      Bro you’ve got to read the books!!! He’s like that but not villainous. His charisma is through the roof too. He’s not embittered like he is here.

    Played by Richard Hawley, a tremendous English actor who's been established for decades. What a role!

      Thx for the info. I was thinking to see who is behind the dijkstra voice but didn’t want to ruin the character

      That's if Geralt doesn't save his friends which I believe most people choose. Djikstra was dumb to think that Geralt wouldn't protect them and he was dumb to not find another way out of that situation.

      @@meris8486 This game is a masterpiece but this quest really irks me. Firstly, Roche, Ves and Thaler agreeing to live in a vassal state under Nilfgaard rule. Ok. Then, Dijkstra, one of the greatest minds and strategists of the North, decides to threaten Geralt's friends in front of Geralt. And when Geralt in response makes it clear that he will kill everyone there to save his friends, he chooses to fight Geralt and his friends with 3 soldiers as his backup. Right.
      I first chose to save them. And then Geralt killed Dijkstra like a level 1 dog. No cutscene or anything of the sorts, just Dijkstra brazenly running towards Geralt and falling down like a sack of potatoes after 2 sword blows.
      Awesome. One of the best written characters in the game, and the questline ends with him dying like an armless mute child.
      If Roche, Ves and Thaler survive, I gain... the most disappointing quest in the game and them being alive. After the game finishes, I won't be able to see any of them again anyway.
      If Dijkstra survives, the quest ending is bitter but makes sense. He eventually becomes Redania's king, destroys Nilfgaard and reunites the North.
      Easy choice in my book, and it ain't saving Roche and company.

      @@potamochere333 I agree. It's a great quest and these are good characters right up until that moment. In a way I agree that the sacrifice of Ves, Roche and Thaler in order for the best outcome for the North is satisfying from a writing point of view. It's the idea that they were too set in there perspective to see the bigger picture that Djikstra can. It's just rushed. The guy should have tried on multiple occasions to persuade them to his perspective.
      If that still doesn't work then he could kill them discretely with poison or a volley of crossbow bolts. I just don't see Geralt going along with Djikstras plan in the current quest, nor do I see Djikstra believing he'd 'remain neutral' especially when his whole speech to recruit Geralt has him stating that Witchers only hide behind neutrality. Personally I don't like letting three characters I'm attached to die for Djikstras plan but maybe the outcome should have been out of the players control or just influenced in a different manner.

    I hate that the game puts you in such a spot at the end. You either let Dijkstra kill your friends, which is WILDLY out of character for Geralt and shouldn’t even be an option, or you kill Dijkstra, one of the most entertaining characters in the series

    • @Mrinal523
      @Mrinal523 Před rokem +8

      Not even just that, if you finish the game's main story, Dijkstra gets Novigrad under his order and the place becomes much better then under the rules of either Radovid or Emhyr. Roche is a great ally to Geralt, but sadly patriotism gets to his head and let's Emhyr take Novigrad, since Niffghard has helped with Temaria survive from the time being. Correct me if I'm wrong.
      It's such a shame that CD Projekt Red hasn't thought this through, and maybe written their endings better.

      And Djikstra wouldn't ever be that dumb: asking Geralt to choose between him and Roche. And a couple of henchmen? That was soo out of character. Would've preferred if Djikstra escaped when his plan failed and went into hiding etc.

      Yeah it was very out of character to just force Geralt like that. Djikstra should know better than to confront a Witcher. He had better chances to retreat and try again when he's ready
