Jared Leto wasn't a bad casting idea in theory .If they ever did a live version, I've always felt it'd be ideal to cast an actor who also happens to be a musician, or a metal musician who can act a little. But I had a feeling this was going to be a disaster. Morbius has always been a favorite of mine. Vampires are one of my favorite genres. When he first appeared in the comics and in the Spider-Man animation, I was a fan. "Oh no," I thought when I saw this trailer.
I have no idea what happened with that rooftop. I thought the rush of wind was from Tyrese and he was being teased as a mutant or some other Spider-Man character that I don’t know. But like the little girl Morbius put in the medical coma it was just…abandoned and forgotten about. It would explain how Tyrese moved up the stairs as fast as Morbius could.
When is Hollywood/Marvel gonna learn that you canNOT take a tortured anti hero that is known for being hyper, sometimes almost disturbingly violent (Wolverine, Venom, Carnage, Morbius, etc), cram it and chop it into a PG13 character, and expect to get the same reaction as the original.
I'm getting so sick and tired of people defending movies like this by saying "It's not that bad" or "It could've been worse". If we continue to settle for mediocrity, then that's ALL we will ever get. Do not support movies like this. Give your money to a studio or director that actually puts love and effort into their stories.
Morbius knows how to link up with bats after researching about it, whereas Milo didn’t. Vulture wants to team up with antiheroes to do some good, not go after Spider-Man. He only mentioned Spider-Man as having something to do with how he got there.
Lots of MCU haters like to claim that No Way Home's widely revered quality is more due to Sony's hand on the project rather than Marvel Studios'. Morbius is yet another reminder of how laughable that logic is. Into the Spider-Verse may be beloved, but the live action stuff might even discourage Andrew Garfield from ever finishing his trilogy.

Morbius can't seem to catch a break when it comes to representing his vampirism. I also remember because of the heavy censorship in the 90's cartoon he wasn't allowed to feed like a vampire, instead he had these holes in his hands that "drained" life force from his victims and Truly a compelling struggle - a vampire trying to survive in a world where nobody bleeds. How metaphorical.
I actually liked that Morbius. It's kind of like Two-Face, how investment in his character before he turned into a villain is what stuck with me. I liked Morbius's personality in that show, and I liked how he didn't look like a typical suave vampire, but rather a pasty-faced, bat-nosed freak with some cool duds and luscious locks.
Genisys was cool for the opener. Seeing those buildings built out of Steel and reinforced concrete crumble to a nuclear weapon was awesome and scary. Other than that the movie was blah. 🙂
I agree, ever since I found out that the dude literally runs a cult, and how he wanted to stop the production of joker, I have despised him, that's a some big ego bullshit. Don't get me wrong, he was great in Requiem for a dream, he actually tried to act in that that, and he was great in fight club too, mostly cause he has no lines and got his face busted, but other than two movies I haven't seen any other movie where he stood out.

I waited for eternals to come to disney+. I went in thinking it was going to suck because of some reviews i read/saw. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really liked it. The action was great. The big twist completely caught me off guard.

I just watched Velocipastor knowing it's a horrible movie but I was entertained. It's a horrible movie that will make you laugh because of how horrible it is. With all the punk/emo music, the horrible script, acting and low budget effects.
That one scene with his first experience with the wind, I interpreted it being him not being fully accustomed to his powers, like this is the first time he is running at a full sprint and can't stop himself fully on the (graveled) roof(?), which leads to him sliding as he attempts to stop himself at full speed. Then again, I watched in 360p cam quality, lmao. So a lot of the bad cgi didn't look as bad for me because I didn't see it normally. Yar har.
19:35 I think Joe hit the nail on the head. I genuinely do not think that the studio had any remote interest in this movie and this was just a cash grab. You don't hire the screenwriters that have taken massive losses on their previous films and expect to hit paydirt. Making what should obviously be an R-rated movie into a PG-13 was stupid enough, but they are literally banking on their viewers being the type to say, "well, there are worse ways to kill 2 hours".
Sadly the joker didn't do well enough to show them there is a market for R ratings in movies for adults so they tone things down to get the "wider" market (same issue in horror movies) and it doesn't work because the concept wants an R rating to fulfil its potential.

Not saying an R rating makes a film automatically good but certain characters/concepts work best with that rating and freedom to show violence and blood. I love Alex's condescension, with a caveat (9:45 - 11:00) . I can empathize with his frustration with the casual moviegoer who would give this film a higher rating than it deserves. For the casual moviegoer, who only sees films a few times a year, their threshold for what is entertaining is far lower than for someone who sees films frequently, and who is familiar with every trope. There is nothing wrong with that. It is when that same casual moviegoer gets angry at critics for not having the same low bar for movies that they do, that such condescension is deserving.

Movies like Venom & Morbius should be rated R with a lot of blood & disembowelment, especially Morbius. This movie should've been a tragedy like "The Fly". He's become a monster in trying to cure a disease, a cure he seeked out not only for himself but humanity. There's a good story there, it's just these writers are trash.

There should be a time when Marvel and Sony isnt so afraid of the rating system and just give the characters the respect they deserve Morbius's first ever big screen debut - and they basically turned it into a kid action flick, where the vampirism mythos isnt even done right
I don't think he's an awesome actor, I think his pretentiousness leads him down the path of doing these big lead characters and the film flopping. He thinks he's better than he is, you can tell he wants to give off a daniel day lewis method acting vibe but it just falls flat so often.
I noticed some sort of connection between the vampire design in this movie and of that in Witcher 3 blood and wine (Regis, Detlaff). Even the underground location in the last fight reminds me of Tesham Mutna location 😅

Fair warning, I haven't seen this movie. I actually thought it looked okay in the trailers and wanted to watch it, but then first reviews started coming out and I realized I was right not to jump on it. But hearing Joe try to explain why Morbius can control bats with a harp is the perfect example of why Sony shouldn't be making these dumb antihero movies. Let people who know what they're doing tell these stories.

I work at a movie theatre and our pre sold numbers for a movie are usually between 100-200 for a good movie (the Batman, no way home), our opening weekend for morbius is slated to have 15 people TOTAL for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so much for all the hype…
Down here in Australia, this came out on the same day as Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Yet, in spite of the latter having an actual dedicated fanbase and plenty of hype, Morbius has over twice as many screenings everywhere. You know, this film that next to no one seems to even give a damn about. Methinks the cinemas might be taking a hit on this. But hey, maybe people will show up en masse, and it’s just that the general public never buys tickets in advance.

Wouldn't want the cops because they want revenge, wouldn't want Spiderman because they want a professional. Boom: now we have Kraber tracking and hunting and Morbius gets more CGI budget for himself

The two cops always came off like a Key and Peele bit. The biggest failure of this movie for me was the messed up flow: It was simultaneously rushed, because the scenes were just stitched together without proper setup or transition (like "We need to go to international waters!" CUT *International Waters*), and at the same time dragged like heck. It takes a goddang hour until he's Morbius and the movie is 104 minutes. I did like the CG (outside the final fight, at least) and the acting, though.
From what I gather after watching everyones reviews of this movie, it seems that no one in the production of this took any interest in it being an interesting film. I dont read the comics of Morbius so I cant say I am a fan or understand the appeal, but I can say I have an interest to see how the character connects with the rest of the cinematic universe. I guess I'll watch the film to see it for myself but it does not look too good.

Jared Leto wasn't a bad casting idea in theory .If they ever did a live version, I've always felt it'd be ideal to cast an actor who also happens to be a musician, or a metal musician who can act a little. But I had a feeling this was going to be a disaster. Morbius has always been a favorite of mine. Vampires are one of my favorite genres. When he first appeared in the comics and in the Spider-Man animation, I was a fan. "Oh no," I thought when I saw this trailer.
I have no idea what happened with that rooftop. I thought the rush of wind was from Tyrese and he was being teased as a mutant or some other Spider-Man character that I don’t know. But like the little girl Morbius put in the medical coma it was just…abandoned and forgotten about. It would explain how Tyrese moved up the stairs as fast as Morbius could.
When is Hollywood/Marvel gonna learn that you canNOT take a tortured anti hero that is known for being hyper, sometimes almost disturbingly violent (Wolverine, Venom, Carnage, Morbius, etc), cram it and chop it into a PG13 character, and expect to get the same reaction as the original.

Lots of MCU haters like to claim that No Way Home's widely revered quality is more due to Sony's hand on the project rather than Marvel Studios'. Morbius is yet another reminder of how laughable that logic is. Into the Spider-Verse may be beloved, but the live action stuff might even discourage Andrew Garfield from ever finishing his trilogy.

Morbius can't seem to catch a break when it comes to representing his vampirism. I also remember because of the heavy censorship in the 90's cartoon he wasn't allowed to feed like a vampire, instead he had these holes in his hands that "drained" life force from his victims and Truly a compelling struggle - a vampire trying to survive in a world where nobody bleeds. I actually liked that Morbius. It's kind of like Two-Face, how investment in his character before he turned into a villain is what stuck with me. I liked Morbius's personality in that show, and I liked how he didn't look like a typical suave vampire, but rather a pasty-faced, bat-nosed freak with some cool duds and luscious locks.
I thought the suction hands were pretty cool, helped him stand out from typical vampires that feed with fangs.

Genisys was cool for the opener. Seeing those buildings built out of Steel and reinforced concrete crumble to a nuclear weapon was awesome and scary. Other than that the movie was blah. 🙂

I waited for eternals to come to disney+. I went in thinking it was going to suck because of some reviews i read/saw. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really liked it. The action was great. The big twist completely caught me off guard.

I just watched Velocipastor knowing it's a horrible movie but I was entertained. It's a horrible movie that will make you laugh because of how horrible it is. With all the punk/emo music, the horrible script, acting and low budget effects.
That one scene with his first experience with the wind, I interpreted it being him not being fully accustomed to his powers, like this is the first time he is running at a full sprint and can't stop himself fully on the (graveled) roof(?), which leads to him sliding as he attempts to stop himself at full speed.
Then again, I watched in 360p cam quality, lmao. So a lot of the bad cgi didn't look as bad for me because I didn't see it normally. Yar har.

I love Alex's condescension, with a caveat (9:45 - 11:00) . I can empathize with his frustration with the casual moviegoer who would give this film a higher rating than it deserves. For the casual moviegoer, who only sees films a few times a year, their threshold for what is entertaining is far lower than for someone who sees films frequently, and who is familiar with every trope. There is nothing wrong with that. It is when that same casual moviegoer gets angry at critics for not having the same low bar for movies that they do, that such condescension is deserving.

Movies like Venom & Morbius should be rated R with a lot of blood & disembowelment, especially Morbius. This movie should've been a tragedy like "The Fly". Fair warning, I haven't seen this movie. I actually thought it looked okay in the trailers and wanted to watch it, but then first reviews started coming out and I realized I was right not to jump on it. But hearing Joe try to explain why Morbius can control bats with a harp is the perfect example of why Sony shouldn't be making these dumb antihero movies. Let people who know what they're doing tell these stories.

I work at a movie theatre and our pre sold numbers for a movie are usually between 100-200 for a good movie (the Batman, no way home), our opening weekend for morbius is slated to have 15 people TOTAL for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so much for all the hype…

Down here in Australia, this came out on the same day as Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Yet, in spite of the latter having an actual dedicated fanbase and plenty of hype, Morbius has over twice as many screenings everywhere. If I wrote this movie, I'd have put Kraber as the villain. Maybe Morbius killed a wealthy person's son or daughter scientist and the parent hires Kraber. Wouldn't want the cops because they want revenge, wouldn't want Spiderman because they want a professional. Boom: now we have Kraber tracking and hunting and Morbius gets more CGI budget for himself

Just like Venom, Sony had some amazing chances of making some R rated action/horror with these characters. But they wanna pull in as much money as possible, so they go for pg13, which just disappoints everyone.

@@treswolves5512 you missed my point, those movies had insane hype and actual passion behind them, it’s the lazy movies with studio interference that usually default to being cut/watered down to ensure they make a profit. I know full well how successful R rated superhero movies and movies in general can be.

Morbius is one of the few movies I've seen that was more boring than anything - to include the bad plot, special effects or acting. I doubt this director will ever get a major motion picture again. Sony took a hit on this one.
If I remember correctly Vultures suit was made from the chitauri technology he found. So where the fuck did he find a chitauri in the Sonyverse?! XD

I'm a manager at a movie theater. I could literally get me and up to 8 other people in to see this movie for FREE and ontop of that get the concessions at a 50% discount. But I still can't be bothered to watch it.
I was trying to tell my co-workers 3 months ago that this movie was gonna flop but no one believed me
I work at a movie theater too, my friend said he wanted to see this and I told him I wasn’t wasting passes on it; two days later the reviews dropped and he agreed with my decision 🤣

@@noneoftheabove5816 Considering Elden Ring also launched as a buggy mess, and FromSoft still hasn't patched the actual issues with the game (more specifically, the technical issues), I don't think they're exempt from the rule either. Does it deserve GOTY? Maybe, but that's not saying much. Still waiting on FromSoft to patch the fucking game before playing more of it. Runs worse than Halo Infinite.

The two cops always came off like a Key and Peele bit.
The biggest failure of this movie for me was the messed up flow: It was simultaneously rushed, because the scenes were just stitched together without proper setup or transition (like "We need to go to international waters!" CUT *International Waters*), and at the same time dragged like heck. It takes a goddang hour until he's Morbius and the movie is 104 minutes.
I did like the CG (outside the final fight, at least) and the acting, though.

Best part about this film was Matt Smith. He is one of my favourite actors. Always a brightspot in any movie/series

From what I gather after watching everyones reviews of this movie, it seems that no one in the production of this took any interest in it being an interesting film. I dont read the comics of Morbius so I cant say I am a fan or understand the appeal, but I can say I have an interest to see how the character connects with the rest of the cinematic universe. I guess I'll watch the film to see it for myself but it does not look too good.
