Hi I love this bike I have already ridden 42 miles on it in various modes and still had 61% battery left and that was with 1400ft climbing so very pleased. 😁
Thanks for posting!! I was on the spin bike enjoying the view!
Thank you for watching 🙏 more videos coming soon :)
I have had my Creo for a year and done 7000 miles and I love it. If you want to ride like stink get a 750w Bafang which is quite exhilarating at first, but it is like riding a motorcycle whereas the Creo is you but faster. It really makes a difference by fixing the additional assistance changers on your handlebars which allows you to fully utilise the 3 assistances sequentially as required
I have an extender battery and have been achieving 70 miles combined in average temperatures of 5% C
Also I carry a combined extra weight of around 8kg of panier rack, tools, food etc and I use 38mm Marathon Plus tyres at around 900g a tyre. I weigh 158lb and recently swapped out the Dropper saddle for for a Rock shock suspension saddle that I would recommend to anyone. The cream on the cake is a Planet3 deregulator. The bike is quite a lot of money, but if you ride a lot it is the best value ever
thats amazing! 7k miles is enough to go across all the Americas haha... how did upgrade the the assistance changer? can you buy it on the specialized site? i want that control on the handlebar, my turbo levo has it but it would be really nice on the creo. i want to upgrade to a 38-40 mm tire, and one other thing I wanna do is change the chainring for a lower gear ratio for touring/backpacking (I don't care for going too fast, plus it will save on battery when you're carrying a heavy load for touring), I installed a toppeak explorer rack on it and can get a full almost a full tour load onto the back... I'm just scared to deregulate the bike since it will void the warranty, right?
@@nateums The item is a Turbo Road Remote 98921-5710
If you are in the US I think it would not be necessary to de-regulate as you have 20/28 mile max. In the UK we have 15.5mph
I did not fit it to go fast, just to avoid cut out at a ridiculously low max
You added a 750 watt motor? The factory is 325 I believe. A major concern I have is not being able get parts when electronics die. Are you saying I'm not only gonna be able to find parts but ability to install stronger motors aftermarket? I'm in America
@@SwyvCrux He didn't say any of that. The 750 watt reference is a completely different bike and motor. I have a 1700 watt Bafang Specialized I built will will ride this bike off its wheel easily. But the bike has to match the temperament of the rider. Most that ride an ebike don't have a passion for speed. I like speed.
Nice video! JHU is my Alta mata. I’m in DC. I had my Creo over one year now and my wife just got hers. Love it!
Right on! They're the best of the best you can get at the moment - you can ride with no motor just fine, or turn it on for distance, and the best is for speed :) DC has some NICE bike paths too! My favorite is the Mt Vernon trail. That trail is magical.
@@nateums Mt. Vernon is beautiful and bumpy. Never biked in Baltimore. I do come up for the Preakness (not 2020). We have a lot of trails and good roads for cycling in DC.
@@sonofsako2255 if you ever do bike Baltimore, jones falls is pretty much the only choice of a proper & protected "trail".. everything else involves road riding. DC is amazing for bike trails, I love riding there. The best parts of Vernon are the planes taking off and then the food right when you get into old town Alexandria. I miss that place...
@@nateums I’m going to have to come up and heck that out. Thanks! Check out District Cycling Collective (Strava/IG/Meetup and Facebook). I ride mostly with this group.
Nice route. Happy to see creo content. Bmore is my home city.
Thank you 🙏
Here in Australia we are on EU standards with cut out at 25 kph. Mine cuts out out at 27.4 kph. now done 12,000 kl., still love it.
I’ve found that turbo mode (climbing) uses about 3x more battery then eco mode. I just ordered the Specialized range extender battery to help relieve range anxiety; pricy at $450+tax. Thank you for posting, and safe out there.
I love that you announce your position to pedestrians and other riders. I do this as well and most folks appreciate it. I ride wilh a few that just don't bother and it always seems rude to me.
I am headed over to the bike shop this afternoon to look at the Creo. I will probably take my Trek over to see about a trade in at the same time.
great video
The most ive got is 34 mi , using sport mainly but turbo on all hills and some just for fun .but im 6 foot 3 , 220lbs
I I love this bike. I have two.
liked the video. i'd like to see more stats displayed on mission control as you ride. eg. motor power% user power% maybe idk the more the better
I know what you’re saying... I hope specialized will start displaying the power of the rider, it’s gotta be in the bike it’s just not active in the app (because it tells you % of assistance used)... I used 100% of the motor power for the whole ride though
@@nateums they do. when you go to the stats screen just hold your finger on it for a few seconds. there is a list of options to track. i use rider power and moter power. havent tried any others yet
HUGE TIP!! This is amazing, you can track like anything here!!
I have the more powerful trek Domane + HP and it is similar. I can go faster uphill but I usually stay in eco and tour. I get 50 miles or so per charge like that. I think the creo is kind of like the Domane LT in that it is for guys that want just a little help and maybe even no help on the flats. I was torn on the two but ultimately I do have some mountain ascents in my area so I opted for the more powerful motor. 28mph is too fast for most. I don't ride like that either. 15-20mph sustained is good and easily achievable in lower power modes you will still blast by your buddies unless they are racers.20-25 on the flats in eco will still make you sweat. I can only sustain 15-18 on the flats with no motor as a baseline.
Agreed, the creo is made for those who wanna put in more effort… I do like the 28mph speed though.. it’s fun if you just want to go fast that’s day 😈
Would you recommend this as a commuter? I mainly need 20 to 40 miles a day. The motor I want little assistance against hills and wind when tires and speed I need for short bursts to keep up with traffic better on the occasional stretches where major roads are unavoidable. I love how light weight these are compared to other ebikes.
I don't need it to do all the work on climbs just enough where it's obviously easier than if I had a bike with no assistance
This is the BEST commuter bike you could get. You can put a rack on the back that can hold ~50lb. You can easily get more than 20-40 miles out of this (don't forget you can get a range extender, but you wouldn't need it for your distances). This is perfect for speeding up to a good speed and then maintaining the speed too (up to 30mph), and the climbs will be around 15mph on max setting if you're not pushing hard, if you are you can easily go faster on climbs.. it will give more than enough assistance when riding, I promise you that. Don't even look at other bikes, just get the best. I also fitted a higher stem on this for more upright/comfortable sitting.
@@SwyvCrux this is exactly what you want then, you can tune it even further than factory settings on the app
I just ordered one of these bikes. Fortunately I live in Florida where there are very few climbs, so I should get much better range out of the battery. I ride bikes to keep fit, so I may try only using the battery when I'm seriously fatigued and just want to get home. I have no use for the high speeds this bike is capable of, so it's probably best to save power for steep climbs and headwinds.
i rode this in florida too, youll have a lot more range. you have the right idea of when to use the more powerful settings to save battery :)
That’s definitely still some effort.
for sure, especially if you want to maintain high speeds
Nate, what size did you get and what are your measurements? How you are you liking that color?
I got the small size bike. I’m 5’7 which is about 168-170cm tall, my inseam is 29-30in... it’s a perfect fit for me.. the color is amazing, it’s unique and not shiny which is what I wanted
@@nateums Thanks Nate, I’m 5’10”/32” so kinda between a M & L. Hate it, always between sizes. ;)
@@johnwilliamson9453 i know what you mean, had the same issue with other bikes I have.. they do have the actual frame size (not sure where but I have found it on the web before) generally its always better to go smaller and make up length with a longer handlebar stem, also the frame is based on the diverge so that might help with sizing too
@@johnwilliamson9453
Im same size as you. Bike dealer said I should ride a med.
Every other bike I own is a lrg.
Is the sound from the motor as loud live or is the mic picking it up more than usual?
it is as loud as the mic is picking up only in turbo mode (other modes are not as loud.. see my other videos for minimal motor use). However, when you're riding and have the wind and other noises coming through [to your ears] it is not as noticeable as the mic was picking up.
Is the motor really that loud? Your August 5 video doesn't have the noise level.
yes, if you're using turbo mode (100% engine power) and there is no wind noise it will be that loud. if you use the modes that have less power then it will make less noise... the eco mode (33% of engine power) has almost no noise
@@nateums Thanks for the quick reply!
It actually sounds more like gear whine from the reduction gears. I was looking at the gear set and they are straight cut gears. Noisy as all get out but efficient. If they used helical gets sets it would be a lot quieter but not as efficient. The other thing that they could do is offset 1/2 the width of the gear set. Kind of hard to explain but if they cut the gears in two and then offset one side by 1/2 the tooth width then the gears would be just as efficient but the engagement time would be twice the normal time and reduce the sound level. This approach was used in the old Honda CB and CL 350 twins from the early 70's. They made the bike quieter while allowing a 4 cycle twin produce enough power to the ground to make it as lively(in stock form) as the then available 2 stroke street bikes.
At lower power levels there is less gear noise that is why when you use the eco or power levels there is less noise. I wonder if this would be a viable 3rd party upgrade. Hmm. Do you think people would pay for a quieter get set?
Cool old homes...
after that ride, how much battery life % left ? on downhill will you be able to go really fast or theres speed limiter ?
i used 59% of the battery and had 41% battery left after this ride - ride started at 100% battery to give a range example when using turbo mode. there is a speed limiter on all electric bikes - this one is a class 3/III [in the USA], it cuts off engine power after 28mph/45kmh (after the cut off you need to pedal the bike on your own)... but you can still push the bike faster (it won't lock your breaks).. fastest I have gone down a hill was about 45mph/73kmh (but that was with my own legs)
@@nateums Thanks, very clear information.
thought our road were bad!!!
How much bike weighs؟
Greetings to you from Germany
13.6kg :)
How did you add those stats in the corner to the video?
VIRB edit , its made by garmin. you drop the gpx file in there after your ride and itll map it out
for 30 km / h average speed ; 7,64 wh/km is a good value . I have this consumption on 2012 conway e rider 250 watt trottle bike; with 24 average (30 kg bike me 75 kg) 678 wh battery end up dead 80 km. ı have 3 battery 240 km range.
that bike weight is prob what's effecting it, the creo is about half the weight... thats where is the magic is - the perfect power to weight on the creo
Dude you seem so pissed off it’s like you’ve lost the winning lottery ticket good honest review though thanks
hahaha i just wished the battery would last longer on turbo!
@@nateums Indeed. The actual (as opposed to stated) range leaves a lot to be desired. My (now sold) GoCycle GS was advertised to sport a range of 70km (which is just good enough for local rides and short commutes, but not for anything like touring). The actual range (for a 120kg rider) turned out to be 21km. That's ca. 30% of the manufacturer-claimed rage. There's another issue: the faster you ride (I am a rather fast rider), the harder the motor works (even if it yields no more than 2 or 3km extra assist). On top of that, charging the battery from depleted to fully charged, using the supposed "rapid" charger took 5+ hours!
I hope, the tech progresses fast enough that within 10-15 years from now we can have 12-13kg gravel / adventure bikes with a range of 250km with system weight of 170kg. And a 0-20% charge within 20 minutes, as is the case with EVs. I doubt that, to be honest, but very much do hope so.
…yes, but I wasn’t necessarily thinking ‘pissed off’ instead more just generally bored and slightly annoyed…
What mount do you use for your phone?
quad lock
wear out the cassette in no time, I am on my 4th chain already...12,ooo klms
Superb bike and Superb video👍🐈😍, but unbearably noisy engine🙄
Meanwhile here in the uk we are limited to a massive 15.5 mph . But your car can 140 😂😂😂
Doesn't look like the bike is assisting you much, would've love to have seen your cadence. Your legs look like they are really moving fast.
There really isn’t any getting away from that motor noise is there? Someone on an e-bike came up on me today from behind while climbing a hill and she was making that exact same noise. I could hear her coming from 100 feet away.
the noise is louder with the higher settings... but yeah you're right, the noise will be there when there isn't any other noise pollution around its apparent.... if you're on eco mode its really hard to hear though, especially on the road with road noises
@@nateums My Bafang 1700 watt BBSHD is relatively quiet...or at least not as loud as the Creo and twice as fast.
@@lukewalker1051 The Creo is a much lighter bike and much better better looking with the hidden battery. I have had a few BBSHD bikes that I built but I enjoy my Creo much more as just a road bike for getting fit. I also have a Luna Cycles X2 e-mountain bike with 3000 watt bafang motor.
Did you hack the motor?
This is the stock motor, I wanted to resell it and kept it stock due to that
No reason to spin like crazy when you have a motor helping you.
This motor is a bit weaker than the average e bike motor, so it just mimics a regular bike with a bit more power, still have to have higher cadence on hills. Also depends on rider fitness
You spin too much for an electric bike. Use a higher gear and your heart rate will be lower.
