Handtraps are like the unforeseen secret weapon of every duelist. Waiting for just the right moment to turn the tide of a game. I've decided to list the 10 best we have.
I can't believe you didn't even give honorable mention to poor little Kuriboh. Yeah, he's dated, but he was the first "activated from the hand" card. I mean, come ON here!
How about a top 10 archetypes that you'd like to see expanded on. Like archetypes that you think are cool, and just want to be good but they're not. I'm looking at you every Dino/Reptile based Archetype in existence.
The problem with Kalut and Crane is that they are archetype spesific, meaning they only work for one type of deck. That's what is stopping them from being on this list.
CobaltClaw It isn't just that they're only archetype specific it's that they are archetype specific so every time you face their deck you immediately try to play around them when the point of a hand trap is that you don't see them coming.
Anyone got any ideas for more yugioh hierarchy? Maybe top 10 splashable/staple cards, top 10 hyped up cards, top 10 rank 4 xyzs, top 10 blowout cards, ect. Great videos Megacap, keep them up. I've been wondering where that series where you argued for a cards unbanning went.
Along the same lines as what you said about Gorz changing the way people conduct their battle phase (attacking with their weakest monster first), you should do a yugioh hierarchy on the top ten cards that people try to play around/changed the way people play. Things like torrential where people are careful about overextending, or mirror force where people put monsters in defense mode before the battle phase, or heavy storm where people don't set all of their backrow.
Nobody uses Gorz much anymore but still to this day I attack with the lowest first haha, but most other people have stopped that since people stopped using the card.
this series is pretty cool. im amazed how much soul charge has made an impact on the meta. it's eff is so powerful, it names a format after itself o.o.
Interesting thing about Gorz is how almost no one use it anymore. Shame how such powerful card has been like completely forgotten. Satellaknights, Shadoll, Geargia, Burning Abyss, Constellars etc. No signs of anyone using it. Making Gorz all that more powerful and surprising factor when someone drop it on you. One good example was with Alexander Trivedi in Europe championship this year running Gorz in Mermails. He caught his opponents of guard coming of as game changer. Because many ignored this card existence.
gorz can be pretty game changing, especially late in the game. when the boss monsters have been defeated, and you're down to your last life points, a gorz comes out, and runs over your opp's little monsters like no big problem. at this point of the game, your opp has to save their little monsters from this 2700 beatstick. their little monsters got to upgrade to big monsters. and it takes a turn for that but nope gorz is there to shrek racing all day
I think top 10 most influential monsters or cards of all time (that changed how we play the game or why we play certain ways) for example, stardust dragon being one of the first synchros, was very influential because decks started playing weak low level monsters to make synchros whereas before we were playing beaters. Royal decree... Another influential card... The reason why decks shape there trap lineup 8-10 and not 25 traps... See what im saying? You have to really think about these
I actually remember Gorz, I played him back way ago when Glads were meta. I remember I was playing my Glad deck (And I was only like maybe 13 at the time) vs the new Legendary Six Sam's that were released. I ended up playing against the man who went off to take a fluke win with the deck even in I believe it was a regional later as well. I won through my Gorz shutting down his entire field and fighting back for a reverse OTK the next turn which was pretty funny. Most people didn't expect a Gorz Tech in Glads LUL I was 13 so I didn't know it wasn't really a good fit but I was told to just buy him and put him in my deck I was playing and there on out I played him in every deck. Who knew it was the right choice to take home a nice little tour for my 13 yr old self. And the guy said he was 'going easy' on me in the first round which I understand, but then after he saw my Glad plays (I only played Glads since I could only afford to put all my money into 1 deck, I was 13 ok?) he got serious in the next round which is where I took the game with Gorz. Amazing card, I miss those days.
Damn I still attack directly first with low attack monster eventhough no one plays gorz anymore...the days that droping gorz was the shit...oh man, that was a fun card for sure.
How have I never heard of skull meister? He will fit perfect in my batteryman choas and counters all of the meta right now. Saclifice? skull meister says no. Thank you so much mega cap
I was thinking maybe top ten staple spell and trap cards of all time. Not cards there were staple in decks for a format or two, but cards that were staple for years (if they got banned at some point) or cards that are a must have to this day. Although the top 2 would easily be judgment and MST lol.
Heh, Gorz xD Haven't seen him dropped in almost a year now... I still attack lowest first and have a mental image in my mind of a Gorz Drop, although it's growing more and more faint.
#8 Just to clarify, Swift Scarecrow needs to negate the attack (after being discarded) in order to the end the battle phase. It isn't nearly unstoppable as you can make it sound. #4 It is funny how you say veiler became more relevant after soul was released when it rarely (if any) sees play this format. You could have mentioned how important it was the dragon ruler format, as they were maining 3x Effect Veilers to stop their opponent key plays, and potentially locked them from plays by snychron summoning into crimson bladder and resolving its effect.
I've been considering running gorz in more stuff. It's a really good card. I just usually forget and not bother to find room. Maybe if I can trade for a ghost one I'll run it more. lol
"Number 4, Effect Veiler", "Number 2, Maxx C", "Number 2, Honest" - MegaCapitalG 2014 That Number 3 never stood a chance, and just wasn't good enough of a hand trap to make this list.
I think honest still should be number one Because although gorz is very powerful its still likely to be used only once during a game cause it isn't easy to put back in hand but honest on the other hand can be put back in hand easily after its use especially with soul charge on the loose which is run in most if not all decks, anything the special summons from the grave can easily put it back into hand and gorz requires an empty field. Just my thoughts
Might be mistaken, but I believe you recorded your outro again with the new equipment. I realize I'm probably OCD, but the pauses between words seem harsh, doesn't flow from one to the next. I think using more of a whispery tone would go a long way. Sounds like you sang softly and pretty close up to the mic...but again, I may be mistaken.
What about top 10 cards that deserve to get off the banlist? Konami's basically forgot about a lot of these old cards. Here's 12 cards that deserve to move up the banlist: Tribe-Infecting Virus Sinister Serpent Thousand-Eyes Restrict Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity Dragon Ravine Reasoning Ojama Trio One for One Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier Dark Magician of Chaos Neo-Spacian Grand Mole Gladiator Beast Bestiari
Imma go ahead and say Maxx C is better than Gorz. This is because of something my bro told me. "Duels are not decided by life points but by field advantage". By using Maxx C yes you give your opponent a choice in the matter but both options benefit you. Either A. your opponent goes along with the special summons anyway and you get draw power possibly to get exactly what you need or B. They stop the special summons and possibly leave themselves vunerable. Example? I was dueling a Karakuri back in the day and my opponent used E-teleport to grab Psychic Commander and I chained the C(oh yeah, forgot that this bitch is chainable. So sometimes your opponent can't stop the draw) and now he had a choice because if he didn't synchro summon he'd lose his commander but if he did I would get more draws. He went for it anyway and needless to say I drew just what I needed to clear his field and win the game. I'm not saying Gorz is not a good card but if your opponent is running certain archetypes like Shaddolls which are VERY popular these days, then Gorz just might not be doing much or if they use cards that bounce damage like the Amazoness Tiger or Daigusto Sphreez then having a big monster on field might actually be a hinderance. Gorz gives you power but Maxx C gives you options and your opponents fear. Especially in this new Meta with duelist Special summoning up to 5+ times per turn. TL;DR: Maxx C prolly shoulda been higher cause it gives you more options. Just my opinion.
anyone remember darkness neosphere you know 4000att 4000def that cant be destroyed by battle and can bounce traps on your side letting you lock down your opponent without any repercusions
As we said at locals, Gorz wins wars, and beats whores with doors, while drinking Coors. One a game once becuase my opponent used black ship of corn to kill my last monster, I just dropped Gorz and burned 1000 for game.
If you noticed all those cards were cards that can be run in any deck, so herald and kalut were probably not included because of that. as for rainbow kuriboh and Construction guy, they're just not that good. At least that's why I think he included the cards that he did.
I might be in possesion of some lil trap card from *Invasion of Chaos* that might cause Honest to be banned sadly... let's see if someone can figure out what that is lol... also _Honest + Vivid Knights_ *ftw* XD
I disagreed with you on Gorz til you mentioned that it caused us to attack in a specific way during the battle phase just because he exists. (Smallest attacking to biggest)
what happen to Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit? maybe a Tualatin? Typoon? Dragonic Knight? Hanewata? old school Kuriboh!! Not so much Chaos Hunter but the anti banish effect is good. Gemini imps. Droll & Lock Bird. cyber dinosaur, hedge guard. there are so many!!!!
imo, maxx>honest>dd crow>gorz. Gorz is a card that cannot be used in many decks, and is also really situational to find a time to drop. Imo, gorz is not really that game turning as if ur left with an empty field, chances are, you would have to take quite a bit of damage which is bad with soul charge meta, and gorz isnt invincible by any means. In contrast, Maxx C is at worst a way to instantly stop your opponent's momentum and catch your opponent offguard, as well as at worst, being a 1 for 1.
If you just couting Tier 1, it is 3 decks, sadly. Also, if you are counting Tier 2 and lower there are so many decks that can't compete now the other 7 would just be mostly personal opinion.
I can't believe you didn't even give honorable mention to poor little Kuriboh. Yeah, he's dated, but he was the first "activated from the hand" card. I mean, come ON here!
^
Dude I still use kiroboh he’s the best
How about a top 10 archetypes that you'd like to see expanded on. Like archetypes that you think are cool, and just want to be good but they're not.
I'm looking at you every Dino/Reptile based Archetype in existence.
My old pal Kalut gets no love around here. Oh well, that is to be expected with it being an archetype specific card just like Crane.
i know Kalut has a special place in my heart too man
The problem with Kalut and Crane is that they are archetype spesific, meaning they only work for one type of deck. That's what is stopping them from being on this list.
CobaltClaw It isn't just that they're only archetype specific it's that they are archetype specific so every time you face their deck you immediately try to play around them when the point of a hand trap is that you don't see them coming.
hurrdurrmurrgurr "It isn't just that they're only archetype specific it's that they are archetype specific" .....
Yup.
You should make a list of the top 10 decks of all time that require the most skill to play
Top 10 hyped Up cards: Almost anything AznEyes makes a separate video on
top 10 undersupported archtypes like ally of justice, cloadian, ect
Srlqulongtard This idea I like
Top10 tuners
TheSavior97 azneyes overhyped cards would be bls, tour guide, veiler, maxx c, and beaver warrior

I still attackwith the lowest first.
Mason Richards Gorz has become more of a side deck card now that it's at 3.
+Mason Richards yeah me too lol
this series is pretty cool. im amazed how much soul charge has made an impact on the meta. it's eff is so powerful, it names a format after itself o.o.

Hell yeah, Gorz!! Never had a doubt.
gorz can be pretty game changing, especially late in the game. when the boss monsters have been defeated, and you're down to your last life points, a gorz comes out, and runs over your opp's little monsters like no big problem. at this point of the game, your opp has to save their little monsters from this 2700 beatstick. their little monsters got to upgrade to big monsters. and it takes a turn for that but nope gorz is there to shrek racing all day
My Pick for #1 Hand Trap of all time: Handcuffs
I think top 10 most influential monsters or cards of all time (that changed how we play the game or why we play certain ways) for example, stardust dragon being one of the first synchros, was very influential because decks started playing weak low level monsters to make synchros whereas before we were playing beaters. Amazing card, I miss those days.
Top 10 best overlooked decks (such as karakuri, dark world, monarchs etc)
Have you done a top 10 archtype boss monsters? If not, i would like to see that
I agree with your list, except for the fact that I have honest at #1 and Gorz at #2
#1: Kuriboh
I'd like to see something like, top cards that are good but no one uses or knows about
Top ten one card combos, like tenki, tour guide, anjelly ?
D.D crows should be a little higher. He is so versatile, can be used against almost any deck and he is dark to boot.
Top Ten that needs to come of the band/limit list
Damn I still attack directly first with low attack monster eventhough no one plays gorz anymore...the days that droping gorz was the shit...oh man, that was a fun card for sure.
thank you g made my point for me lol
i am a monarch player so of course in monarch number 1 is gorz hands down
I have so many copies of Gorz!!...lol
Last time I did an inventory of my cards..... I found out that I always have every rarity of him.
Top 10 Game Changing Cards. Ones that alter how the duel is played if not negated; such as Skill Drain, Dimensional Fissure, Necro Valley, ect.
top favorite extra deck monsters
Top 10 fun decks. Mainly because I am trying to get back in the game and it's hard for me to play and find 1 fun deck
I’d love to see a remake of this list.
All of them outshined by Yuki Usagi.
Heh, Gorz xD Haven't seen him dropped in almost a year now...
I still attack lowest first and have a mental image in my mind of a Gorz Drop, although it's growing more and more faint.
CapG, Can you make a discussion video regarding about the status of current hand traps and whether they're still viable for this format?
You should do a top 10 original archtypes (Not shaddolls or qliphoths or any of that crap) Decks from years ago.
Still running 3 Gorz in my Chaos Dragons deck. Amazing otk stopper and your opponent can be sure to lose in the next turn. Well deserved 1st place.
I've been considering running gorz in more stuff. It's a really good card. I just usually forget and not bother to find room. Maybe if I can trade for a ghost one I'll run it more. lol
If Cap G only knew what terror in the shape of a giant forehead 2017 would bring...
Two no. 2 spots, G? Get it together man...
"Number 4, Effect Veiler", "Number 2, Maxx C", "Number 2, Honest" - MegaCapitalG 2014
That Number 3 never stood a chance, and just wasn't good enough of a hand trap to make this list.
I think honest still should be number one
Because although gorz is very powerful its still likely to be used only once during a game cause it isn't easy to put back in hand but honest on the other hand can be put back in hand easily after its use especially with soul charge on the loose which is run in most if not all decks, anything the special summons from the grave can easily put it back into hand and gorz requires an empty field. Just my thoughts
I've never feared Maxx "c", in fact; I'll still go off as much as possible under Maxx c.
Huh, I thought Kuriboh would at least be an honorable mention.
No rainbow Kuriboh? that guy is almost never a dead draw.
Hype card tbh.
MightyXMarc X So the card *is* dead in the hand most of the times though....
no love for kuriboh, the original hand trap? i get hes not top 10, but should have gotten an honorable mention on sheer icon status
I personally would swap honest and gorz considering the momentum an honest drop can swing into your favor but either one could be number 1imo
CapitalG, can uou post a deck profile on your Bujins?
Cap, I really enjoyed this video when you released it years ago. How about a remake?
I love rainbow kuriboh
Is both a hand trap and a graveyard trap
Somebody has to say it.
KURIBOH!!!
Now Ghost ogre, Damage juggler and Droll and Lock should be on this list
Might be mistaken, but I believe you recorded your outro again with the new equipment. I realize I'm probably OCD, but the pauses between words seem harsh, doesn't flow from one to the next. I think using more of a whispery tone would go a long way. Sounds like you sang softly and pretty close up to the mic...but again, I may be mistaken.
What about Rainbow Kuriboh?
That card is so clutch I love it
Shame this came out earlier, Ghost Ogre deserves a spot i believe
What are your thoughts on herald of orange light?
Top 10 original popular decks before people used em
don't forget lava golem that's my just add on to this list, its kinda like a hand trap I guess
i swear to god if Tragoedia isn't on this list....
ok good
I feel u underrated dd crow considering its any card not just any monster like u made it out to be
What about top 10 cards that deserve to get off the banlist? Konami's basically forgot about a lot of these old cards.
Here's 12 cards that deserve to move up the banlist:
Tribe-Infecting Virus
Sinister Serpent
Thousand-Eyes Restrict
Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity
Dragon Ravine
Reasoning
Ojama Trio
One for One
Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Dark Magician of Chaos
Neo-Spacian Grand Mole
Gladiator Beast Bestiari
need to update this :P
MegaCapitalG top 10 favorite cards of all time ?
Imma go ahead and say Maxx C is better than Gorz. This is because of something my bro told me. "Duels are not decided by life points but by field advantage". By using Maxx C yes you give your opponent a choice in the matter but both options benefit you. Probably not a top 10 but kalut is like honest for blackwing decks
My favourite hand trap is kalut!
anyone remember darkness neosphere
you know 4000att 4000def that cant be destroyed by battle and can bounce traps on your side letting you lock down your opponent without any repercusions
uhhh Kuriboh, the OG handtrap
As we said at locals, Gorz wins wars, and beats whores with doors, while drinking Coors. One a game once becuase my opponent used black ship of corn to kill my last monster, I just dropped Gorz and burned 1000 for game.
Kalut was searchable and has crazy synergy with other blackwings
Wow and bujin crane is searchable and can be used with bujin monsters? Crazy right?
And you could use more than one a turn
Where's Herald of Orange Light, Rainbow Kuriboh, and Construction Train Signal Red? Very underrated cards IMO.
If you noticed all those cards were cards that can be run in any deck, so herald and kalut were probably not included because of that. as for rainbow kuriboh and Construction guy, they're just not that good. At least that's why I think he included the cards that he did.
didnt notice effect veiler was a girl for 4 yrs till today
I might be in possesion of some lil trap card from *Invasion of Chaos* that might cause Honest to be banned sadly... let's see if someone can figure out what that is lol...
also _Honest + Vivid Knights_ *ftw* XD
I disagreed with you on Gorz til you mentioned that it caused us to attack in a specific way during the battle phase just because he exists. (Smallest attacking to biggest)
rate all worlds deck that have won, from your favorite to least , or by skill.
what happen to Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit? maybe a Tualatin? Typoon? Dragonic Knight? Hanewata? old school Kuriboh!! Not so much Chaos Hunter but the anti banish effect is good. Gemini imps. Droll & Lock Bird. cyber dinosaur, hedge guard. there are so many!!!!
I was about to say snow rabbit I would run it if it wasn't so expensive
Droll & Lock Bird?
I'll have to say Lanturn is better than Jackfrost simply because it has the same effect and then protects your ghostricks, not just your life points.
imo, maxx>honest>dd crow>gorz. Do top ten best and worst sets
Let us all remember the kuriboh
Do top 10 cards that forced decks to adapt
were was kalut the moon shadow I know its not as good as honest but 1400 atk on any blackwing can give you some options
Its only good in Blackwings so... yeah
droll and lock bird at least as an honorable mention...
Number 1 is jetroid + magic cylinder.
Herald of Orange Light > Effect Veiler
Yeah, I said it.
No hanewata?! Blasphemy!
i love gorz
All I have to say is Number 104 Masquerade.
could u have the new djinn monster in ur intro, talk to yugimation 'bout it
top 10 meta decks of the format
If you just couting Tier 1, it is 3 decks, sadly. Also, if you are counting Tier 2 and lower there are so many decks that can't compete now the other 7 would just be mostly personal opinion.
ok top 10 rogue decks then
top 10 rogue decks :d
What about the og hand trap kuriboh!!
bujingy crane, but it's only for bujins but it's good
what about rainbow kuriboh?
Today maxx c would be number 1
You said number 2 twice....
Top Ten Anti-Meta Cards
Top ten change the duel cards. ( soul charge, honest)
Umm no Herald of Orange light?
Why not do a Top 10 Strongest Generic Synchro monsters?
