  • A year long project come to an end. Finally after a long delay and many countless hours with help from the best slimestoners we managed to finish the last slimestone goal. To make a non-restrictive bedrock breaking system using pistons in a renewable setup. Huge thanks to everyone in the credit section as this project became a group effort in the end then a one man project.
    A more in depth video of all the components, history of the build and a full explanation of piston bedrock breaking will follow.

    For anyone asking about future versions of Minecraft past 1.12. Mojang changed piston mechanics and broke Myren's setup. It's the critical component in this contraption that breaks the bedrock. Given the behavior changed no new renewable method of breaking bedrock past 1.12 exists that can break bedrock without using up pistons. There are some redesigns of the non-renewable method of breaking bedrock using up pistons but its only 1 directional and only breaks 4 wide bedrock contrasted to the 5 wide in 1.12. Sadly Mojang's vision of breaking bedrock isn't positive and if the opportunity was given they would permanently patch this feature and we would be stuck with the permanent obstructive bedrock that adds value if it can be removed for as endgame content.
    This mechanic along with chunk loading and few other have many servers stay in 1.12. Given that others such as Comet107 also have made a 3-way bedrock breaker, his channel is linked in the description, the future of Minecraft sadly reduces content so many of us decide to stay in the version where meaningful endgame content isn't regarded as unintended and constantly is in risk of being removed.

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 4 lety +38

      @@LegendLength There is a problem doing that. The general community consists of many different servers playing vanilla. If one server starts playing with modded features then they quickly will diverge into there own nich bubble and anything they design and build on there world will be ignored by everyone outside that small server.
      The biggest problem in the community is a generalized consensus over how to play the game. Even with the vanilla base we have a hard time agreeing to anything let alone modded content. Vanilla however is the best stable base we all at least are forced to agree on so when Mojang takes the game into a direction with less content the community are all forced to stop updating or end up playing modded without the rest of the community.
      Just as an example, this 3-way breaker would be a meh project ignored by everyone but 40 people on SC if it only worked with modded features.

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 4 lety +26

      @@LegendLength It's hard to pull it off because even within SciCraft choices argued over in length without an end. It's also a difficult task given the tech community tries to find exploits with what's been given. If obstacles can be modded then the game quickly devolves into calling up one of the modders and tweak the game to make things work without finding workarounds. But even if avoiding doing that and only add back old mechanics and not just mod the game easier the problem is that modders need to maintain mods or get people to agree on what needs added back. Yet again devolves into arguments and nothing gets done.
      A great example of it was to try convince the community to update from 1.12.0 to 1.12.2. It's still being argued that it was unnecessary, gets a lot of people riled up and many people force resist the change. A small minor version change without anything lost or gain and it was almost impossible to pull it off. Doing a big change as in making a whole mod pack, getting people to agree on it and convincing everyone to update to it is so far beyond possible.

      @MichaelPohoreski Před 4 lety +9

      Thanks for the update Xcom6000. I'm just yet-another-anonymous-technical-mincecrafter but I believe my sentiments are shared by _many_ others technical minecrafters: *We feel and share your absolute frustration with Mojang having their collective head up their ass about bedrock breaking and ignoring the technical community in general.*
      As Methodzz popularized: _Awesome game design Mojang!_
      I think most fans of SciCraft would _still love_ to see some of the non-renewable method of breaking bedrock for later versions of Minecraft.
      As a community is there _anything_ we can do together to help Mojang stop being so dumb about bedrock breaking?
      i.e. How the technical community handled TNT duping in pre-1.13 by collectively withholding that information until _after_ 1.13 was released was an **awesome** way of basically giving Mojang the middle finger!
      Thanks again for listening to this "dog on the Internet." =P

      @@notfirstTHERMAL There isn't anything new that can be made with the honey blocks that wasn't possible before. There are some more compacter ways to do certain things bug performance kills it. There is no way the performance of slimestone being equivalent when contraptions have to be made 1/10th the size because of lag. Dragon egg bedrock breaking, piston bedrock breaking also is patched so its not exactly possible to do any oft that. Quarry tech already is at a point where it's almost impossible to make it better in 12. Honeyblocks basically add nothing that wasn't there before. It's slightly more flexible when it comes to compacter slimestone but given features / bugs that were core of the contraptions already where patched then its pointless updating because of it.

      but the pistons needs to break twice.
