    This is a cool idea, but from your filming it’s hard to really discern what it looks like in detail. It comes across looking primarily like an interesting white pearlescent effect. I’d be more interested in a more metallic holographic effect. Could you add some more detailed and slower images? I’ve got some 1960’s bar ware where the silver bands have lost the plating. I’ve been thinking of refurbishing it with holographic material.

    Holographic pigment works best on dark backgrounds and is more noticeable under warm lighting/sunlight... it would also work on light coloured backgrounds under "holographic preferable lighting", tbh but not as pow as on dark backgrounds. I have played with holographic pigment since 2017 and decorated squishies (yes... foam toys) with them and have currently moved on to a new crafty adventure using holographic/chrome pigments. I find that the less tacky and more glossy/smoother the glue is after it dries, the more linear the holographic effect would be. I use disposable eyeshadow applicators to buff in the holographic pigment. However, the foam on the applicator will crack, accumulate grit and disintegrate quickly after a few applications. Stuart is right, varnish is very important that it must be a glossy finish for the holographic effect to pop... and most importantly to protect the holo! :)

    Hi Stuart! Since stick stays sticky forever, what's its' adhesion to other objects like? as in, if a little bit gets on the applicator sponge while you work can it cause the powder that's in your folded paper to clump together? If that's the case a sive would probably work but I'd like to be prepared, thanks!

    • @StuartSempleArt
      @StuartSempleArt  Před 5 lety +5

      Good question! Yes it stays sticky forever BUT when it drys (after about 10 mins) it won;t come off so there's no harm of it sticking to the wand. That's why we used the specific foam we did on the wand. Just be a bit mindful of how you use the stick and don't get it places you don;t want to be sticky forever.

    Actually, holo and iridescent pigments don’t have to be on the top layer. You can seal them after they’ve been buffed in. If not, it WILL eventually get scuffed and damaged, just like on nails. I admit I don’t know what the Stick product is, but I can’t see it being helpful in preventing the pigment from being scuffed away over time. Would have liked to see those shoes your friend has been wearing for two months. Either she takes REALLY good care of her shoes, rarely wears them, or uh... there’s a fib in there somewhere.

    • @StuartSempleArt
      @StuartSempleArt  Před 4 lety
