Daikin DZ17VSA Series Minisplit with Full Size Air Handler Not Communicating Intermittently. EP152

- On this call I had a Daikin Minisplit that would intermittently lose communication with the outdoor unit causing it to not recognize the outdoor equipment. After checked the comm wires I found a total of 3 splice with 3 different type of wire. According to the Manuel this should work but tech support has other ideas. In this video I ended up removed all the splices and running a new comm wire.

The company who installed that Daikin system has no clue what they are doing. You have to take a certification class to be able to buy and sell these Daikin systems. Good job making things right. Keep up the great work. Cheers

That system is going to be problematic due to the proximity to that wall in the front and the Back. Also the shielding in the cable going to the outdoor unit must be grounded on the outdoor unit only and not on the indoor side so it does not create an antenna for the communication system..

I have to wonder if the wall directly in front of that ODU is going to be a problem for air flow…😅

Good catch! Question, on aircraft shielded wire we have to continue the shield ground (they call it a drain wire) across a break in the cut in the cable, do they recommend,the same break you have in it inside the air handler?
All communication wiring should be shielded wire with no splicing this is why assholes should not be installing equipment if you don't know what your doing

Great video ! I have a question . Am I supposed to have resistance to ground on my contactor coil 24v with the wires plugged in
Or should there be no resistance to ground / O.L when I check the coil side
What is shielded wire? What differentiates than a normal 14 gauge thermostat wire?
The wire is shielded from electromagnetic interference. Regular tstat wire is not.
No you don't twist communication wire together. Communication wire is know as a bus totally different from tstat wiring
