  • Booster sets are Konami primary way of giving the players the newest cards, archtypes and strategies, but have you ever wondered which ones are the best ?
    I try to answer that question in this video.

    Totally agree with Duelist Alliance. We went from a format where you could play anything, and where random decks topped, to a format where literally the ONLY topping decks at premier events came from archetypes in that set. And that was without a banlist change in between.

      Piconoe well yeah, and i guess I'll have to say again *well constructed for a change DARK-WORLDS* still do the job at least in my case and not even joking though, tbh these new top decks aren't really all that OP compared to other ones (like baby rulers, judgement prophecies or full chaos) so they're fairly beatable... QLIS makes DW a favor by running skill drain so you can run something else, with Shadolls just go full draw power to get the Virus traps and sack them and for BA is a similar thing, just stun them with skill drain and go broke with Erradicator and call traps (no fire lakes) ... not even close to "tier 0" though

    Also, because I knew people would instantly bring up Duelist Revolution. I thought about it and thought originally that it would easily make it in the top 10. It had Warning, Duality, Veiler and Scraps. But then I took those out and tried finding other great and amazing cards, and they're really a lot. I'll take Karakuri over Scraps and Warning and Vanity are basically equal. Leaving Star Strike Blast still with meta changing GK/Dragunity support and collectively better hand traps.

    What you said about Legacy of Darkness is so true, that set had so many bizarre broken cards. xD The release of Phantom Darkness actually led to me taking a break from this game all together, it was too chaotic.
    I would also argue that Cybernetic Revolution could make this list. The introduction of Cyber Dragon completely changed how we played the game. And having the ability to Metamorphosis into Cyber Twin Dragon was absolutely devastating.

I pulled Tyrant Dragon. 1 of my Friends pulled Freed the Matchless General, and the other pulled Dark Ruler Ha Des. those 3 cards went on to determine our playstyles for years to come. Power/Dragons, Control/Fiends, Swarming/Warriors

    @123Mathzak Před 9 lety +3

    I'm shocked Invasion of Chaos isn't number 1, It made Yugioh what it is today, yes, Duelist Alliance gave 3 tier 1 decks, but Invasion of Chaos has 3 of the top 10 most deadly and powerful monsters ever: BLS EotB, CED EotE and DMoC, 3 cards that cannot be replicated in any way, shape or form by any card in today's game. Not to m mention the shenanigans from other cards in the set such as Dimension Fusion, Manticore of Darkness, and gave birth to staples throughout many formats like Compulse and Smashing Ground.

    I agree with this list... well, except that I would have had Invasion of Chaos at number 1. Most people forget one crucial fact about that set: It's most powerful monster, Chaos Emperor Dragon, was one of the reasons we even have a restricted section in our ban list at all. Before IOC, everything that was on the list was limited to either one or two, NOTHING banned. It wasn't until the infamous and terrifying Yata-Lock that the banned list was born. Anyone else agree with me?

    maybe not even an "honorable mention" material but both Soul of the Duelist and Flaming Eternity the final sets at the end of Original DM era were like really special for the game though (at least to me) ... the introduction of interesting *_Lvl_** monsters* and *Horus* in *SofD* was awesome, while *FE* was the introduction of one really neat monster which is *Neftys* also just like Magicians Force was for spellcasters in *FE* there's some cool atributes cards and cool support for still my fav type and style yet which are _beasts_ ... many good memories from duels using those packs tho

  • @CommanderWar64
    @CommanderWar64 Před 9 lety +18

    This list is very true, but I feel like other honorable mentions include Duelist Revolution (Scraps, Duality, Warning, Veiler, need I say more?), and Storm of Ragnarok (Six Sams, MORE KARAKURI, Maxx C, Doppel Warrior, lance). I feel that 5Ds released the most well-constructed/balanced packs in which that have generic s/t and decent archetype support. Zexal I think was the WORST series not in the anime both in the fact that there were SO many bad archetypes (Too many bad Madolche, Prophecy, Mermail, Fire Fist, Mecha Phantom Beast filler monsters; thats not including all the bad shit from the anime itself).

    Return of the duelist: introduced prophecy, madolche, and geargia and it was the set that began giving support for attributes, return of the duelist had earth attribute, abyss rising had water attribute, etc.
    soul of the duelist: introduced the LV monsters such as the Horus and armed dragon series

So after this video i feel confirmed and i will prabably never be back in this game most likely..actually a shame but what can u do :)

    What about Photon Shockwave? It gave us a nasty control deck in Dino Rabbit that dominated for many formats, the XYZs in that set were nuts at the time (zenmaines, laggia, dolkka), and it gave the basis for wind-ups with wind-up hunter and wind-up rabbit. At one point, 4 of the secret rares in the set were worth more than $80 (zenmaines, rescue rabbit, dolkka, and wind-up rabbit)! The decks produced from this only died once they were severely hit! I think this set put XYZs on the map.

    Invasion of chaos has to be number 1 no question. It literally was so powerful that yugioh was forced to create a banlist, and chaos emperor dragon still stands as the most broken card ever printed. Duelist alliance was definitely hyped but nothing can stand in the way of the big 3 (chaos emperor, BLS and Dark Magician of Chaos) in invasion of chaos

    Like, it's ridiculous how hard DUEA powercreeped this game. I assure you, we'll never EVER see things like Firefist or Geargia topping again. Konami can't and won't stop the powercreep they started in DUEA, they just have to keep going. And I don't even want to imagine what the state of the game will be in 1 - 2 years.

    You didn't put invasion of chaos on the top spot because of burning abyss? Maybe u forgot all the cards from IOC that we still play today! And the set came out in 2004!!

    • @YoungSkullKid1990
      @YoungSkullKid1990 Před 9 lety

      pitukingo I don't think it was merely because of Burning Abyss....as much as Duelist Alliance resurrected fusions, and brought forward 3 tier one archetypes at the moment of launch. Bringing back a dying/dead summoning method is astounding. Rivaled by Secret Forces, which did a far more impressive job with the Nekroz. It seems Konami is finally learning variety...

      if only it would contain more than a bunch of useless old vanillas (except Mistic Elf, Dark Magician and BEWD) Exodia pieces that were hard as f#ck to pull, few Dark Hole, Raigeky and Sword of Revealing Light here and there then yeah, it would be important XD

    • @chaosd.emperor7462
      @chaosd.emperor7462 Před 8 lety +1

      kickstarting the game has to happen eventually. no reason to put it on the list for that. 99% of the monsters are normal monsters. raigeki,exodia,dark hole,pot of greed were epic tho

    For multiple different reasons, but for me:
    5. Legacy Of Darkness
    4. Cybernetic Revolution
    3. Invasion Of Chaos
    2. Metal Raiders
    1. Magician's Force

    I can agree with you that Duelist Alliance is arguably one of the best sets ever for the reason that you stated of how it gave three tier one decks. I don't think The Shining Darkness deserves a spot in the honorable mentions list, I never liked that set very much.

  • @EvoForce360
    @EvoForce360 Před 9 lety

    Im sorry CapG but duelist revolution to this day still one of the few booster boxes to break over 150 for a box and when it was release you have to think about the key cards that were released and how it affected the meta.... Example
    x3warning
    x3duelality
    x2-3 EV
    and to have all these cards in your deck you were looking at over 300 dollars....i believe. This set without. A question. Should be on the list....

    Another thing about Duelist Alliance, after that set basically it's nothing but top tier decks topping at events and you barely play against any decks that aren't considered top tier unlike before when there were many rogue decks floating around.
