For $250, you could buy yourself and 5 of your friends a copy of Helldivers.
Or more economically, 4 Super Citizen editions for yourself and three friends, and have $10 bucks leftover for a meal later.
@@emoment1088what meal are you affording for $10? a piece of gum out of a bubble gum machine and a slice of bread?

Or two new tires. I just had to spend about that much on two tires since i had them blow out last week.
It’s insane how little respect BSG has for their loyal player base. I think this is genuinely the end of tarkov. We’ve finally escaped boys.
I bought the EoD edition back in 2017 when they promised wiping would someday come to and end now you have these annoying fans who love the wipes. I hate them and feel it's a waste of my life to keep grinding the start over and over. It's the same as a seasonal WoW character, a dumb idea.

I escaped years ago. Game has been awful for as long as I can remember.
Have bad a bunch of people trying to get me to get it. I'm glad I never did. The whole not on steam and some random Russian never sat well with me. And that's not even a valid or reasonable take.
Ehh, i think people will whine and pay
Lead dev Nikita literally had a GDC panel about how to get away with not holding promises to player base, and his first advice was to use early access cos its allow to change everything without legal repercussions cos technically game isnt finished product and you are selling not a product but sneak peak
Yes, Tarkov is structurally impossible to have a "final version" day. The core of this game is the player's growth process, not the outcome. If everyone reaches max level, the game is over. This sapling has been crooked since birth and can never grow into a towering tree. BSG is definitely aware of this and they can't find a way forward. I guess they may have already decided to abandon long-term operation of Tarkov. I heard they already have a new game in the works, so it all makes sense. Break free from the constraints of Tarkov, squeeze out every penny possible, and then abandon it all to develop the next one. Quite logical, isn't it?
@@kenwei8434yeah I’ve been checked out of Tarkov for years now because I heard Nikita has his heart into a “new” game, so that means he will do anything to kill his current game and move on to something else.
He has all the money in the world so actual loyalty and respect is something he won’t care about, especially because he’s Russian and their entire countries ethos is “screw over your fellow man”

This is a blessing in disguise, gamers chance to show they still hold some cards. Let the game die completely in record speed, never touch bsg products again. Forget them completely and the messeage will be sent, and it will burn the hand of the reciver.
the problem with that is that it is actually a pretty good game and the best in the genre at the moment. thats why this situation sucks. Because they could get further funding by other less scummy means, its a shame they shoot themselves in the foot this way

@@teamfamza9821 Fair, I can agree that $150 is ludicrous for a game in "beta", but continuing to play a one-time purchase game doesn't mean you support the company, considering they get nothing else out of you. I would suggest that you don't get involved with the administration politics of every interest you have, it will slowly consume you and you'll hate everything.

BSG is just ahead of their time. We all know one day every AAA(or AAAA lol) video game company is going to do this one by one.
When shtf in 2020 did any of u pay attention? Irony
In some places it's like: monthly rent = tarkov
Like it's literally a quarter of minimal pay per month. I can get groceries for that month in around the same amount of money. Get my car filled with gas from empty to full 5 times and drive it for 3 months. I can get that, or get tarkov to play co-op solo, because nobody out of my friends will get it to play it too, since it's just a bonkers price tag.
I wanted to add something here. The guy on stream said that the games are taking exponentially more to make, which isn't entirely true considering the tools are WAY better. But also, the supply of a game is infinite, it cost them no more money to sell to 2 compared to 1 person. And there is at least 100x more gamers than there was in lets say the 90's, probably MUCH more than that, I'd be willing to bet it's 1000s of times higher.
ON THE UPSIDE, as stupid as this is, he is right that cheating is almost impossible to stop, but one surefire way to prevent it is to charge 250 for your game so that when you ban a cheater they're gone for good lol.
2024: $250 for a game.... 2028: $1000 for "unique" armbands

$250 is a special price point companies have started using this year (from what I noticed). Mobile games in particular use this specific number based on metrics and how much they think they can milk from people. When loot boxes became illegal in different countries, companies started employing this $250 magic number (specifically Chinese game developers). I wonder if there’s a correlation here…
Its literally pay to win. Like AI will shoot at you less if you pay for it is absolutely insane
Not entirely. There's some negatives to having that item equipped. You also need to have 6+ fence trader rep which takes time to get. You also lose fence rep for harming scavs as a pmc and you get half exp for killing scavs as a pmc when that item is equipped. But having scavs not shoot you from 60+ meters does make you more stealthy which is a pvp advantage.
@alexandern5296 not entirely? It's literally stated on their website wtf are you going on about.

It's downright pathetic that they claim you can "play offline" with your friends. That's a stupidly bold faced lie. You MUST BE ONLINE and connected to the internet to play with friends. You can't be offline unless you're in the same room on the same console and it's a game that supports split screen or local multiplayer like Super Smash Bros or the Mario Kart/Party games. Who in their worthless company thought this was worth $250?
What you're saying is the key point indeed. BSG's decision to remove the EOD version has only one purpose: the EOD version promised free DLC in the future. Now, it's evident that BSG needs to make more money from DLC, so they removed the EOD version and introduced a more expensive version that doesn't include DLC.
In my view, BSG may have already decided to abandon Tarkov. After all, as a pay-to-play game, players only pay once, but BSG has to provide servers and maintenance services permanently.
Even if the game sells at a high price, there will always be a day when expenses exceed costs. Unless they sell monthly or seasonal passes like COD and Ubisoft, but we all know BSG's technical capabilities are not strong enough to handle more content updates.
So, from a financial perspective, it's more in line with BSG's interests to decisively abandon Tarkov, squeeze out every penny possible, and then invest in the next game, creating a game that can generate continuous income
Uhh? I have offline mode with friends..
> You MUST BE ONLINE and connected to the internet to play with friends

This is not a first time, Mush dash, a rhythm game, had a bundle called "just as planned", where they stated all future dlc would be included. They later introduced a dlc that's not included within this bundle.
After player backlash, they walked back the announcement. Players bought this bundle can still have all dlcs, but they no longer offer this bundle to new players. Instead new players can buy a downgraded version of this bundle, which offers almost all dlcs, but with some exceptions.
What dlc was that? I must have missed that mess, only saw that Just As Planned was getting pulled from the store, but by that point it said that everything for owners of it would continue as normal going forward.
@@olmstranger Miku collab i believe
This is why I'll give hi rez slot of credit their God pack was honored for years and years even though I'm sure they wouldve made alot more by selling gods individually. It's only now with Smite 2 that they finally are making players pay again.
One of my friends plays this and said Unheard would change your account type from EoD (he was complaining he would lose a crown or somrthing). I think in the long term their hope is to get everyone "upgraded" to this package, drop a bunch of dlc, and claim nobody is eligible because they're in Unheard.
I think Ark or Borderlands might have done a season pass like this on release, then changed the wording to a specific amount of dlcs and released another pass or unincluded content. Except in those passes you actually do get a number of dlcs and do save a lot of money buying the pass. Here they just give you the middle finger.
The biggest issue is that EOD players were told they'd get access to all subsequent DLC, such as the offline coop mode, but they're not.
250$ for an offline co-op version of the same game? Who the fuck does this studio think they are?
Simple version; They're struggling for cash and this is their pump and dump attempt..
and i thought ubisoft were bad,
lmao ikr glad i never bought this at the first place
The thing is.... The biggest draw of an offline co-op version is that the live pvp version is FULL of cheaters. The cheating problem has gotten so bad that playing solo against scavs is meant to be a selling point of a $250 bundle.
I’d love to play this but even if I paid 250$, I really don’t think I could convince my friends to do the same. Who wants to play this alone, makes no sense….
There's no wiggling their way out of this after all that has happened.

Unheard is effectively a replacement for an older version of the game which cost about $150, "Edge of Darkness." Edge of Darkness was billed as "get every update/expansion/DLC for Tarkov." Now they changed the deal: EOD does not include all the stuff in "Unheard." Unheard by itself costs $250 and if you have EOD in order to get the features in Unheard you gotta pay an additional $100.
Moreover, there is an unauthorized version of the game called "Singleplayer Tarkov" SPT. SPT has been around for years. SPT _REQUIRES_ users to own a legit, paid-for version of EFT to run (it is not piracy, though admittedly it is a breach of TOS). SPT allows you to play offline in singleplayer mode (though no coop). SPT runs just as well or better than EFT. There are many mods for SPT which allow the user to expand and adjust the game as they please. Effectively SPT is 97.5% of the joy of Tarkov: but with ZERO of the bullshit of Live Tarkov (cheaters, long queue times, grindy game mechanics that can be modded to the users tastes). There is a graphics mod for SPT which improves performance AND appearance of the game dramatically. There are no other players in SPT, all opponents are Bots. Those Bots are BETTER than the ones in Live (and in Unheard) and in some ways even more challenging than non-cheating players.
And all of this takes place after the "Wiggle That Killed Tarkov" saga from about a year ago in which a player bought cheats and demonstrated how pervasive cheating is in the game (it is epidemic). You actually did a video on that video by CZcamsr G0aT.
another thing most people don't notice is SPT allows for playing on linux which is not allowed with live since they use battleye AC
Great summary 👌
Yesss that's what I have. Only I did have it before I bought EOD for a while.
Inb4 BSG goes after SPT after sinking their own game

@@IIMiikexDIIDLC is for expanded game content i think. Which is clearly what the offline co-op is.
I own a copy of Tarkov, we've always complained that there should be a PvE mode (even just a single player would do) just so that we don't get smoked by sweats after coming home from our jobs, and these same sweats laugh at us telling us to just get good, with the developers telling us that it would never happen. Then people just decided to create a single player mod for Tarkov, which then the developers banned, and your Tarkov account could get banned if you used this mod.
Now, they want us to pay for that exact same thing. Good luck with that, it should have been a part of the standard edition, and player accounts should have never been banned for playing SP Tarkov.

Tarkov should add OverPowered guns like MiniGun, Grenade Launcher, Flamethrower, RPG and Railgun. Except they can only be used until ammo runs out and are Super Rare finds within chests/loot sources. You Can Only Hold 1 Special Grade/OverPowered weapon per person as well making them less likely to hold like 5 in inventory or something.
- Minigun with like 100-200-250, Charges Up then Fires very fast, but little damage 2-5 per bullet yet fires like 5-10 a second so it runs out of ammo quickly, has a very high recoil and is very heavy when you hold it so running drains more stamina when it's out and you're much slower while holding it out. Makes a Loud rrr...rrrr...RRRR... charging it's spin to fire and can be held with aiming. Also, when you fire while standing it increases recoil and crouching reducing the recoil or mounted on a ledge wiping out recoil completely.
- Grenade Launcher has 6 grenades either explode on impact, explode 1-2 seconds after hitting the ground or doing the same but also can damage if you hit someone directly, but either won't explode or has a timer or Explodes on Contact Depending on Range hit.
- FlameThrower ticks damage over time 3-5 damage per tick and/or lights enemy on fire doing 1+dmg every 0.5 seconds or 2dmg/sec.
- RPG/Rocket Launcher does AoE dmg 60-100 based on where it hits and 100 on direct impact.
- RailGun will take like 5-10/20+(whatever feels right) seconds to charge and 1 shots anywhere or cripple's a limb if it's not a head shot so bleeding out. 1 round and you can find rounds and has a 15-20% to break with only 5shots total or less if it feels too OverPowered. Also, it makes a very loud BRRRRrrrrrrr or a ticking like br...br...Br...BRRR(when it's done and fully charged.) So it'll 1 shot, but also would reveal your position to anyone very easily.
Technically, from a legal perspective (under US law, which may or may not be the system that applies here, to be fair) this would not be "false advertising". It would be more of a breach of contract issue. That's not all that important a distinction, though.
False advertising has to happen at the original purchase -- like they knew when they sold the $150 version that they were not going to deliver on promised content. If they delivered in the original sale what they said they were going to deliver, then it's not false advertising.
The issue is whether they had a contractual obligation to provide the $150 bundle purchasers with access to the new content at no extra charge.
As always, whether or not this is actionable will depend heavily on the actual wording of the TOS/EULA for the $150 version. Like, what *exactly* were people promised? It'll come down to typical legal wordsmithing in the end.
Then there's the problem of damages. If it is in fact a breach of contract, how do you measure the damages? You did in fact get some value out of the game, so a 100% refund isn't realistic. Someone who has played 15,000 hours is going to have a hard time claiming "I didn't get my money's worth". It's like saying "This sucks and I ought to know. I played it every day for the last four years."
So assuming it is a breach of contract, and the TOS/EULA allows for a lawsuit or class action or whatever, the question is what fraction of $150 are the players entitled to have refunded. At what point is it simply not worthwhile to sue? Yes, this means companies can do shady shit like this and effectively get away with it because of how contract law works -- at least in the US.
I'm not defending the publisher here. I just think it's important for people to understand how the law is likely to treat something like this.
As almond said, you have a game where the community is willing to pay £150 for an edition and won't complain about microtransactions. In the way they were discussing microtransactions "cosmetic only" we were okay with. Then it was additional stash lines (more storage), it honestly helps a lot early wipe, you have more room for more kits so everyone kind of agreed it slightly pay to win but they need the revenue. The community was pissed that they put so many resources into Arena for it to flop and them need the revenue but it died down into "well they tried something to generate revenue so they don't depend on cheaters and rmt rebuying the game. It flopped. But we love tarkov so find another way to generate revenue". The subreddit was literally begging them to charge us like £10 for a cat/dog for our hideout, so we could contribute. Instead of something like that.. we have this. A massive FU to EOD accounts and a system that leans heavily into pay to win. Sad times
Interesting. Although I’m curious what cashew has to say about all this.
Arena flopped because they refused to give the players what they want

My main gripe with Tarkov is that they didn't add immersive "advanced" FPS features like free aim.

As a developer, it's always so annoying to hear people use the excuse that games are exponentially harder to make now days, when things like unreal and unity have come such a long way, making games has become easier than ever, if anything, without even mentioning the vast array of tutorials and experience built up over the past few decades.
Things like networking and infrastructure has always been a massive problem, but we still have far more tools now than we did 20 years ago.
You could say games are more expensive now, but that's not a result of development, it's bloated marketing and poor management.
When the trailer said "No wipes" inside Asmons head he thought "Well, I haven't wiped in 15 months, big deal"

"Why would I wipe? I got a clean ass."
Great convo and as an EOD owner of 4 years with over 4K hours in the game, I am glad you had Lvndmark on to walk you through all this. It hits different in Tarkov because BSG and their COO Nikita Buyanov spent the last 7 years proudly taking the anti-MTX stance aside from the "3 pre-order editions" when it comes to Tarkov. They took a firm stance from day 1 that aside from the 3 additions to help support and fund development, you would never have to pay for anything that would create and unfair in-raid experience or for anything that wasn't also available to earn for free in the game. Today was the first time everything they stood for and preached went down the drain; and when combined with the lies and deception and scummy behavior, it just hits like a tidal wave to the face.
Let's go GREY ZONE!!!
It's like sitting on a beach and watching the water recede... only to be surprised to be hit by tidal wave...
Warnings where all over!
I'm suprised the game wasn't just a blatant rug-pull in the first place.
But this makes it clear, they are just in it for the money and nothing else.
Otherwise, they wouldn't leverage the cheater pandemic, to force people that want a good experience to shell out 200 bucks for the pve mode.
Imagine, I honestly was thinking to try Tarkov again, I was checking for any recent change recently and found out this, I was thinking I would go back to it if these features were added to the regular edition (not even the 150 bundle because I wouldn't pay for that), and instead...
So it also says this "The additional fees are not included in the price. The final cost will be presented before the payment. Different payment methods include different fees." right over the 250$
You can say the price is Unheard of.

I had the Edge of Darkness Edition so the upgrade to Unheard only cost me $100USD. It has no character wipe and PvE games with friends. The reason I stopped playing Tarkov was because of no PvE option and especially the character wipe. I'm happy to pay for what I wanted years ago.
They promised you all future dlc for $150, why are you OK with the company blatantly lying to you to squeeze another $100 out of your pockets?
@@targetbuddy5 Fair question. For the record, I paid $183AUD ($100USD) for the upgrade from Edge of Darkness. It's not good what they did, I agree. But for me I was incredibly keen to come back to the game due to the no character wipes. This was the original reason I left the game. The reason I paid the price is because I have a lot of disposable income. No wife, no kids, no debts or expensive habits. So spending that sort of money on a game doesn't phase me. I understand if others aren't in the same position and can't afford it.
Plus I am used to spending money on the same game more than once. I've spent money in War Thunder and Star Citizen repeatedly. So it's not unusual for me to do this. One game that did this in an acceptable way (in my opinion), is Killing Floor 2. They put that game out in 2016 and regularly (several times a year) would add content. New maps. New enemies. New skins and whatnot. I remember everybody got pissed at the devs of that game for deciding to add paid content, after they had been giving free content to their community for 5+ years at this point. They supported this game and gave the players free maps, enemies, modes and everything, I think them deciding to make new weapons and monetizing them isn't bad at all cause they needed to support the game they have been supporting for mostly free. They even made it so only 1 player in a match needed the DLC for everybody in the match to utilize it, and it unlocked those weapons for the duration of that game, so if the player with the DLC leaves the game, the remaining players can still use those guns. I thought it was ingenius how they handled it. And still today, they put out free events, and release maps regularly, for free. Those paid guns and skins they made just allowed them to grace us with the Killing Floor 3 announcement we just got this last month.
And it amazes me that other companies keep shooting themselves in the groin.
Because greed lol why make 10 million when you can make 50 million.
Tripwire had some slippery slopes with the way they introduced lootboxes, but as you say, they delivered so much content for free that's I personalny wouldnt mind dropping 10-15€
The sad reality is that if the game sells over 50% what they would have sold with just a $150 edition, then they actually made the better "business" decision selling for $250. This edition needs to tank for these companies to realize this is not OK.
I remember forking out the money for the EOD in 2019 to support the devs because I saw great potential in the game. I was always waiting for a no wipe mode or a pve so even if I get off the grid for a while I dont have to restart all over again and again. If I knew they were going to greed this hard even without finishing their base game I would not have bought it. So basically EOD's hidden bonus was a kick in the nuts.

A couple of important notes here.
- The elimination of EOD was planned. It was supposed to be a limited edition. Their then-highest version of the game, after EOD was removed, was still $110.
- EOD version had access to "all future DLCs" as part of the bundle. PvE mode was classified by the devs NOT as a DLC. They said they don't consider it a DLC... even though that is clearly what it is.
- They've since given PvE mode to EOD edition, but only after the game fully releases, and presumably, only after they have time to tell if it is a viable mode.
The more intelligent move would have been to include it with Standard and, therefore, ALL editions of the game. That would draw PvE enjoyers into the game as a whole, and potentially growing the overall player base. Instead, they've added a mode that no one requested, into a bundle no new player will want, and did a slimy thing where they claimed they didn't consider it a DLC, so they could charge everyone for it. They could have potentially grown their entire player base and increased the game's overall scope, but instead, they pressed F for GREED and lost.
when you consider that 250 dollars are 1.270 Reais, and the minimum wage is 1.412 Reais, it puts into perspective what a shitty hole we are going to.
My biggest pet peeve with us is that when I became a backer I just came in 2016. I was so hopeful that the game would succeed.
When they started releasing the standard edition for purchase, I bought two accounts so that my friends could play with me. Try the game before they bought it themselves
I probably got about nine or 10 people to get into the game
After they got burnt out I bought two more EOD accounts so that brings my account total to five.
So that I could run a full group, and my friends wouldn’t feel pressured into buying the game
From doing that
I probably got about 20 people to buy EOD alone and probably 30 to just buy standard
I’ve been a backer from the start, I brought so many people into this game, and I just feel betrayed
I don’t mind them trying to make money
But if you release a PvE that holds progression, why not make it accessible to EOD holders??
All the other shit aside, I don’t care, but we wanted coop or offline from the get go and we just keep getting blue balled. On top of the fact that we knew all dlc would be free going forward. I gladly bought all the clothing even the BEAR(I’m usec) just to support, and I feel so brushed off.
Man that sucks
That's bloody horrible man wtf are they at honestly
They didn't give a rat's ass about their players from the get go. They made perfectly clear that THEY dictate the speed at which they're releasing stuff and what will be added.
