  • I have been asked several times to explain how I moved from habituation of tinnitus to silence. I try and describe it here. Please be aware this is how it worked for me, I am not a tinnitus expert and I would see Dr Kiran Jumani - ENT Consultant if you want specialist care for tinnitus. I do not provide specialist care for tinnitus.

Vik, your first video years ago pulled me out of a suicidal spiral. The timing of this one is perfect as I unfortunately had a terrible recurrence over Christmas, and am now in this habituation phase as things settle down and the tinnitus ever so slowly fades. I’ll be listening to this one on repeat, no doubt. Hope your next videos are not too far away 😊

Thanks Vik your Videos really helped me through a really difficult 12 months with my tinnitus was In a really dark place got bad for me in November 2022 but got down to a level where I don't notice it and if I do I can ignore it again hopefully it will keep improving to where I don't notice it anymore..got my tinnitus almost 5 years ago from using an angle grinder cutting steel in 2019( no ear protection) but I learned to get used to it and habituated but in November 2022 it got bad ( my ears were blocked I have narrow ear canal ) but I didn't now it at the time and it got really loud and intruding and I got kicked out of my habitation and I feel into deep depression and anxiety but your video help me alot didn't help right away but it slowly help when I felt at my lowest I would watch it and it would give me hope again...I'm almost back to where I was and getting back to injoy life again I'm about 70% there and I would like to say thanks for your videos it really gave me hope and I'm on the road to recovery..Thank you Vik Veer all the best in life and God bless you 🙏🙏Hopefully Your Videos will help someone else going through a though time with their tinnitus...hopefully a cure for it soon in the future 🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thank you for this follow up video! I very recently watched your last video (about a week ago). I've been practicing all day, and into the night, retraining my brain to hear the noises around me. Saying or just thinking "I hear ____" and also telling my brain that I'm not interested in those interior noises anymore. Lol I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or not but sure enough I had my first day not being bothered by the ringing...and I've had ringing for as long as I can remember. Again I say thank you for your video! Not just making the video, but giving away life saving information and hope!

hello doctor, i was very pleased to watch your first video! since everyone else says that this is incurable! but it seems that a lot of people are being cured of it! it is either m trying to convince myself or it is just that people who cured prefer not to talk about it again which is fair!
i had my tinnitus 10 days ago maybe because of altitude difference, going back and forth between two cities. i have a mild hearing loss at 4000 and 16000hz but the doc said that this is not even considered hearing loss and would affect nothing, but i have ear pressure which i can feel and it stated -3 dapa i do not really know what that means. at same time m having a sore throat with an inflamed sinus which is making my tinnitus a bit loud now. and honestly i was so stressed and depressed before i got it.
after watching your first video i had a great belief that i would heal one day and i hope you comment on this.

Thank you for your videos, doctor. I love the way you explain things, being positive but realistic at the same time. I would be thankful if you could help me on the following question: do you think it´s realistic to "silence" tinnitus even if it´s caused by hearing loss? Or is "habituation" the highest goal I can strive for in that case? How about your tinnitus? Was it caused by hearing loss? Or any other cause? Many thanks for your response in advance!

Prior to me focusing on this low frequency Tinnitus, i have this other Tinnitus that would make my left ear vibrate to the pitch of others voices when they speak on my right side directly. Other times if im not focused on it, its not triggered if im not focusedon it. I am going to see a ear specialist on the 31st down here in Orange Ca. This new Tinnitus has been annoying for the past two days, but i feel from watching your last video has given me hope and to not stress about it.

Thanks a lot doctor for your great videos, I got tinnitus recently and I have been suffering from it for the last 2 months, until now I didn't get a chance to see an ENT doctor as the medical system is so slow here in Ireland, it's impacting my sleep and my daily life badly.
I always try to listen to music or something before and while sleeping, but it seems not to help much yet, my brain not able to create the filter as maybe I'm still giving my tinnitus too much attention.
I'm still hoping to know the root cause of my tinnitus and hoping it's treatable, I went to audiology and said my ear is seems healthy and maybe the ENT could do more checks and maybe an MRI as my tinnitus is only on the right ear, I'm really terrified to have this tinnitus for the rest of my life.
So sorry for the long comment, just venting.
    Many thanks again doctor. 🙏

Hi, I am also a medical doctor from Turkey. I have tinnitus for 40 days, I learned a lot from your videos and benefited. The point I want to ask is about the character of tinnitus. In my first days of tinnitus, I heard only one sound like whistling, it was sometimes increasing and sometimes decreasing. But a few days later I heard a second noise, it was a humming noise, it dominated following days but I still have two different noises in my right ear. Is it because I am focused on my first sound and produce a second one on my own; does it have a clinical importance to have "double tinnitus", or is tinnitus always a tinnitus whether there are two, three? Thanks you so much for sharing your experience.

please help me with an opinion. I have tinnitus and I sleep very well with it. I wear earplugs when I sleep before the tinnitus started and I continued after, even if I hear it louder because of them, (my ears are perfect and I go for regular check-ups, without infections or wax ) I sleep very well and I don't wake up from noises around me and I'm rested, so I hear it less during the day because i have good sleep with ear plug
my question is: can the earplugs worsen the tinnitus or cause it, considering that I sleep very well with the plugs and the tinnitus? should I give up? it helps me to be very rested
thank you I appreciate all your work

I also used to wear earplugs to sleep prior to getting T. I think this might be my reason for getting T. The plugs cause your brain to focus on what it hears inside your head and not outside. Well.. that's my humble opinion.

I’m 3 years down the line I’m ex military I’ve been shot and blown up I’ve over come so many life changes, but this is the one that nearly made me kill myself 24/7 torture is what I have no rest at all . Quit is now my enemy . I can only let you know my thoughts as I have had it so long. First thing is except it not many people can stop the noise the sooner you realise it’s with you for ever it helps you deal with it. I sleep with a soft head band with built in speakers at night with relaxation music it really does work. At night if my family in bed again I’ve purchased great quality blue tooth headphones so I can watch tv at night and keep my buzzing at bay . All these exercises you see on you tube hitting your head with spoons and tapping your head with fingers forget it. Some people are lucky it can leave them but it’s only a few there is no cure I know I’ve got mine till the end . Realising this has helped me but I have many bad nights still . It’s a battle for sure . I pray 🙏 for you it gets better or even it leaves you for good .

Makes sense what you say Doc....but my tinnitus reminder every morning and every night is the fact that I wear hearing aides. Any ideas? On how to try and forget about the fact that you have to put them on and take them off every day? Hearing aides do help me with the tinnitus during the normal work hours because they are setup to amplify my audio frequency gaps and so they have a masking effect on my tinnitus.

    • @7Earthsky
      @7Earthsky Před 3 dny

I didn't have hearing lost but have had T for a long time. I am in the same situation as you now though and may need a hearing aid in one ear...I think though that it doesn't matter if you completely forget consciously...I think it is more like getting over an ex partner.....You can still think of them but not feel any emotion because your heart isn't broken and it don't bother you no more....I think that is how you get cured....You can remember you had it but you don't hear nothing no more because your filter works again in your brain. ..It's all about healing your filter so it goes back up and filters it out as pointless noise not to bother noticing.
