    I have this thermostat, here's what I don't like. It doesn't show the humidity, even though I use it to control my Honeywell steam humidifier. And it only allows 5% increments to control the humidity. When using gas as your auxiliary heat, you don't know when it's being used. I have a Fit, my cutoff to stop the heat pump and use gas is manually configured at -15C; but I don't know when the system has switched to gas. The Nest on my previous Lennox showed me all that information. Wish I had the option of using any thermostat. The Fit is a great heat pump; but not a fan of the One.

      It’s a common complaint and I have the one as well in our office and home and notice the same thing on our humidifier. It will show the humidity on the app, I don’t use the thermostat that often but it doesn’t show it on the Home Screen. They just came out with a redesign that’s probably a lot nice

      Same here. I am starting to hate this thermostat. Just got a new system installed two days ago and the heat/cool modes are a pain to get it to reach the goal temps. Still learning it…if it does not meet my desires, I will put another ecobee. I have an ecobee on my first system and it has been spot on.

    I just had my Daikin system installed (Daikin DZ6VS). The Daikin One thermostat is a downgrade from my Nest. Aside from the clunky interface and the inability to share controls with my wife, the biggest issue is the limit of only 4 schedule events per day. My wife works from home and we have time of day power metering with peak pricing in the afternoon. Our schedule is more complicated than 4 schedule events. Nest allows for scheduling on 15 minute intervals all day long. The schedule function is simple programming. Daikin has no excuse to limit scheduling to 4 events.

    • @TheHVACDopeShow
      @TheHVACDopeShow  Před 2 měsíci

      The thermostat is really the only complaint we get on the Daikin Fit, is there no way to add more events? That does seem like an odd limitation… I personally don’t use scheduling and just kind of use it on demand from my phone but I could see how that would be limiting

    @The HVAC Dope Show, “CTK04 does NOT have built-in WiFi functionality”? I’m surprised by your comment. The CTK04 looks remarkably like my Honeywell RTH9580 WiFi Color Touchscreen Programmable Thermostat which I have had for eons. Calibration settings it’s in the installer settings in the menu…. Technically go to installer settings and click the little “i” logo and that’s your code to login to the thermostat… then you can change the calibration to up or down 3 degrees or whatever you need and it will change the display temp to match the right temp.

    I dont even have the fan option on mine. I do have fan speed under circulate air if set to on, but not on the main. My AC company can't get the darn thing calibrated properly. Humidity levels go as high as 61% when my old system would be at 46%.

    • @TheHVACDopeShow
      @TheHVACDopeShow  Před rokem

      Sounds like maybe adjust the target humidity setting. You should have the fan option under circulate air which is normal (sounds like what you’re referencing), but overcool to dehumidify is an option and you just set your target humidity. We have low humidity in Colorado so it’s the opposite issue, we run humidifiers in the winter.

My guess is that the humidity setpoint there are 50 or 60% ? But I have no idea because it’s such a different climate from Colorado. I own a Daikin heat pump (AC and heating) here in Los Angeles, California. The Daikin One thermostat wheel is a total disaster, useless, clunky, slow. It is an embarrassment to Daikin as a company. My advice: this wheel is so bad, don't buy a Daikin system. Even if the rest of the system is good, you'll be stuck with this giant non-functioning wheel on your wall that your wife will strongly dislike. And you can't get a different thermostat either: if you go with Daikin, you're stuck with this thermostat.

    • @TheHVACDopeShow
      @TheHVACDopeShow  Před rokem

      Yes 61 for heating is annoying it’s kind of weird, and 64 for AC has to do with design limitations of the actual refrigerant. Once the temperature inside your home hits 64 the refrigerant (410a) is kind of at its design limits so past that point it’s not able to really absorb a lot of heat in the home. 64 is pretty chilly but most VRV products can handle 62~63 set points… but it is not efficient and will normally run constantly on full blast trying to hit set point in the summer
