Not a whole lot of people enjoyed Jared Leto’s interpretation of The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad- but Leto was quick to rebound from that and get cast in a Sony Marvel project… which then got delayed several years. Now, in 2022, the world is finally ready to see… Morbius.
Morbius definitely raises a few questions. Like why were so many Spider-Man references in the trailers but then not in the movie? Why does bat DNA give him such sculpted abs? Is this the most bloodless vampire movie ever? What happened to that little girl? Why is his assistant/love interest a vampire now? Wasn’t Morbius going to take out Milo AND himself?

It had its flaws but over all a solid 7/10. It really just needed more time to flesh out the movie was to short and every scene was to quick. But Matt Smiths character saves what this movie had lmao. Id watch it one a discount day if ur theater has on (which i did) and have ur own opinion

I think the worst part is knowing they could have made a way better movie. With less money.

I feel that says a lot about the film and the amount of care put into it 😅
The biggest 'wtf' moment for me in Morbius was when Morbs needed a quick fix for blood. He got super lucky though as he was walking down the streets. A couple of paramedics were on scene at an apartment, and they were carrying blood with them (which I'm pretty sure paramedics would rarely ever just happen to have on them?) And even more fortunately, they enter the home while leaving the blood super conveniently outside on the front steps. They very easily could have continued carrying the cooler into the building with them, but they decided to leave packets of blood completely unattended like a Mark Rober glitter-bomb package.
It's also weird, because this is framed as a 'morally good' way for Morbs to get his fix, as he can just swipe the blood, not having to murder anyone. ....But I suspect that in taking that blood, he probably just killed whoever it was intended for.

the scene when he's talking to people had me on the edge of my seat, but then he said it.. "you won't like me when I'm morbin" and I literally fell off my chair along with several other movie goers, we all rose to our feet and gave a standing ovation. a truly unprecedented, incredible moment in film history.

The accuracy in these meetings is stunning!
Apparently the studio added the Spider-Man references to the trailers without the director’s input, which is why they weren’t in the movie itself.
So very much false advertising.
@@AschaVovina It's always hard to know how much of the blame should actually be put on Sony rather than the individual director. Just like with WB and the DCU. In both cases there is obvious massive interference from the suits.

When I first saw "Milo" I was like, what's the Doctor doing here?! I know, Matt Smith finished doing the show nearly a decade ago, but he still looks like the same goofy Doctor we all love.
It doesn't help that he didn't bother to change his character or even hairstyle.

I love how Leto says he has to act insane and be awful to his coworkers while method “acting” to get his “best” performance and then he’s consistently the worst part of awful movies

The other thing that bugged me about vulture showing up was that he's also now ripped away from his family. Like obviously that's not how Dr Strange's spell is supposed to work, but beyond that he seems pretty chill for a man who no longer has any access to his wife or child being out of prison as he is

2) Tests it on himself
3) Becomes a superhero
4) Friend does the same thing

6) Friend or love interest is being followed but somehow ends up alone with hero for a talk.
Are there any clichés that aren't in this thing or other clichés in this thing that I missed?
1. Medical scientist has an affliction.
2. Think bats don't have this problem
3. Thinks injecting a bat serum is a good idea.
4. It is not.
5. Brilliant doctor is transformed.
6. Doctor is now a vampire but a living blood drinker, not an undead one.
7. Doctor also gets super strength (which bats don't have), flying (which is much easier when you're bat sized) and radar and a drinking problem.
Is it the story of Morbius, created by Marvel in 1971?
Nope, Kirk Langstrom / Manbat, created by DC a year earlier.
7. PG-13 for broader appeal which does NOT suit the potential darkness of the material.

I actually want to see the porn version of this plot. That's what was missing for me in this movie. Not enough tits and ass to distract me from the horrible script.

First, I'm going to need you to get all the way off my back about the clichés
One thing I've always said about the Pitch Meeting series is, between the catch-phrase lines that provide the structure of each episode, the humor is derived from 100% valid criticisms of individual movies and the industry as whole.
@VaderxG "our species" has many that has no interest in fine tuning our capacity to describe, articulate, and explain our world. They give us over produced dung because that what many want. Or the repetition of catchphrases.
Just keep in mind that almost every movie has a bunch of minor flaws that we simply choose to ignore in order to enjoy the story (known as suspension of disbelief). I love these pitch meetings, but I would be hesitant to consider them valid movie criticism. It's entertainment that highlights continuity errors and the like and display them in a biased negative light. This could probably be done to your favourite movie as well, no matter how great the acting or cinematography or editing, etc.

@@SatieGnossienne It depends. I mean, there's suspension of disbelief and downright bad writing or acting or something. Sometimes plotholes and continuity errors are too big to ignore. Between all the gags he definitely hits on some valid points. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy the movie of course.

The good movies just know to limit them below a certain threshold so that it won't bother most of us (excluding the sort of people looking to nitpick :P).
True, he's covered a lot of movies at this point, so makes sense that someone's favourites have been given the pitch meeting treatment. I think my personal top movies are perhaps too "boring"/serious to make fun of, although I'm scared of making it sound like I'm challenging him.... :O

I'm not sure what my favorite lines are from this series beyond the obvious. I think it's "I don't know" said with a smile. "Unclear!" is a close second. This is marvelous--the worse the movie, the better the pitch meetings!

@@dansheffield4021 Pretty sure it's got one of the shittiest scripts in recent history.
Problem is: a lot of the problems are only easy to see when the movie's done. So, ironing out the flaws can go from just small corrections in editing to rewriting the script of the film (aka requiring so much reshooting and effects to be done all over again). It's a nice idea, but doesn't usually work in practice (and test screenings basically cover a lot of that, anyway)
I swear they don’t even give a shit if it’s bad, as long as it rakes in loads of at the box office on release then they’re happy.
Morbius has become such a meme that when he said the characters name is Dr. Michael Morbius I just burst into laughter.
Kept waiting for a "it's morbin time" joke. Imagine my heartbreak when I discovered the line is never actually said in the movie. One minute silence for this earth-shattering revelation.

Lots of bats have pretty wimpy rear legs, mostly for hanging or climbing.
Vampire bats can actually run faster on ground than nearly any other bat. As bats go, they are pretty jacked.

I get that with supernatural-origin vampire characteristics, you just have to go with it, but if a vampire story is gonna be all scientific and base it on vampire bat DNA, then it makes no sense for the hybrid dude to need human blood exclusively. Vampire bats aren’t cannibals and they feed on all kinds of critters. He could just buy the drained off blood from a beef processing company.
Can they finally abandon using science themes for superpower origins, just say instead that the cause is magic. This way i don't have to cringe every time i hear some pseudoscientific explaination

@@rafradeki The scientific angle is essential for Morbius though, hence the title "The Living Vampire". He isn't literally a vampire. Mainly known as a Spider-Man villain he kinda has to be a scientist, since Spidey's stories most times revolve around what happens when science goes too far (Doc Ock, Lizard, Green Goblin)

I was one of the first people who ever saw the Morbius trailer, and it looked amazing, but then I constantly heard about it getting delayed and then after it came out I only heard people memeing about how bad it was. I have not seen the movie and I have no desire to because I don’t think I could handle my disappointment after the bar was set so incredibly high.
