    Thanks a lot. This video really helped me to keep on hoping to see clearly again in the distance in a week or so… had a +0.25 change in prescription on my progressives and it happened exactly as you explained. Up close and mid distance.. perfection… out there looking at the clouds… jeezzz… . By the way, I really like the way you communicate your content. Always informative and great to see/listen to videos.

      Glad this helped! It’s a super common issue that really never gets explained well :)
      Thank you for the kind words on the content in general as well! 🙏🏻

    This video was very helpful, on my side I did not have issues adapting to the new prescription, my eyes were exhausted, I went from +1 to +1.5 but basically I went from not wearing the +1 to start using the new prescription for the very first time, my eyes were so tired in between hyperopia and presbyopia that i also have 1.5... the 40's did catch up with me, I've got bifocals.
    I always believed that when the eyes are relax we were all having blurred vision. I had that blurriness in my vision since I have memory and what I was doing was accommodating that +1 or maybe a little more when I was younger. Great, but now we are good, we don't hate each other anymore.

      Haha it takes awhile sometimes! And usually every prescription change too. 😬. Glad you’re on the upside now though!!!

    I’ve changed plus 1 extra, now I understand why it’s a bit blurry in the distance.

    I've been having a hard time understanding why my new prescription (I have hyperopia with astogmatism) is so terrible past about 20 feet. I really appreciate your tangent explaining that this is a common issue, and the details behind it. Thank you!

      The only trouble with technical videos is pulling back enough to make it understandable and not very dry. 😂. Well, and working up topics that are useful to people :)

    I can relate at 8:42 😂 I was prescribed +1 on both eyes with a +1 Add progressive. Tried it for two weeks and hated my doc for giving me eye and brain pain each time I put those glasses on. Went back to decrease the farsighted strength 😂 he was patient but I know internally he hated me too 😂😂😂 that was seriously me at 9:50 😂

    I just got a new prescription after 3 years, and my numbers actually went down. Can this happen? I have them for distance help, my first pair 3 years ago after straining with no proper correction for a very long time, had pretty high numbers (minus obviously but roughly around 3.0 and 2.75) and now, 3 years later, my numbers are around - 1.75 & - 1.0
    I can see great close up, as usual, but distance is still a bit fuzzy unless I really focus hard. It's been less than a week of wearing them all day, so I'm not sure if I just haven't fully adjusted yet or if something was funky with my numbers..
    Any advice or suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

      Tough to say with just the info here (which I know probably sounds like a farce given the length of the post, and you did great btw, there’s just quite a bit more info I would need to really know.) at any rate, changes of “less minus” always take some time to adjust to, and it’s difficult to know whether that’s the correct change or not but in general it’s the type our brains hate (same as more plus and the hyperope I talk about). This can take up to a couple of weeks, but it is better than being over minused in the long run if that’s the case. I would have a chat with the prescribing doctor, they’ll either have you come in for a recheck or ask you to wait a little longer and report back depending on your specific circumstances (or the person answering the phone may just give you this canned answer unfortunately… see that a lot too). At any rate, the sharp everywhere except far distances gives me some faith you’re headed the right direction here, and if you were a plus rx to begin with I wouldn’t even think twice of it. Myopia is usually faster to adapt even to less minus is my concern.

    I just got glasses for the first time. and it has been horrible. I got progressive. I have zero in my left eye and a 2.25 in the right and a +1 in the bifocal. but I feel like I am floating underwater. or getting ready to step into a portal. I went back to them and they said I needed to wear them longer.

      😂😂 we all do. 🥂
      In regards to the feeling, the difference between your eyes isn’t helping, especially if the frame is larger special lenses called a slab off may be required (could be enough to use iseikonic designs in a smaller frame). But ultimately whatever option it’s going to take quite some time to adjust and be comfortable on them.

    I just got new glasses 3 days ago and beside the fact that it feels weird I have a feeling like I struggle to read movie subtitle or car plates comparing to my old ones.. I will wait a week and see how it goes but last time i changed I didnt have any problems.
    My old glasses:
    SPH - CYL - AXIS
    R: -0.25 -2.00 10.0
    L: 0.00 -2.75 175.0
    My new glasses:
    R: -0.50 -2.00 10.0
    L: -0.50 -3.00 175
    I'm worried as hell, should I be? :(

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Před měsícem

      That’s a very very minimal change… I would have a chat with whomever made your newest glasses just to be certain something isn’t off. A few days should be plenty of time to adapt to that little change.

    Thanks for the great video. I particularly liked the tip to try not to determine whether 1 or 2 is "infentismally" better.
    I had a question about fluctuations mentioned at @6:50. You said something about 26-28 but I didn't quite follow. Is 26-28 the age that vision (myopia) generally stablises for the next decade?

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03

  • @bjcruz

    If I wanted to make my SV lens into an intermediate with an add power of 1.50, how do you compute the values? Say for the right eye -0.25 -0.25 axis 130 and left eye -0.5 0.00?

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Před rokem +1

      It’s basic math. The add power directly added to the sphere power values. *however* that would be your near (16” on average) add power if written on the prescription. The intermediate would be roughly half of that to adjust for a focal length around 30 inches. Unless they’ve already written it as a distance to intermediate rx. Which is, highly unusual.

    • @bjcruz
      @bjcruz Před rokem

      So, how would the intermediate Rx be written? I am poor at math. Lol.
      -0.5 -0.25 axis 130 right
      -0.25 left
      Is that right? 😂

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Před rokem

      @@bjcruz this is where I’m going to defer and say “whoever made the prescription or is making the glasses can assist you”. If the basic math escapes, the principles at play definitely will be missed. I do this for my customers on occasion when they want something just cheap at the office so they can get something crazy cheap online. Not a huge deal for someone you work with 😎.

    • @bjcruz
      @bjcruz Před rokem +1

      @@ThatGlassesGuy03 🤓 true. Getting eyeglasses online is a lot cheaper than the brick and mortar stores. Is the quality the same? Of course not. Especially if you are used to Zeiss, Essilor or Shamir lenses.
