t give up hope, you will make a full recovery I promise!

For the last 2 weeks, i always turned on the radio when i got home, and taught my brain to pay attention to the foreground, and not the background of what i hear. I can now comfortably say that THIS VIDEO is the cure to tinnitus. Even when i slightly hear it, my brain immediately switches to listening to something else again. I have shared this video with others that i know suffer from it, and it is helping them steadily as well. Looking forward to my tinnitus being completely gone in a few months. Thank you so much for making this video! I've had tinnitus for over a year. It got worse recently after a hugely stressful period,. When I started researching it, MOST of the search results brought up that it's not curable. Thank you for giving a better answer to that. It's only 4 days after watching this and the sounds is disappearing. It's getting duller and sometimes isn't there at all. I didn't watch whole video, it was the explanation that there are sounds that exist all the time that we just don't hear because we've trained not to. This made so much sense to me. I practice meditation and have stopped fixating on the sound as a thing to panic about. Instead, I try to listen very closely to it. I try to dissect it see if I can find it's source. This seems to be weakening the connection!

The first thing to tell your brain is that tinnitus is perfectly normal and absolutely nothing to worry about.
Nothing is wrong with your ears or brain…you are a very sensitive and have hyper awareness….most people go through life in a dream like state…unaware of most of the things that are going on around them.
People with tinnitus hear more and see more that the average person…
Once you understand that your tinnitus is simply part of your super awareness and accept that it’s perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, it will cease to bother you.
It worries you because you feel you cannot stop it,but once you understand that it’s perfectly normal and learn to accept it, the fear of it being something serious starts to fade, Just keep telling yourself it’s not harmful in any way and hearing it just confirms your super awareness.
    Self hypnosis is the key…😉

The hearing aid has the ability to remove hearing tinnitus so you can hear without the constant noise. I was able to experience no tinnitus while wearing hearing aids during a test trial. However I did not want to spend the money since hearing aids are extremely costly. Years later I was no longer able to hear myself over the tinnitus so I would shout and annoy all around me. Then I spent the money for hearing aids and then it must have been worse since tinnitus still occurred with the hearing aid. Just my experience.

I have significant hearing loss and saw audiologist, then got hearing aids.
      I HATED them!
The audiologist assured me that my brain would adjust to all the horrible noise that, seemed to me, was assaulting my brain.
My hair touching my glasses sounded like cellophane crumbling. Every step I took causes banging in my head, and the aids were turned only to 40%, with audiologist plan to increase 10% each week until 100%
If my brain can grow accustomed to every second being assaulted with noise, I reckon my brain can grow accustomed to tinnitus.
I’ve been hearing impaired my entire life. Now, the audiologist is trying to hard-sell me that I’m more prone to dementia if I don’t correct my hearing.
I don’t believe this, but if anyone has further info, please reach out to me.
I’ve live this way for my entire life. I don’t miss what I am not hearing. Not at all.
I was having panic attacks and crying whenever I was supposed to wear the hearing aids. I was really, really unhappy, but was convinced that I had to wear them.
Finally, I was just so miserable that I took them out, and will NEVER wear hearing aids again, unless they drastically improve in function.
Oh, and there was zero improvement in my tinnitus.
My puppy barked at me and it sounded like he was going to kill me.
I couldn’t drive because every car that I passed by (coming toward me on the other side of the road) sounded so violent that I’d be immediately distracted, so couldn’t safely drive.
All the while, the audiologist, who is a doctor of audiology, paid no heed to what I was saying and insisted that I’d grow accustomed.
For an audiologist, she sorely lacks ability to listen and hear.

This video is SO helpful. Like you, I started having problems with Tinnitus in 2008, with a loud blast of a speaker when I was at a rock concert. Unlike you, I didn't know how to resolve it. And the medical people (GP, 2 audiologists) all said, "You will probably have to live with it for the rest of your life! Have a nice day!" How I WISH, Dr. Veer, that I had seen your video back then. However, I have sort of stumbled on what you share in this video. When I have bad Tinnitus days, I try to distract myself. I do not notice it is worse when my stress is up. So I view it as a flashing warning light on the dashboard of my life to do what I can to deal with the stress at hand. I will also put your suggestions into practice. Also, I really enjoy your channel! I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in January. Starting CPAP has been a challenge (including Treatment Emergent Central Apneas), however, I am pressing through all that and am using the CPAP through the night. Now, I'm really experiencing the amazing DIFFERENCE that CPAP is making... I feel so much more well rested, refreshed. I feel like I'm 22, not 62! Your channel has really helped me understand sleep apnea. Keep up your good, compassionate work. That compassion for others really shines through your videos! I too don’t like a music or false annoying distracting masking noise but i find a youtube audio book which has a good reader with voice just right, melodious timbre, no accent, not too loud. Then i fall asleep listening. Distraction as you say works. it takes time each night to find the right story but worth finding one that will work. After a good sleep, one starts next day more relaxed and not uptight. In the day, i’m alone a lot as prefer silence, but even here, i need to listen to a distracting noise of choice if i’m not with people but conversation with others is best distraction. Also practise “habituation” which is mastery of brain over noise, accepting it is there but not letting noise dominate or bother you. Accepting it lowers anxiety it’s there. Distraction as you say is key

I had tinnitus a couple of decades ago, and I found that I could just mentally try to "turn it off" and it would go off. I did this every time it came back, and eventually, it stopped coming back.
    This is mentally taxing though.
A week ago, it came back with a vengeance, and my attempts to just mentally turn it off as before failed. But I realized that I was panicking a bit, and making it worse by focusing on it. I found that it was reduced while watching this video, because of the calming tone. You've given me hope that I can suppress it again.

I will for sure complete your video and listen several more times. The closest I have gotten to calming my tinnitus was when an ENT suggested I wear hearing aids to basically do what you are suggesting....mask the sound. The hearing aid was to over stimulate my brain with pronounced ambient sounds to mask IT. Did not work. I will try to take control of it and constantly tell myself that I'm not interested in this 3 horrible frequencies and focus on ANYTHING else around me. Thank you for this.

Thank you Vik, for your positive message, I cannot tell you how much I needed to hear someone tell me I am not stuck with this forever. My tinnitus started a week ago after I had taken some bis-glycinate tablets I took to help with sleep and muscle strength. They were the only thing I did differently, I started the tablets on the Sunday by Wednesday had this awful buzzing in both ears, so stopped taking the tablets, I think the amount of magnesium in the tablets triggered this as the bottle said one in morning two in evening so quite a high amount of magnesium. I was not on any other tablets. Since stopping them (only took for 3 days) it has lessened but has not gone away and feel the tablets have pushed me into the loop you mention and that I now have to work out how to retrain my brain. Frustrated and angry this has happened but to hear your positive message that this does not have to be my reality going forward is really good to hear. I have also tried that flicking of the lower part of the back of the head but it seems to only give momentary relief and does not last. I can distract all day but at night I have issues with sleeping, I have tried audio books, and they help a bit and I can drop off listening to them but it is not restful sleep. I am determined to remain positive and will action all your great advice, thank you so much.

I learned this in sixth grade anatomy - why you doctors don't know it amazes me. There are tiny hairs in the cochlea that get stimulated with sound. That stimulation then goes to the brain. I have tinnitus predominantly in my left ear. In 1995 as an adult, I got mononucleosis, and for a year and a half was plagued with one infection after another, one of which went into my ears. What happened to me is that I had liquid mucus buildup behind my eardrum. To an ENT doctor, my eardrum felt like a brick wall. There was no motion. And, in the middle of my infection, I could not hear out of that ear at all. He ended up piercing my eardrum to drain the build up of mucus. Later, another ENT blew a white powder with a straw into the hole created by the eardrum piercing, and voila -- he cured the infection. Later they remove the little plastic tube that they put in my eardrum for drainage. He told me that the eardrum would seal itself and I suppose it did. Now what I’m left with is a bunch of dried fluid around a certain few hairs inside my cochlea, which prevent those particular hairs from being able to receive certain pitches. Additionally, they are gooped down with dry mucus, which causes the tinnitus. My cochlea needs cleaning. But how does one clean inside a cochlea? This will cure tinnitus and if you can figure out how to clean it, then you will have a cure for tinnitus.

Excellent! I’ve had this condition for decades. Originally, I felt trapped in a world where I could lose my mind. As time passed, I found it didn’t interfere with my work (Civil Engineer) but, if I’d check, it would still be there; at times causing brief anxiety. At that time, I began to associate it with going into a newly painted room; when you first go the odor is strong but, after some time you don’t notice it because you become distracted. When Neuroscience came along, I got interested and it opened up a whole new world of understanding brain functions. You absolutely have the best explanation of what is happening and I’d recommend it to anyone dealing with tinnitus. Just understanding is helpful.

This has been the most helpful piece of tinnitus content I've seen on the internet since I started dealing with it after airplane barotrauma a few months ago. The advice is simple: if you make an effort to focus on your tinnitus less, your brain will start to screen it out. In my case, it's worked better and faster than I could have dreamed of.. Within 1-2 days of putting this advice into practice, my life had transformed to "back to normal". The sound is still there if I seek it out, but most of the time my brain has hidden it from my perception. It's like a shortcut to habituation... or rather, I would guess that my obsession in constantly checking my tinnitus had been holding habituation back. Thanks for the free advice Doctor Vik!

First of all: I so very much appreciate your humble disposition as a doctor. My Tinnitus started shortly after having been exposed to black mold. I did find something online suggesting that black mold can trigger tinnitus which, I presume, would suggest an infection. However, I do think that it's not the ear but, as you stated, rather brain-noise like a constant electrical current. Your idea of recalibrating the brain makes so much sense to me as it implies the creation of a filter. In other words getting the brain to filter out (suppress) unwanted noise. Thank you!

Never before I had someone describe exactly what I was going through with my tinnitus and its underlying mechanisms (from the brain's reinforcement of erroneous neural pathways to the additional negative feedback loop due to anxiety/depression) ... I appreciate this video and your honesty very much. I got this horrid problem in one ear a few months ago after experiencing a wax blockage. During that I had little hearing from that ear obviously, slowly replaced by a constant hissing sound. After the wax was cleared, my hearing didn't return to normal as I expected as I became aware of a loss of upper frequency range, along with the tinnitus continuing, varying from a hissing to a higher pitched whine at different times.
Eventually, during examination by a GP, a perforated ear drum and infection was discovered, and a course of antibiotics followed. A follow up GP visit revealed the ear drum had healed, so a steroidal ear spray was prescribed to clear up remaining inflamation in the ear canal. However, no improvement in hearing or reduction in the continuous tinnitus has been observed since. I was also referred to an ENT by the GP, but the NHS being what it is, the appointment given isn't until next spring! So I have been looking for ways to improve the situation myself. I can relate to other people's despair over this, so thanks again for sharing your experience.

I have had a tinnitus for my whole life, a high pitched whine in my ears, more intense in my left side. I can change the pitch by relaxing and tensing muscles that move my jaw, so I'm pretty sure that my tinnitus is coming from my ears, not from my brains.
    I have lost the tinnitus sound once in my life, for a few seconds;
I was laying on my bed and all of the sudden all the sound stopped, it was dead silent. I had the scare of my life, I was quite certain that I had died and I was absolutely horrified and in full panic mode.. then my tinnitus came back, the old friend, and I knew that I was still alive.

Huge respect to you my guy. I got tinnitus (?) 2 days ago at night when I couldn’t sleep and watched a scary video that made me stress. That stress completely made me focus on the wrong things and I thought I started hearing a beeping sound. That thought in itself did exactly what you said, I got more scared which made me more paranoid harder to sleep more anxiety etc. I remember the next day when I woke up after a terrible night of sleep I told my dad about it and I remember telling him “I think I’m just thinking too much about it”, and in one way I think that’s correct because the more you think about your tinnitus the more anxiety it causes the stronger it gets and less unnoticeable etc. My tinnitus is very weak though and I only hear it at night or when my brain wants to check if I still have it because of the paranoia. In my opinion it’s all just in the mind and about rewriting the brain. Thank you for this amazing video that gives me hope to do what I’ve been doing and more! Also I’m just 16 years of age

    Hi all,
I’ve been suffering from Tinitus for about 6 months now. Initially, it was really tough with the associated anxiety, stress and general panic.
I love what the Dr has to say and really believe that you can’t let it change your life. Don’t let it control you, control it. Have a active life and distract yourself as much as possible by staying active and doing things. Try to stay away from silence, be outdoors and around people as much as you can. Interacting with people is the best way to distract you from the constant ringing. Obviously this doesn’t help much in those tough time in the night and morning, but the Docs advice definitely will!
Stay positive guys! It’s the only way!

By far the most comprehensive and empathetic explanation of how tinnitus can get a hold on your life...😕. The most constructive and positive 45 mins I have spent over the past three months in researching and trying to make some sense of the utter chaos this unwelcome and unannounced condition brings with it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have given me and the determination to get rid of this curse. Looking forward to further updates. Now off to find the shipping forecast 👍🏻

I think out of all the information I have read and the videos I have watched, this has to be the best in depth explanation on how the brain reacts and focuses on our emotional response to sound and tinnitus is the result. This heightened state from being overanxious, has made me realise, not only with tinnitus, eye associated issues and other muscle tension conditions, that the mind is very powerful and we have to do our best to relax and send a message to the subconscious that we are ok, and this does not happen overnight and we have to keep reminding ourselves, as often as we can, that the anxious state we are in is what is keeping it alive and active and causing us unnecessary suffering and discomfort. Wishing everyone well and please chillax and take care of yourselves! Stay calm and relaxed.

Thank you Vik for your wonderful explanation and hope. You are 100% correct when I distract myself I have a hard time hearing the buzzing noise but it is when there is quiet and I think about it that it flares up. Thank you for giving people hope since the first ENT that I went to told me to forget about cure and that I would have to live with this forever. Of course, I fired him immediately! God bless you and the work you are providing!

12 minutes in and great info so far… Only issue is, as soon as I think about tinnitus it gets so loud that it’s almost unbearable. For the most part, the only time I hear it these days is when I think of it or when someone mentions it. Hoping I can one day be without it. On occasion it causes great anxiety and brings on panic attacks.

Violet noise helps with my particular tone of tinnitus. I've done a few exercises like clicking behind the ear or in front of the ear. They give a bit of temporary relief. The best thing my ENT said was look at it as an outside noise instead of an inside noise...like living near a train track and eventually you tune the train out. He recommended Melatonin in a high dosage but even a small dosage makes me groggy and sad the next day.

This is a useful video. I noticed that when distracting myself, the Tinnitus reduced to almost nothing. It's a good start for sure. Thank you.

I've had low-level, easy to ignore tinnitus for years, but recently it got much louder in one ear. Definitely agree distraction is key -- I notice it least when I'm weightlifting lol -- but I also have gotten some real relief from some videos here on CZcams. The tinnitus relief videos on Art of Zen have helped hugely with getting some sleep. I think they work in the way Vik mentioned about the 180 degree phase shift. The tones sort of shift around in the videos, but all provide relief and every once in a while the *exact* tone will play...ahhhhhh. So much relief. But even the other tones help. I feel like the second I put on the video, I feel much better, which is game-changing. I like that if I have the video on in the background, it helps me "forget" my tinnitus. There are some nice long videos, four or even twelve hours with a river noise in the background. I've had several injuries now (knee pain, foot pain, etc.) where the trick really seems to be that you need to convince your brain to "forget" about it. You stop paying attention to it, and one day, you notice it just isn't there anymore. Hopefully will be true for this too. Highly recommend you search CZcams for tinnitus relief tone videos to see if you can find some relief. There is hope.

Im 39 I've had tinnitus for around 15 years, it came about following a night out exposed to very loud music, despite me doing this for years this one time it never did go away. Id now describe it as mild, constant high pitch sound always noticeable. I've managed to live fairly comfortably with it. I'm just recovering from quite a nasty ear infection which has increased the sound of the ringing, I've found this video helpful in terms of learning how maybe to control and distract myself from the noise, its refreshing to hear we can actually reduce or even "forget we have it" I find being in the outdoors surrounding by birds and the sound of breeze really helps me dull or forget the sound, maybe ill take up fishing, a peaceful outdoor actually that may help recover from this, this video has really help me think of ways i can get rid of this. Thank you :)

Thank you sir, this is the most useful video about tinnitus I have found. Understanding that focusing on the ringing sound only makes my brain think that I want to hear it was a game-changer for me. I still hear the sound but it no longer bothers me. It has gone from an 8 to a 3 in less than a week and I'm pretty confident I can keep improving it. If the sound doesn't ever go away, I'm still training my mind to not be bothered by it so it's a win-win situation.
